Alan Jackson and the Redneck Gourmet

Posted: October 2nd, 2008 at 11:56 am  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Alan JacksonIs Alan Jackson responsible for keeping Main Street afloat in these unsteady economic times? That depends on how hungry he is. There’s a folksy little spot in his hometown of Newnan, Ga., called the Redneck Gourmet. And restaurant owner Casey Smith told CNN that one of the things that keeps the eatery open is the celeb clientele. It has reportedly brought in guys like Jackson, plus comedian Jeff Foxworthy and Atlanta Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking for homemade sandwiches, desserts and good ol’ Southern breakfasts. If only country stars and pro athletes could keep every small town shop from closing its doors.

Love this blog Alison! I also follow the advice of country stars. Last year, while in Tenn., My husband & I drove into the middle of nowhere just to get the very best bologna sandwiches ! Those McGraws know just what they are talking about!! :)

Great Resturant…I have eaten there many times and my kids went to Newnan High School (Alan Jackson’s old high school) and he every year he gives a music scholarship. He is a wonderful good hearted person who hasn’t forgotten his home town.
