And the Weiner for Best Cameo Is … Taylor Swift!

Posted: August 18th, 2008 at 3:02 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Taylor SwiftWhy is Kevin Jonas selling Taylor Swift a hot dog on the streets of New York City? Because she's making an appearance in their upcoming 3-D Disney movie, and it was all just part of one of the scenes. And even though the movie is all about the brotherly trio and their much-revered Burnin' Up tour, I can't help but think they may end up on the cutting room floor because Swift is such a scene stealer.

why does CMT allow this BIASED woman write columns? Every single time she ever writes anything it’s about TS and what an angelic, talented, beautiful, scene-stealer she is, and gushing about how much better she is than all women in country today. NEVER have I seen her write anything positive about other women of country (Carrie Underwood, anyone) and as a matter of fact she bashes them!!! And, she has NEVER written a column about anyone but Ms Swift, does anyone else see something wrong with this???

yes, i do. what a fan club swift has in alison. it is begining to be so boring and out of control. there are so many singers out there that would love to have just a little something written about them. is sonebody on swift’s payroll?

y’all obviously haven’t read the blong Alison wrote intitled “Carrie Underwood captured beautifully.” Allison says Carrie looks beautiful in a sweatshirt or all dressed up! She also writes blogs about some men in country music like Keith Anderson and John Rich ,those are just recent posts. Yes it is obvious that Alison is a fan of Taylor’s but there is nothing wrong with writing about someone you like. Its not like Alison only writes about Taylor. You people should read her other blogs before you say these types of things about people.

UH…..do we need anymore proof that Taylor Swift is NOT country?!? Taylor Swift mentioned on CMT in relation to the JONAS BROTHERS?!? I am getting awfully disappointed in CMT for allowing it! Can we hear more about Melissa Lawson?!? OR maybe Joey and Rory?!? At least they are COUNTRY and up and coming, and far more worth the time and energy spent blogging!! Taylor Swift, Jonas Brother, and DISNEY…….what a perfect POP, teenage GROUP…..NO place in Country Music!!!

I love hearing about Taylor Swift. She’s one of the most popular country artists around these days. Just because she spends time with pop singers doesn’t mean the music she makes isnt country.

I agree with britney. I too love hearing about Taylor Swift. And to Le Ann, that is the most RETARDED thing I’ve ever heard. Taylor is country. Not pop.

Ya, Alison has written a HANDFUL of columns on other artists, but most of them appear to be biased in a “Team Taylor” sort of way. Like in this blog, for example, Alison says, (when referring to Taylor and the JB)

“I can’t help but think they may end up on the cutting room floor because Swift is such a scene stealer.”

That to me is being openly biased, there is no prove Ms. Swift is a scene stealer, it is obviously HER OPINION by the way the phrase was worded. I know she is a columnist, but she should choose her words carefully to stop implying favoritism.

I have nothing against Taylor, I think she’s brought a whole new audience to country, and she is a very talented songwriter.(:

I just don’t think someone on a country music website should appear so biased, it gets a bit old in my opinion.

In just the past week or so, I have written some really nice things about Keith Urban, Darius Rucker, Keith Anderson, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Kid Rock, Carrie Underwood, Randy Travis, John Rich, Phil Vassar, Julianne Hough, Craig Morgan, Jewel and Kenny Chesney. If someone’s in the news or on country radio, that is who will end up in this blog.

When someone is the top selling artist in the genre they usually will get more ink than the others. Deal with it. I am not a fan of Taylor but at the same time they cover who’s popular and she has written articles about Carrie, Keith, and even a real country artist named Jamey Johnson.

good for you alison, isn’t that what you are supposed to do? it just seems swift is always on these blogs. jamey johnson, a male country singer, please cover the girls also.

Alison, you write great do not let anyone take that away from you. Even though I am so very tired of Taylor. I know it is money that keeps her in everyone’s face. I wrote to a Country channel and complained and they wrote back and told me it is not that they pick them it is who pays to put them on. If she could sing I think it would be different. With out all the make up, and props she is not any different than any other teen. Country singers have always relied on there voice and that is what we want to see and hear….. She is holding back other real country singers that need a chance…….She comes on I turn it off. Sorry just my opinion and my friends and family’s opinion.

I agree with CJ when Taylor comes on (radio or tv) my station is changed or muted.
She lacks any singing ability what so ever and her constant self promoting is obnoxious beyond words.
There are a lot great singers trying to get a break but this no talent gets all the press…why???

I have to agree that Taylor cannot sing. She sounds really bad live. I cringe when she does the awards shows because I feel sorry for her. She sounds fabulous on her CD because it is enhance. Her song writing ability is insane but she can’t sing and sound good without help. She is a commercial product and her little tween group will eventually grow up so she is hitting it hard right now to make all she can. Just like the New Kids On The Block ect. True artists with powerful vocals like Carrie, Miranda, Reba, and Martina will be around a long long time. Their fans are diverse.

One thing I never would think is that Taylor Swift’s voice is “pop.” She sounds completely country to me. Sometimes she can sound twangy, but that’s part of her appeal. She’s a talented songwriter and even though I’m much older, I enjoy listening to her take on relationships. Her music is fun even when she’s singing about a break-up.

As for hanging out with pop stars — isn’t it good that country music is getting some mainstream teen attention? Many adult country singers have had crossover success, why not someone that appeals to teens?

I would actually like to see a video made of her performance with the Jonas Bros. — not a grainy amateur recording on youtube (it’s already there), but something like her performance on the ACM show that’s been playing as a video on CMT lately.

And if she’s dating a Jonas Brother, then more power to her. It would be good to see a nice, country girl get the guy. They seem to have a lot in common anyway. And since they’re all supposed to be songwriters, maybe they could collaborate like Tim and Faith have done.
