Best of Mabe in America -- Season One

Posted: September 25th, 2008 at 1:26 pm  |  By: Tom Mabe

Tom MabeHey Gang! Friday night -- Sept. 26 -- CMT is playing back-to-back episodes of Mabe in America! 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. These are the best bits of season one.

I'm performing in Detroit Friday, so I'll catch the later showings at 1 and 1:30 p.m. ET/PT.  I'll probably catch it again Sunday night at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT just to see how nice my Ford F-150 looked before Jimbo wrecked it moving a Cub Cadet to his house. You can't make a Michigan u-turn in Kentucky -- especially on I-65! Jimbo, you're funny, but you drive as good as Stevie Wonder.  No worries though ...

So the other night I was channel surfing and I caught a little bit of Dancing With the Stars. Is it just me, or have more people left that show in an ambulance than they have in the Ultimate Cage Fighting challenge?  First, it was Marie Osmond, then it was three or four other people.

"Hey dude, what's with the band-aid on your ankle?"

"It was a tragic ballroom dancing accident!"

Thanks to everyone for the great e-mails and comments on the CMT blogs. And most of all, thank you CMT for letting us do this show.

Don't forget to tune in! And as always check out CMT.com for show times.

I love you guys
-tom mabe

Thanks for being funny and clean. The world needs another Red Skelton or Bill Cosby and you are well on your way to that kind of stardom!

This was the best show breakout of the year! Something fresh and not recycled. To find a comic that can do more than just one kind of routine is a great find. There are few shows out there that have made me laugh so hard. I hope we can have a new season. I like to go to live shows, but the sketch clips and living in reality is such a great thing. CMT please give us more!

CMT, times are tough but America still needs to laugh, please give us more Mabe!

Tom, thank you, Friday night the 26th, I had the TV to myself; flipping through the channels (usually my husband does this) and I came across your show on CMT. Now I’m not one to laugh out loud “by myself” and lately, well there’s been nothing to laugh about but your episode had me in stitches!! I haven’t had a good giggle in a very long time. As I was telling folks about your pranks, it still got the eyes burning but it wasn’t the same as seeing it; can’t wait to see the next show!

Thanks for sharing the kind of stuff I grew up with, no, not just “Candid Camera,” but my Dad and brothers.

Thanks again Tom it was a “hoot” and thanks CMT (in advance) for a new TMC (Tom Mabe Comedy)season!

There have only been two shows that my family and I have watched regularly on CMT - ‘Mabe in America’ and ‘Nashville Nudists News’.

As nudists, we have always appreciated the very tasteful use of nudity in both shows, and we truly hope to see more tasteful nudity in the future. Thank you Mr. Mabe for representing nudism and nakedness in a proper way, and thank you for always appearing nude on your show in a classy and refined manner.

  • Tom says:

    Posted: October 11th, 2008 at 12:49 am

Lorenzo, I just talked with CMT and they feel that country nudist music is the next big thing. LOL, I read all these posts and I try to figure out which one of my family members are writing them… Obviously the nudist post came from grandma and the other message Please pease CMT bring back Tom Mabe came from me or the other EP on the show John Feld.

Guys, thanks so much for the kind words and enthusiasm! We literally just wrapped up the first season and are taking a break to write and see how this all plays out….

I love you guys and I love CMT, remember though, if you missed a show you can always see it on CMT.COM

    Seacrest out!
Thanks again, you bring a smile to my face every time I check the blogs out

Your show is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

I can’t remember laughing so hard since the first time I saw “Blazing Saddles” or “Bull Durham”, frankly.

Hey Tom i laughed so hard at your show. The weird thing is i recognized a lot of places in the show. Like Clarksville and downtown Louisville. Anyway your practical jokes are funny but knowing that there is a jokester like you in my area makes me a little nervous. Just playing. I live in New Albany and i would love to see some of this area get joked on. Well, keep up the good work and best wishes in the future.

First I have to say that I love the your show! It cracks me up!

Hello! My name is Susan (from Lexington, KY) and I was just wondering if you ever need a female to help you pull off your shananagons? Obviously, I am not a spelling teacher. I would love to be considered (references available) if this opportunity ever presents itself.
Growing up my favorite TV shows were Candid Camera and Kids Say the Darndest Things. Putting people in ackward situations and watching them react is priceless to me! I love it!

All my life I have loved pulling pranks, and doing crazy things similar to yours… if for nothing else to entertain myself! I like to think of it as keeping people on their toes. My poor mother doesn’t care for this hobby of mine, nor does she take jokes well. Several times these have left her in tears - Mad, but everyone around or who heard the story was laughing so hard they were crying or peeing themselves! Good times…

Anywho, I would love to talk to you further if possible.
Thanks so much for your time and consideration,

    Susan

  • Tom says:

    Posted: October 28th, 2008 at 9:23 am

Susan, thanks for the comment! Glad you like the show! Sounds like you have a great sense of humor. You know, it takes a special kind of weirdness to pull off pranks. I guess that’s why I do them so often. I’m pretty weird! Keep watching the message board and I’ll keep you inform as to what’s going on. Who knows, we may take a look at some of your pranks…

    Thanks!!!

was trying to think of somewhere you could do a prank show from……hospital emergency rooms always there for hours and hours….could find some fun there or atleast some stooges!!
    walmart???
    post office???
    military installations…
    dental office waiting room…………..
if you do any of these, please warn me ahead of time, don’t want to fall into the trap !!! lol

GOD BLESS, looking forward to a new crop of shows….

Dude! I took my 3 yr old to the pediatrician the other day, we were there for so long he drove home! It’s amazing! You drive like a maniac so you won’t be 2 minutes late just to get there and have to wait for an hour in the waiting room then another 30 minutes in the examining room!

    Thanks for the notes

    Hey Tom!

In all my years alive I have watched many show. Night court, Cheers, Seinfeld, Drew Carey, funniest home videos, and many many more! I just don’t think I have ever laughed so hard and so much until watching your new series, Mabe In America! On top of that, I NEVER watch ANYTHING twice but I am now on my third run of watching your shows. I can not wait for season 2 and was wanting to know what time and date to look for it. With some well deserved advertisement there is no doubt you will be the most popular comedian around! Thanks for making me laugh until tears roll down my face!

Tom, I watched and enjoyed every episode of last season. And I can’t wait for new the new episodes to arrive.

As a matter of fact, I was just listening to some of your old CD’s the other day. I love the prank call where you call the lady back and fire her for previously telling you that she worked in p*rn. CLASSIC.

You’re the best and I wish you and your show continued success.

I thought I was the constant complainer! if you talk to people at CMT they can verify this! LOL. Na, pretty easy going.. Have you heard the new CDs. Lots of fun calls on the CD titled Mabe In America, yes it shares the same name as the show..
I did a show up in OH a couple of months ago and they are some CMT viewers! Got recognized at the gas station, the rest area, the rehab facility, I’m much better now.
I’m shooting more bits and working on anything that makes me laugh.

Thanks for the kind words again..
