Watch VMAs. See Kid Rock.
Now that so many country fans have crossed over into the world where it's OK to love Kid Rock, you should know that he'll be performing "All Summer Long," his Southern rock ode to summertime pleasures, on MTV's Video Music Awards on Sept. 7. So it's a must-see, no matter what music you're into.
If you're a hardcore traditional country fan who only wants to hear familiar music, though, you may want to sit this one out. Half the nominees are artists you've probably never even heard of. But I hold all music videos in such high regard that I have to tune in. In the 25 years since MTV started the VMAs, these videos have come such a long way. And I get sucked into every little detail. Whether it's obsessing over Taylor Swift's eyelid bling in her video for "Teardrops on My Guitar" or wondering why John Rich is playing a banjo in Nickelback's "Rockstar" clip, I can't tear myself away from a good video. (And Trey Fanjoy did some of her best work on that "Teardrops" video, contributing to Swift's nomination for best new artist.)
But beyond all the slick production of the videos, you pretty much have to watch. Just in case. This is MTV, after all. And it's live TV. What if someone has a wardrobe malfunction? What if someone drops an F-bomb? Or worse, what if someone shows up with a little buzz, messy hair, a glittery bra and stumbles through her dance moves with the rhythm of a preschooler? Live TV is predictably unpredictable, and MTV only makes it more so.

If you are talking about Britny Spears don’t forget the year that she made out with Madonna. I agree, anything can and will happen on this show!
tammy says:
i personally think that kid rock belongs on mtv or some other show that he can relate to because country is not it. these days people think that just cause they put on a cowboy hat that they can sing counrty. that simply is not true. no matter how hard he trys he will never be country.

I like his song but he belongs on MTV not country…..Just does not work for me….He should take Jessica with him. Sorry just my opinion.
Kenny D says:
Got nothing against people making $$. However, you would think the “low life” police would respect more of the people’s view of country music than to let the stray dogs run around.
Sorry you can’t find a place Kid, keep looking and find another door to scratch on.
I can’t be the only one thinking this! Am I?

Kid will be the only reason I will be watching the VMA’s! I don’t think Kid is trying to take over country music. He just loves the many varieties of music and is talented enough to be successful at many kinds. Just wait for his new song, Roll On, that will be released soon. You’ll love it!! His voice is great!
Darren says:
God he no more country than a man in the moon, where do they get off? In my opinion pukes like him are an insult to the country music industry
