Ryder Cup Gala Flat on the Floor for Carrie Underwood

Posted: September 22nd, 2008 at 4:22 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Carrie UnderwoodWe know she's into football, but who knew Carrie Underwood would show up at the Ryder Cup for the black-tie gala in Louisville, Ky.? She was the evening's entertainment, but I'm not sure a golf tournament is anything like an Underwood concert. Because at a concert, the crowd would be on their feet the whole time. But at this event, the local paper reported that she "began the show with ‘Flat on the Floor,' nearly bringing the audience to its feet." Nearly? Were they or weren't they on their feet? It was a 45-minute set, and I can't imagine what that must've been like for Underwood if everyone was sitting down.

Thats right and Carrie rocks the house when she performs the song “Flat On The Floor” She knows how to get the crowd going and she is quite a little rocker that great singer Carrie!!! I bet they all were into it and the 45 minute set felt like one minute!!! Way to go Carrie The Ryder Cup Gala is quite an honor to be performing at it!!!

It was a formal setting with a red carpet, gowns, suit and ties………Was an honor to be asked to perform. The few comments made by the European reporters were very positive. But very different from a regular concert setting that’s for sure.

Why all the negativity? I doubt they sat down the whole time, please. You don’t like Carrie much do you?

It was a black tie event– for professional golfers from all over the World. It was VERY formal– there are pictures of it on getty.com. Anyway- the ladies had ball gowns on and evening wear– so they couldn’t exactly dance.
I am sure they enjoyed it though as many UK and European papers reported that they loved Carrie even though they were not familiar with country music. etc. they thought she was the highlight of the evening.

I see this as a positive review. The blogger to me was saying that in a normal Carrie concert, the people would be on their feet the entire time and to me that is a compliment.

Otay, I don’t read it that way.

You’re right Joanne, this woman tries to knock Carrie every chance she gets. Nobody else would expect a group of millionaires at a black tie dinner to stand up. I can’t believe this hack is still on CMT’s payroll.

My father is a politician and my Mother an attorney. I have attended a few “BLACK TIE” events and you DO NOT stand up and clap your hands and sing along, etc.. There is a huge difference between a black tie affair and attending a concert. Of course they did not stand up (some did) however, that did not mean the did not enjoy the music. My brother attended the gala and he said that Underwood gave a beautiful concert and was well received. He stated he heard positive comments on her performance.

Oh Shelly, I feel so sorry for you. I know we can’t pick the family that we are born into, but a politian and an attorney is a liitle much to ask of anyone. Just make the best of it and when you are of age, you can escape legally. Hang in there. It will get better.

Carrie Underwood is a fantastic performer and someone our young people can really look up to—I doubt too many black tie events have the audience standing up during the entertainment—but they sure do during her concerts—I’ve been to 3 and she is well worth seeing in any setting.

It makes me sooooo mad how Carri Underwood’s song ” Just a Dream” never gets played except when top twenty count-down on CMT is on, even though it has been number ‘1′ video for the past two weeks. My husband want’s to see it!!!!
