What to Expect From Jason Aldean's Next Album

Jason AldeanJason Aldean is putting the finishing touches on his third album, which should be out early next year. And he believes that the success of his first two albums has granted him access to Nashville's top-notch songs.

"The more popular you get as an artist, the more publishing companies and songwriters are willing to give you better songs. I think it's been a lot easier to find those songs, so we'll see," he says. "It's kind of hard. We came out with ‘Hicktown,' and then everybody was expecting another ‘Hicktown' from us, and it was like, well, ‘Johnny Cash' was our big tempo record from that. But we went back to the drawing board a little bit on this third album and I'd say a lot of the songs are more like the first album. But I still think we're moving forward as far as progression. I definitely think that everything's getting better and the songs are better."

Aldean also found that returning to those first two albums has improved his song-hunting skills. "With both of the albums, I've gone back and listened to songs, and there are certain songs that I love, and there's other songs where I'm like, ‘I wish that we were to cut something different instead of this song.' So you try to learn from that stuff, like, ‘I wish that I had sang this a little different or done this a little different.' You take that and you use it the next time you go in the studio."

This is a cool kind of insight into making albums beyond the debut, and the thought process that goes into song choice and performance. I’m glad to hear that JA is genuinely trying to improve himself as an artist. That in itself will make the new album worth listening to.

I am a huge Jason Aldean fan and even though I am anxious for his new album, I also believe that he is selling himself short by not releasing more off of “Relentless”. He did the same with “Jason Aldean”. There are a lot of good songs on both albums.

Can someone please help me. I, my daughter and her 3 friends have planned for 2 months for the Jason Aldean Concert at the Kay Yaeger in Wichita Falls Nov.8. I hear from their mom today that it is cancelled; call the Yaeger and yes, it was cancelled yesterday Nov.6, but the ticket lady has no reason, said the production co. cancelled. I will get my money back less $22 handling, but we REALLY wanted to see Jason A. Does anyone have the real story on why the show was cancelled? Please tell. At least we braved hurricane threats and saw Eagles in Dallas in Sept.
