Good Songs for Bad Times
The Los Angeles Times recently took the time to put together a list of songs about what it feels like to be broke. What with the depression looming and all. And by far, my favorite on that list is Loretta Lynn's "Coal Miner's Daughter." She watched her mother's fingers bleed washing their clothes, her dad had to sell a hog to buy them new shoes, and he raised eight kids on a miner's pay. Good lessons for us all. Those must've been tough times, but like she says, "We were poor, but we had love." Let's hope that's still enough to get us through this economic kerfuffle.

I hope it does not get that bad either. If it does family and love can get you through a lot of things in life. Loretta is a one of a kind woman. She is true country…That is why we love her.
Debbie Hill says:
I like hearing the songs about some of the bad times that people go through and I love hearing good honest songs that Loretta tells from the heart and how she feels about geowing up poor.
I can relate to songs about real life too. Loretta’s music is such an insperation to me.

I can relate to Loretta’s growing up time. My parents had 16 of us. How we all made it I do not know. My mom is gone now enjoying her reward and resting in heaven, Dad is still with us at 85. We are all spread everywhere but get together every september.
I love you Loretta, I wrote a song called Home Town Memories . It is about when we grew up. Maybe I should submit it to some one . Any Ideas. I did give it to Loretta’s manager a few years back , however I have never heard any more about it. Humm I wonder if she ever got it. I would at least like to know what she thought about it. Keep up the good work Loretta. God Bless Loretta Lynn and God Bless America.

I hope things get better. Loretta is the best and the real deal. I saw her in concert on September 27 at her ranch. She still has a beautiful singing voice and she is Still Country as her one album is titled. I love Loretta too. She is my #1 favorite country artist.

Loretta Lynn and I served in Vietnam together. I had
a cassette player and several cassettes. The Loretta Lynn
cassette is the only one that survived Vietnam and I still
have it 38 years later. I saw Ms Loretta Lynn at concert
the last time in 2007. Looking forward to the next time.

Just saw Loretta this past Sunday, October 12th. Wow! She is 73 and still belts out a song with so much feeling. The greatness that is Loretta is that she has lived so many of her songs. We all could learn from this survivor. I have always admired this lady and will continue to do so.
Joan Sperry says:
My mother would have gave anything to have met her before she died but wasn’t able to.I grew up with her songs and she is one of a kind and of course shes from Ky just like me and that makes her the best too.Yes,we can make it through anything with our family and love and of course God up above too.We all can survive anything that we put our heads to do.

The country music big wigs need to allow Loretta Lynn’s new songs be played on the air waves. She’s one of the few older Queens left and with out her these girls of today wouldn’t have the chances in music they have today.
She is country music-History. Let’s honor her.

I just had a Valentine Day gift of Loretta Lynn’s concert in Houston at the Arena theatre. What a treat! She’s been my all time favorite singer for-ever! I sat on the “Star aisle” and saw her up close! How beautiful and elegant she is. Her daughters are just as beautiful. Patsy actually stopped in the aisle for us to get a picture of her! Classy! Loretta walked close enough to me for me to tell her I loved her. She stopped, looked right at me and in that wonderful twang of hers she said, “I love you too sweetheart!” I know she’s said that to thousands of people but never to me! I’ll never forget that moment!
Even though Loretta appeared frail, she nonetheless presented a wonderful show! I just felt as though she would sit and talk with me any minute now!
Alas though she had to leave. I’ll treasure this “meeting” with her always.
We love you Loretta. May God Bless you always.
