Saturday Singalong With Keith Urban

Posted: September 30th, 2008 at 1:17 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Keith UrbanOh, to be in the right place at the right time. Like Saturday night (Sept. 27) when Keith Urban had the crowd at the Grand Ole Opry sing "Happy Birthday" to Marty Stuart to celebrate his 50th. Urban sang some other hits, too, like "Raining on Sunday" and "You Look Good in My Shirt." Dierks Bentley was there. And there was even a cake decorated like one of Stuart's extravagant embroidered jackets. They sang some more, joked around a lot, and it sounds like they all had a good ol' time. One more reason why I really need to move to Nashville.

Alison…do you need a good roommate when you move to Nashville? lol! Wish I had been at the Opry that night! I heard the duet Keith and Marty sang “So Lonesome I Could Cry” and it was great!

OH yes, I saw it on TV and thought..why didn’t I know this was going to happen. I’m only an hour from Nashville! It’s was such a special rare moment for the Opry. Like in Carrie’s Opry message, “History in the making”.

Make that a third roommate! lol! i’ve been to nashville twice, but only once i really got to see the sights and things. like the country music hall of fame, and the grand ole opry, and that street where all the bars and honky tonks are. it was so inspiring…hearing all the country music and being where so many country stars got discovered. and the moment i walked outside of the nashville airport, i just got a warm, homey feeling. i miss it like crazy.

Anyways, i missed keith’s performance because the whole opry was sold out and i don’t have gac, but i watched him on youtube and he was amazing! (as ususal). (:

I saw the Opry on Saturday too! What a great show! I knew they were celebrating Marty’s B-Day so I made plans to go to a friends house to watch because I don’t have GAC either. Anyway Keith and Marty were awesome! I think Marty is such a great talent and sometimes doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

I was actually there! Got tickets only because I knew Marty was hosting that night - didn’t realize it was the birthday celebration. Well worth the round trip from northeast Indiana. Marty and Keith seemed to feed off each other really well. “I’m So Lonesome” was more than awesome. But what really knocked my sock off was Connie with Sharon & Cheryl White singing “The Pilgrim.” You could have heard a pin drop in the Opry House while they sang that.

I wish I could have been there, too! I have had the opportunity to see Keith just twice in 3 years and his shows have been excellent! I miss him! I have his calendar and it brightens my day to see his lovely smile! It looked like he was having a great time on Saturday with Marty. I felt like Keith was the guest of the night since he played as many times as he did. This is certainly good for us!

Marty Stuart is one of the great guys of country. He works so hard to preserve it. As for Keith Urban. He can sing Happy Birthday to me, any day. Even if it isn’t my Birthday.
