Anna and Bo's Redneck Wedding Blog
Anna and Bo were married on CMT's show My Big Redneck Wedding. They share their thoughts about the big event.
Howdy y'all,
Bo and Anna here, telling you how our wedding went and how muddy great it was. First of all our wedding was on May 10th 2008 and was held at our house. But before I tell you how the actual wedding went, let us tell y'all of all the crazy, emotional and muddy things we had to go through to get to our wedding.
First thing we had to pick somewhere to have the wedding, that itself had plenty of issues. We had thoughts of having it up the road at the confederate park, but we both decided that was not enough space. So then we though it would be awesome to have it at the mud bog, there was mud and plenty of space for all of our guests. But the man who owned it got greedy a week before the wedding and we had to just the move the wedding to our house. But that turned out to be a good thing. Everyone got muddy and had a great time. Some say that seeing the bride before the wedding is bad luck, we both disagree on that, because we saw each other basically the whole time before the wedding. Heck, Anna was saying that she even passed by three grave sites, but she did close her eyes while driving, but her friend Brandy took the wheel for her.
Okay, but on the wedding ceremony we had the guys in one big white truck, that we thought would not get down there, it would not even crank at first, but they got it working. Then the girls rode in the back of the big red truck. We surely thought that it was going to rain. But it did not, but it sure was hot. Then as I (Anna) walked down the aisle in my beautiful white and red dress, with Papa Bear (Bo's dad) I started to cry seeing Bo there standing in his rebel flag vest that Mama Bear made, there Chi-Chi standing beside Bo in his matching rebel vest also. But when I got to him, I just smiled, not just because I was happy, but because Charlie our donkey started hee-hawing the whole time. That made it complete for our redneck wedding. We both wrote our own vows. Mine (Anna) was traditional with slight country, but Bo's was not at all traditional. But I loved it because it came from his heart. And there we got married under our tree with the arch way decorated with car parts, gun shells and flowers. After all of that we dug into the food and the cake, I thought it would be in pieces due to my best friends Becca & Robin carrying the cake up the hill. Then Bo and his rowdy friends cooked the hog that they slaughtered. It was time to play now, we had two kegs in the back of the truck. Then we went mudding, after we exchanged our gifts to each other. Wow! Did Anna get me a gift, a whole scrapbook full of her in lingerie and county outfits, that was a total surprise, that her and her friend Becca did. Then I surprised Anna by giving her, her own toy to mud in. I gave her a rail job. Well back to the mud, we even put a limo in the mud, not all the way but close enough.
We completed the wedding with the pee jeep doing doughnuts and a romantic time at Panama City Beach. But that is a whole other story. .... ( stay tuned)...
Love,
Bo & Anna Granthum

ashley says:
Are they step brother and sister or REAL brother and sister? I don’t get it…
CC says:
Where do you guys live?
… says:
ya are they really brother and sister whats the deal with that?
charlie says:
wouldn’t that be against the law?
Renee says:
You two are so cute together. My friends laugh at me because they said I’d probably the only black girl that watches this show, but I don’t give a rats a–.I’m from Virginia and I love being in the country and this show just takes me back. I wish the both of you well,I enjoyed watching your wedding.
brandon says:

Muddqueen says:
Okay, I must say that I was taken back at first by the whole brother and sister getting married and all… But, once you watched the show…everything made sense.. Mama Bear, I have to disagree, I liked the dress that Anna choose….but I Loved the vest Your son and groomsmen wore!!! They were bad ass!! Girl… enjoy the rail…(currently working on getting one myself)and have a wonderful life….CONGRATS!!!
Member to wrap that banana!!!

Jill says:
OK Anna was adopted by Bo’s Mother and Father. So they are not blood relatives, but it is still really really wrong…. and creapy. Especially since the Mom keeps saying, “Your going to Marry your Brother”.
Amy says:
On the show I believe it said they were from Alabama, but I wander where in Alabama?
Amy says:
Ah I found it, Verbena, AL
Rena says:
Hey guys. That is my brother-in-law and new sister-in-law. No!!! they are not really brother and sister. Anna moved into my mother-in-laws home whens he was 14 to get away from an abusive situation. Well of course you know what is going to happen when you put two teenagers in a home together. So they started “liking” each other and it went from there. They are really good kids and not really brother and sister.
kristi says:
i loved the whole rebel flag theme. my boyfriend and i watched it and this episode gave us some ideas on how we would like our wedding..
Jenny says:
His family adopted her when she was sixteen. Is how it is explained during the show. Now, how long ago that was, it doesn’t say. And I’m sure that if she’s over 18 then the adoption rules or whatever doesn’t apply anyway. So I think it’s legal.
Brittney says:
Ha thats where i live i thought the show was great im glad someone finally got our little town in on something. great weeding kinda hilarious in a way. yeah people they really arent real brother and sister so dont freak.
LouAnn says:
I’d say ya’ll did it right ! To Anna, I think you were really blessed To be chosen by a family who loved you and then marry your best buddy. I wish you both a happy country life. Please email me I have a gift for you.

krykel says:
bamamama2: I don’t know the actual version used in the show. Didn’t watch the credits and I cant find it anywhere. But (and this is if memory serves correct here) I believe it was just a traditional Delta Blues style version of the song. So I would begin my search there.
Also, This episode ranks right up there with the one with the beer can archway.
Kayla Bear says:
Hey ya’ll, loved the wedding!!! CONGRATS!!! I’m plannin’ mine right now, and ya’ll gave us some great ideas. I just wish we had more mud in west texas lol. But my man is about as redneck as they come, and the rebel flags were awesome!!!!! He loved it! We wish ya’ll all the happiness in the world, lots of babies, and millions of redneck memories. E-mail me if you can, i’d love to share some ideas.
Jen says:
She was adopted by his parents, that makes them brother and sister legally even if they aren’t blood relatives. That’s disgusting, how can anyone with at least one brain cell think that’s okay? It’s just disturbing. Mama Bear was about as nasty as they come, the comments she was making about her own son’s penis..my god, that’s just sick. Someone help this family.
JaDa says:
I thought the dress was cute, and so is the couple. I’m from just up the road and think it’s not how you get married but how you live your life. So sad to see all the ignorant comments from the people that didn’t REALLY pay attention to the fact of the adoption.
Best of luck from Jemison! ;-}
Thomas Headley says:
BO AND ANNA WEDDING WAS SO CUTE.. WE SAW THAT MAMA BEAR HAD A T-SHIRT THAT SAID PASTY’S KITCHEN, MARBURY,AL.
MY STEP MOM PASTY OWNS THE KITCHEN. DONT FEEL BAD I DATED TWO COUSINS AND MARRIED ONE..AND IS DIVORCED NOW..IS VERY VERY HAPPY TO A WOMAN IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA..
SO HOW DO YALL KNOW PATSY ???
Ophelia says:
…and people from the south wonder why they get made fun of by the rest the country all the time.
kaitlyn says:
anna and bos wlif.
Amanda Nichole says:
I was a little taken back by the fact that they introducued each other as “My Brother Bo” and “My sister Anna”. Once I watched the show for a little bit and figured out that she was adopted at 16 it made more sense to me. But hten Mama Bear kept saying “You’re going to marry your brother…” That is WEIRD!
However, i am very concerned about Mama Bears method of contraceptive. The sandwich bag and the banana… Now I know how Bo came to be.
A few questions stemmed from this show…
1.) If this marriage ends in divorce, who goes to mom and dads for Christmas?
2.) DO you still hate your in-laws?
3.) Do your children have aunts and uncles or just mom and dad?
Brandy says:
of course they are not real brother and sister!!! honestly I dont think they would have put that on tv!! she was kinda adopted!!! like my brother!! I do think that this wedding is going to be a lot like mine though with the mudding thing anyways!!!
meemee says:
Anna was adopted so they are not real brother and sister!! i love her wedding dress that is exactly what I want mine to look like.
Jennifer Elrod says:
I just wanted to know where they got the cake topper from?? It was too cute!
Tim says:

cody says:
bo is so hot I ould love to meet him for a little play time if anna is not giving him what he needs, i would love to make his pants get tighter.
kassie says:
First off congrats on the wedding… anna you looked gorgeous! people are so rude to ya’ll i’m sorry…not that you guys look at this thing anyways…im not so sure i would if i were you either.
but i’d really like to ask ya’ll some questions about the weddin…I thought it was different what ya’ll did… i would love to have a weddin in the mud and arch way with the bullet shells that was good…ya i like that a lot. if ya’ll could email me and help me out a little i’d love that! thanks and congrats again!
Jenpie says:

Dani says:

belledame2 says:
I must say this episode is the most memorable one I’ve ever seen. I wish them both happiness and I hope CMT does a followup to these weddings later on to update viewers about these married couples. And I know Anna and Bo’s is the first one I’d like to see.

Mark Adams says:
I’ve watched three shows and all i can say is CMT must not
care about their ratings. I don’t watch CMT or listen to country music. My wife does but that her choice. If you want to show the rest of the people how stupid you are to
go through with a back a.. country wedding you don’t have
that much of a life. Again i guess thats what they do in your part of the USA. They must pay well.
Renee says:

Amber says:
If you guys actually WATCHED the show, they said that his family adopted her when she was like 16.

Beth says:
Hey I see some other people have asked about the Amazing Grace song, so does anyone know who it’s by? It’s really beautiful and I’d like to use it at my wedding. Good Luck to Bo and Anna and President Obama.
ritawilly says:
Are you people serious? Being adopted makes you family. Ai yi yi. There’s no “They’re not really related” about it. Now, it’s their choice to do what they did and get married, but they’re still related regardless of whose female genitalia they came out of.
well, really… says:
when you think about it, there are lots of movies where this happened -and they certainly weren’t “hillbillies” or “rednecks”
one movie that comes to mind is - The Royal Tennenbaums. Gwynth Paltrow and Luke Wilson’s characters end up together -but they are adopted-brother-and-sister. Another is clueless (step siblings, but the dad treated josh as a son). Cruel Intentions also had sexual tensions between the step siblings who grew up together.
personally, i think it’s creepy. but i recognize it’s the sort of thing you get away with when you’re 1) super rich (like all those movie characters) or 2) super poor (my redneck wedding).
it seems only the middle class is caught up in social mores.
Donna says:
I loved it! It has given my boyfriend and me the idea that we would like to do something of the same nature for our wedding……..Can anyone tell me where I can get the rebel flag material for the hats and vests?
Eric says:
Wow what a wedding, I must say it was not your typical one for sure, I enjoyed see you two get married and the whole brother and sister thing not a problem with me, I understood what you said.
Bubba says:
hey bub what year is that red truck?
ashley says:

TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEE!!!
theunionwon says:
I don’t know who was more interested in talking about the groom’s penis the bride or the groom’s mother.
angelsarewatchingme2 says:
My husband works at the same place that Bo’s brother works at the way I understood it they are very nice people. I say congrats to them both. First off Bo’s bride was his adopted sister so actually there was no blood line there whatsoever. So there should be nothing wrong with that at all in my book. I think its awesome that they had such a great relationship. Congrats u2 and hope you have an awesome marriage.
SouthernQT815 says:
Anna you made a beautiful bride! And i loved your idea for the photo album, how it progesses from nice to naughty. lol.
God bless
Amanda says:
Hey there Anna and Bo. I loved the wedding, do what makes you happy is my mantra. I am also in love with the Amazing grace song and would like to know if anyone has any info on it, I can’t find it anywhere. Thank you two so much for sharing your wedding with us, just remember opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. :o)
Thank God I’m From the North says:
Wow…so Southerners are just trying to prove how stupid they are to the rest of the country, huh? I’m glad it’s on national TV so everyone can see. I’m extremely embarrassed to be from the same country as all of you.
Marrying your brother, even if it’s not biological, is DISGUSTING and extremely wrong. I wonder how long it will take until they get divorced and she starts sleeping with her cousin.
Danielle says:
This was one of my fav episodes and I send my congrates to Bo and Anna I hope U have a long and happy life together. and Iam from the north!!!!
Yankee says:
Well…I just had to come to this site after watching this episode…brother and sister married??? Thought it was illegal?? LOL..I thought they have to be step brother and sister cause there is no way that would fly, especially on national tv. Glad to hear now that they are not blood relations. This is the weirdest show I’ve ever seen and I am def. surprised at the comments above on people saying they want their weddings to be just like the ones on the show LMAO!!! But to each therer own God Bless America!! Good luck to you both….
Missy says:
Hey Anna & Bo:
I have been married for almost 2 years but my husband and I were not adoptive brother and sister. My husband and myself are from Alabama too and I know for a fact from the minister who married my husband and I that cousins from 1st cousins on up to 3rd or 4th cousins can not get married in our state, but never once did he mention adoptive siblings. Here in Alabama you can not get married if you are BLOOD related and people at the courthouse do not ask you if their was an adoption of either the bride or the groom by one of the families when you apply for the marriage certificate, all they want to know is if you are CLOSELY blood related, and if you are you don’t get to buy a license. As for all you northern people’s negative comments, take them and stick them where the sun don’t shine. We people in the south could give a rat’s ass what you think, and if I recall right lots of you Northerner’s move down here and stay so that makes you Damn Yankees. My husband works for Budweiser and his truck partner is originally from Pennsylvania, but he has lived down here for years and loves it. He said that he would never again live up North because it sucks. ROLL FREAKIN’ TIDE!!!!!
Missy says:
Anna & Bo:
I saw nothing wrong with you two getting married in your own yard because my husband and I were married in my parent’s yard (No paying rental on a location that way.) I say if you have a yard big enough and their is no city or county ordinance against it go for it. My mother and father were married in my mother’s parent’s home too. My sister is a wedding coordinator and she planned my wedding, but I drew the line at letting her tell me how my hair and make-up would be done. As for Mama Bear not liking your dress, that’s her opinion and she didn’t have to wear the dress to begin with. As for Charlie the jackass I think I would’ve had to put a muzzle on him for the wedding.
missy says:
yall do make a cute couple..and the dress was beautiful.. it is not bad luck for the groom and bride to see each other b4 the wedding me and my hubby did and weve been married 15 yrs. well it will be 16 this yr since it is 2009 now.good luck to the both of you ..
mark says:
for years me an my sister figured we had to keep it quiet that we wuz doin it. we live down here in alabama to and we wuz talkin about gettin married but then she found out that i wuz doin it with our cousin from over in dothan. then aunt mama and uncle daddy hollerd at us one night that there was this show fixin to come on that was about some brothers and sisters gettin married up. I sat there and picked my tooth and just looked over at aunt mama and said, you know what? I aint gonna do it with my cousin from dothan no more. cuz i’m gonna marry my sister, and uncle daddy thought that was a good idea to.
mark says:
also there was this part on the show where mama bear was showin anna how to but bo’s ding a ling in a sandwich bag. now thats silly right there, I aint figured out yet why you’d wanna put yer ding a ling in a sandwich bag. and it really aint fit fer tv to be showin that sorta stuff cuz my son nephew was sleepin right there in the front room of the trailer since thats also the livin room, and i kept on thinkin boy i hope he dont wake up and hear all this talk of puttin yer ding a ling in a sandwhich bag.
