No Beer Gut for Jessica Simpson

Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 1:53 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Jessica SimpsonLight beer is one thing. But a beer with functional additives, too? This you’ve got to hear. Jessica Simpson has signed on to help Dallas-based Stampede Brewing sell its Stampede Light Plus beer, which the brewer says is Simpson’s new favorite. Could it be because it’s infused with B vitamins, folic acid and folate? So every holler n’ swaller’ is like a multi-vitamin?  “Yes, I work out and take care of myself, but I also like a cold beer once in a while,” Simpson said. The only question is, will it make the rest of us look good in Daisy Dukes?

I would rather see her selling beer than singing.

Is there anything this two-bit-twit won’t peddle? Polyester hair, zit cream, edible lotion, pizza, and now beer? Oh and did you hear about her so-called abuse claims? It was just girls in high school giving her a rough time. But yet “there is NOTHING on this album that I haven’t directly experienced myself.” God, she is so damn desperate and pathetic.

I guess Hank Williams was “desperate” when he peddled laxatives eh? Get a grip and leave Jessica alone.

I will never leave anyone alone who trivializes and lies about abuse for their own personal gain.

  • M says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 4:37 pm

And just how do you know that she didn’t experience abuse? Huh? You DON’T!! You don’t know her, so get off your high horse and go pick on someone else.

  • Butthead says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 4:42 pm

The only abuse she’s experienced is her Dad making her and her sister into a dog and pony show. Now she’s abusing country music fans by weasling her way in our genre.

  • M says:

Once again, you know nothing about her except the crap that you’re buying from the media. Take your ignorance somewhere else, please.

  • ann says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 4:49 pm

not only did she trivialize real abuse, she sullied the name of every man she’s been linked to by casting each of them as the possible “abuser”…all for attention for her cd and her personal gain. That’s really low.

  • M says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 5:00 pm

So is casting apersions on someone else’s name. Someone you DO NOT KNOW.

  • ann says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 5:22 pm

When asked by an Elle writer if she’s been physically abused, Simpson replied, “I don’t want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run.”

Simpson is the one casting aspersions on every man she’s dated and even her parents by making such a serious accusation and then refusing to talk about it.

Have all these people abused her? Isn’t someone in the bunch innocent? I didn’t say it…Simpson did in Elle magazine! Or did the Elle writer lie?

She’s a smart business woman and a great singer from what I have heard so far.

So what if she is singing a song from personal experience and not prepared to name names. There is no requirement for other singers to do the same so why should Jessica Simpson. If she named names not only would that be unfair and unnecessary but the same people who are saying she should not would be the same tear her down for doing so.

  • Leanna says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 5:58 pm

ok, butthead, which is the PERFECT name for you, you are sitting here talking mess about Jessica, correct? What the hell do you do for a living? It must not be a very good job because all you have to do today is bash someone who make MILLIONS more than you do. Who cares what she does with her life, she isn’t hurting anybody. AND YOU KNOW IF YOU WERE A CELEBRITY YOU WOULD DO THE SAME STUFF, so please for the sake of all of us, SHUT UP.

The other 2 writers who wrote Remember That have never given the name of who they wrote the song about. Jess was only saying that she experienced some form of abuse (she feels for that abused person). No one has ever said Jess’s abuse was from a school. The person who heaped the abuse on Jess (no matter how it was done) knows exactly who did it. The song is being recorded to help anyone who has experienced any form of abuse.

In general abusers are not named normally (usually the one being abused is too embarassed to say). Check the statistics.

Jess has as much right to make a country western CD as any other entertainer out there. How can haters rate something that the CD has not even been released yet?

    Lighten up, Francis … (Leanna)

Show business runs on the opinions of the public. Butthead is well within his rights to voice a negative opinion about Jessica Simpson’s public image, which was built entirely on her reality TV show, and subsequent hawking of numerous low-quality consumer products. She is what she is.

Now, she hints that somebody “abused” her and that this song is based on her experience, even though the professional songwriter with whom Simpson “co-wrote” the song says it’s based on her own experience. That’s an ugly thing to do on so many levels that it is utterly indefensible.

Every time I’ve seen or read of her (which is, sadly, quite unavoidable here on CMT lately) she comes across as immature, self-absorbed, and quite uninteresting. I don’t have to know her to make that judgement. In her performances, she displays little apparent talent - her vocals are breathy, over-wrought and hard to listen to.

Lots of people with no talent have made a lot of money - it will always be so. She’s made her “millions” based on a public image. The people who paid that money didn’t know her, either. So get off your high horse. They get to pay, we get to say they wasted their money.

  • KennyBloggins says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 6:43 pm

    lynn_az-

It’s just silly to say it’s normal not to name the abuser in this case. When you sell your personal life to reality television in order to become a celebrity, then everybody knows the names of the men in your lives - they have already been named - and throwing out the idea that one of them may have abused you is slanderous.

I don’t know what’s in her heart. Maybe she didn’t mean to slander anybody. I’m inclined to think her comments were foolish, rather than malicious, but that doesn’t change the fact that she has left a big stinking cloud over all those men.

And frankly, that cheapens the message of the song, too.

  • M says:

    Posted: August 21st, 2008 at 7:07 pm

HS-I completely agree. She is under no obligation to name names. And once again, none of us know what has happened to her. All we “know” is what the media feed us on a daily basis. Bottom line-she has EVERY RIGHT to sing about it and talk as little or as much as she is comfortable with. And just because she refuses to name names and give details doesn’t mean that she’s lying. Why are we all so inclined to believe the worst in everyone?

    Moving on…

Jess is OK, I think we should all give her a brake. These days everytime an artist from a “different” genre jumps to country everyone seems to give them a hard time. She’s using the fake “abuse” claims as a chance to slander her ex-husband, just as she uses her “real girls eat meat” publicity stunts to attack Tony’s ex. She was teased at school for being a plastic nascissist (which she is). It was deserved (trust me). To claim abuse and slander Nick in the process is vile.

Here Jessica goes again folks. In the short time since she’s gone country, first she brought us Fancy perfume, which just happens to have the same name as Reba’s famous COUNTRY song. Now she’s promoting beer, which happens to have a COUNTRY name “Stampede Light Plus.” LOL! The Stampede web site says the beer is for people who “choose to look after themselves” and that Jessica “is America’s sweetheart and an internationally known entertainer who takes care of herself.” Who are they kidding? I’ve never thought of her as America’s sweetheart — more like America’s tabloid pop tart. She does take care of HERSELF by eating meat, dissing a top country artist and such. Stampede beer supposedly contains vitamins so maybe Jessica got wind of Carrie’s vitamin water deal and poorly tried to copy her again. Wait until you see her classless beer ad photo. LOL Google Jessica Simpson beer ad. The ad says “BE SMART, DRINK SMART.” Kind of conflicts with, well, look for “Jessica Simpson trying to be stupid” on Youtube. LOL The Stampede web site doesn’t even have her song playing, no it’s some mindless rock song. Does this Texas beer company that gave Jessica 15% ownership not even think enough of Texassica’s “country” music to put it on their web site? She probably wants us to cry in our beers over her abuse song, so the timing is good for it to be the next single. I hope it isn’t fake like some people are saying, and since she doesn’t name the abuser that makes me wonder.

Vitamin beer will probably sell so kudos to the beer company. Jessica can laugh all the way to the bank again and if Pappa Joe and Tony get free beer it’s not a bad deal. Wait, since she’s gone country make that Pappy Joe. :)

Not sure how the abuse got to be the topic of this blog, but please write the facts if you are going to touch upon a sensitive topic like abuse. Jessica has never claimed to “write” this song, she has given all credit to Victoria Banks and Rachel Proctor, 2 accomplished writers/singers who wrote about their own experiences of abuse. She has claimed she personally “relates” to the song due to abuse she suffered in a relationship. These are 3 people who all suffered abuse and are taking a risk of exposing themselves and all their pain in the hopes of helping other abuse victims and this is how it is received? YOu may want to read Victoria and Rachel’s reactions on their own sites. They write about how they are aware of these comments like this and it’s like salt in a wound that you would doubt them or their integrity of why they chose to let Jessica sing this rather than any other artist. They are fully aware of who abused her and respect her decision to keep this person’s name out of the limelight. It is one thing to not like an artist, but don’t add to someone’s personal pain. This is why people don’t speak up about abuse in the 1st place - because they are afraid of people’s reactions or that people will doubt them. You have just set back some women from coming forward becayse they are afraid of reactions like this. I hope you can live with that knowledge.

Remember the Kenosha News article about her getting booed at Country Thunder? Maybe that’s where she got the idea to plug beer…

“Just because she’s dating Tony Romo it doesn’t make her country,” said Mike Rodriguez, 31, from Lake Geneva. “She doesn’t fit in with country, and I’ll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert.”

See, she already has beer buyers ready and waiting! Smart move Jessica!

    FW:

Nobody here said the songwriters are lying about their experiences.

But Jessica Simpson exposed her marriage to the public in her reality show. She dates celebrities and talks endlessly about them in interviews. Since she exposes her personal life with other celebrities to the public, saying she was abused in the past automaticaly slanders them all.

She hurts her innocent non-abusers with her vague accusations…sounds like verbal abuse to me. I hope Jessica Simpson can live with the knowledge that because of her irresponsible words, every man she’s been with is now looked at as a possible abuser.

Her name cheapens everything she endorses. Even she doesn’t want to be caught using the things she endorses.

According to CNN Money article entitled “101Dumbest Moments In Business”, JS comes in at #66 for being sued by a clothing company for failing to wear and promote her clothing line:

“Singer Jessica Simpson is sued for $100 million by Tarrant Apparel Group, which claims that she failed to promote her JS by Jessica Simpson and Princy collections.

Among Tarrant’s complaints: In Marie Claire, Simpson cited True Religion, not Princy, as her favorite brand of jeans.”

The article was written by David Horowitz,David Jacobson,Tom McNichol, and Owen Thomas.

  • More Moments says:

    Posted: August 22nd, 2008 at 1:11 pm

Yikes! Maybe Stampede Beer should have checked out the actual court papers on that Jessica Simpson breach of contract at the Smoking Gun. They report:

“Jessica Simpson cut a multimillion dollar licensing deal for low-priced jeans and apparel and then failed to promote them as promised, according to a $100 million breach of contract lawsuit filed yesterday against the singer/actress. The Tarrant Apparel Group alleges that Simpson, 25, failed to support the clothing lines and even refused to be photographed wearing items from the JS by Jessica Simpson and Princy collections. In its New York State Supreme Court complaint, an excerpt of which you’ll find below, Tarrant contends that a three-year deal inked in December 2004 requires Simpson to be “actively involved” in promoting the clothing and that she should wear the garments at “public events, shows, and appearances” whenever “reasonably practicable.” Simpson, the firm charges, “simply failed to provide the promised support.” The complaint also notes that when Simpson was asked by the press last year to name her favorite brand of jeans, “instead of responding ‘Princy,’ she said ‘True Religion.’”"

I think she is extremely beautiful and I would help her sell her beer product because I think it’s a really good or smart idea. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it. Ok, so the abuse she sustained may not be severe or anything. It is probably the kind of stuff we all go through as we grow up, being picked on etc. But I see absolutely no harm in her choosing to express her feelings and get issues off her chest through her music. Who said that you can only discuss abuse if it is serious abuse? My school days were ok, but I had a couple of hard times and I still think about it even though it really isn’t that big a deal- so let her do her thing. She’s a beautiful young woman and I can’t stand when people rip it out of people they don’t know. But it is fine, karma will come and get folk like that in the end. She needs to clear up her abuse claims. By her own admissions she has dated Tony Romo, John Mayer and of course there’s her ex, Nick Lachey. She speaks well of Nick and John every chance she gets. Is she hinting that Romo is the abuser and she can’t come out and say it because she is still with him? Or is she just too full of meat, vitamin beer and herself?

It is hard for me to believe any one would want her help in trying to sell anything. Yes she is thin, wears tight and short clothing but in my opinion that is all she has going for her. She can’t really sing and you certainly don’t want her to open her mouth and talk because when she does it is clear she is not very intelligent. I think she came to country music because she is not wanted in pop music anymore. She is not country at all and has no talent she won’t ever be able to compete with Miranda, Carrie, Kelly or Taylor. Yes she is free to do what she wants just as I am free to say get lost.

It is pretty bad when a 4 year old is smart enough to see through her. We saw her talking with Lance on the country video count down on CMT today and my daughter says that has evil eyes like Ursula from “The Little Mermaid”.

Then I heard Tony (the football player that I love) talking on the phone. I asked him who he was talking to, and he said, “NOT CARRIE UNDERWOOD!” He even showed me his call log and it said “Mary Bunderwood,” who he said is a friend of his mom’s. Then Tony turned beet red and stormed out of the room…I think he had to go to practice even though he already throws a football really good. That’s not the reason I love him, but I have always been a Cowboys fan and I love it when they make home runs and stuff.

She pushes herself out there to be judged. Good or bad she doesn’t care. She is addicted to fame and doesn’t care what she has to do get it or who she has to use. Sell beer, walk around half naked, be unfaithful, or use people and then cast them aside. Her behavior is shameful and not suited to country music. After failing in her pop career and failing in a film career that had her movies going straight to DVD she has no place else to go (unless her dad can get her another stupid reality show)so she is going to try and pull the wool over the eyes of the country music fans and hope that they pay good money for her crap Cd’s.
