Did John Rich Punch a Metal Musician?
TMZ is reporting that John Rich — formerly or currently of Big & Rich, depending on which story you believe — hit a guy in the face shortly after 4 a.m. Friday (Oct. 17) at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif. The guy was Jerry Montano, who previously played bass in the metal band Danzig and, more recently, with another metal band, Hellyeah. According to the TMZ report, some sort of disagreement led to Rich allegedly hitting Montano in the nose with a beer bottle. Who knows what really happened, although it’s a safe bet that alcohol was somehow involved — even if Rich didn’t actually hit Montano with a beer bottle. For the time being, the two musicians have apparently decided against filing charges against one another. Rich has a reputation for embracing a rather wild lifestyle, but Montano sounds like a real pro when it comes to living close to the edge. In 2007, he got kicked out of Hellyeah after punching the band’s guitarist, Tom Maxwell, in the face during a party celebrating the release of the group’s debut album. At least Montano and Maxwell got their differences out of the way before they got too far into Hellyeah’s career.

Of course i dont know any details, but I’d say that John wouldnt have done anything like that if the guy didnt deserve it. So i have no problem with it. Way to stick up for yourself John!

It sounds like two low-lifes got into a dispute. Not sure who started it or who is at fault. I won’t take sides as to who is right or who is wrong. But somehow its not surrising that an incident like this might involve these two people.

I know for a FACT that Jerry Montano was drunk last night and in a really mean mood. It does not take much for him to fight or become violent. He already was attacked early this month in another situation.

I will not ever say anything bad about John Rich. I am a huge fan of
his, and feel he is a truly great talent. With that being said, I
cannot pass any judgment on John until I hear his side of the story
from him. And, considering no one was arrested or charged with any
crime, maybe the who thing was blown out of proportion. So, until I
hear what John has to say, I am going to support Him.

I think John needs help before its to late.He needs to take some time off and rethink things in his life. I have been reading things about him and it is not nice at all.I have notice some changes in him.I hope he gets some help so he can live a life that he deserves.

john rich…well, is anyone suprised? wasn’t the whole fallout with lonestar due to rich pulling a gun on another member of the group (maybe that was fluffed up as well)? i agree with jeannie in the sense that he has been accused of many different habits and i have heard first hand accounts of his “party favors”…perhaps he should snort a line of accountability…

I love that everyone immediately goes after Jerry on this. Yes, Tryna, he was attacked earlier this month…key word being “attacked”. I can tell you with certainty, this particular incident was unprovoked.
