Trailer Choir Steals the Show at an IEBA Showcase

Trailer ChoirThe IEBA's (International Entertainment Buyers Association) annual conference is in Nashville this week, and last night (Oct.12), the group of music business folks held a special showcase at the Stage on Broadway. The rapid-fire show featured some big names in a three-songs-and-you're-done format that made for a few surprises. Here's a short list of highlights ...

Bucky Covington did his version of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and afterward the emcee remarked that he and his twin brother, Rocky, could play for 12 hours straight if they would just tag in and out. Hmmm ... looking around I saw at least a few wheels turning.

Sawyer Brown played a quiet, acoustic set and announced that they had played more than 4,000 shows in their 25-year career since they won TV's Star Search talent competition in '83. Their set featured "Thank God for You."

Jack Ingram was the first act to actually get the audience of entertainment pros involved, mostly by stubbornly demanding they answer his onstage questions which gave me an "it's about time" moment. "Measure of a Man," "Love You" and "Wherever You Are" were his songs.

•And the most popular set of the night belonged to Trailer Choir and their unapologetic party music ... and Big Vinny doing the worm. But, really, who can resist "386 reasons to get up and dance"?
