Outsiders Inn: A Dream Come True
Outsiders Inn airs Fridays at 8:30/7:30c on CMT.
I’ve been working in show business for over 40 years, and Outsiders Inn was the most fun I’ve ever had doing a show. It was absolutely just a hoot! The whole thing was improvisation, and they would just give us a situation and we just had to run with it and see what would happen. We never ever knew what was going to happen from second to second. It was like being at camp, it was so much fun! As an actress it’s your ultimate dream to be able to do improv. It’s just THE most fun thing I’ve ever done. It was something I haven’t done before and I really love doing new things and stretching myself, and I feel like I really did stretch myself doing this show, plus I was able to work with Bobby Brown and Carnie Wilson, and I’m a huge, huge fan of both of theirs. And I got to run a bed and breakfast which has always been a dream of mine.
I think both Bobby and I have been through a lot and we really bonded on Gone Country. And Carnie’s been through a lot too, and I think the three of us just really kind of united and felt this immediate closeness. Bobby is the entertainment director at the Inn. He did a good job most of the time, but he got into some problems along the way. Like one time he had to go bear hunting. And when you go bear hunting, you’ve got tons of dogs sniffing out the bears, and he doesn’t like dogs. He doesn’t like big dogs, and it was absolutely hilarious. Carnie’s job was the chef at the Inn, and it was very, very hard staying on a diet with Carnie’s cooking because she was on a really strict diet the whole show, and she was getting skinnier while everyone else was getting fatter because she was making macaroni and cheese and cheesecake and bread pudding. I mean, the guests and the crew just went crazy over her cooking.
One of my best friends comes to the Inn. I can’t say who it is, but it’s one of my best friends and I was totally shocked! We have a honeymoon couple that comes to the Inn and they want their bathtub filled with lime Jello. We had an animal courtship conference come to the Inn. Carnie and I get thrown into jail … I mean it was just crazy. We never knew from day to day what was going to happen next.
The locals were the best! I mean, from the mayor of Cocke County to the people that worked at Wal-Mart, everyone was incredible. I enjoyed being in Newport, I enjoyed being with my buddies Carnie and Bobby and I loved not knowing what was going to happen from minute by minute. To me that’s living and that’s when life is the most fun! And running the Inn and being with them, it was a dream come true, it really was. People should watch the show because it’s going to be hilarious. I think it’s just going to be one of the funniest things ever. We had so much fun doing it, and when you have so much fun doing it, I think people will enjoy watching it. I can’t until it’s on, and I can’t wait to see what the fans think, and I can’t wait to watch it! I’d love to see Outsiders Inn go for more than one season. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Enjoy the show!

Joyce Williams says:
I’m from Newport, TN (Cocke County) and I want to tell you all “Thanks” for coming to our great county and spending time with us. I did not meet you but I felt your presents by all of the media coverage. Now they are making a big
thing of the Mayor bring “moonshine” to you all at the “Outsider’s Inn” but about 12 years ago I had some huge county and rocks jams on our farm, one was “Lollapaloza” and “Rock The Smokies” sponsored by US Tobacco, with close to 500,000 tickets given free to the concert in 1996 and even the Sheriff at the time was selling moonshine at the jam site out of the trunk of his car.
We’re not a bad town, just a lot of bad rumors have followed us for trying to do good things.
Again,
Thanks,
Joyce Williams
Joyce says:
The date on the above comment was wrong. It should have been 1993.
Pam Irwin says:
Hey Maureen,
I am so excited about tonight. I already have my DVR set to record all of the epasodes so I can enjoy them over and over.
I really enjoyed the Gone Country show and you were my favorite. You have the heart and soal of someone I wish I had as a friend. We grew up together and have never even met. I know you hear that all the time but it is true. I just feel like I have a connection to you.
I wish you the very best of luck and I know that the show is going to be great.
Friends,
Pam 8-15-08
Angela Hillesland says:
You did a wonderful job on the Gone Country Series! It was delightful to watch you interface with such a dynamic group. I’m sure this show will be fun to watch as well.
D.B. Cooper says:
I’m really looking forward to your new show. I’m a fan of all three of you, but like every other red-blooded American boy, I was once “in love” with Marsha Brady! I’m glad that your experiences in East Tennessee were good ones and I hope that you get to do another season.
All the best to you!
shelly says:
hey Maureen im sooo excited about seeing the show tonight, I know you had some dealings with the marsha, marsha , marsha image. I love it that you will now be able to be known for something else,(BIG) and im sure you are also excited !! I have a great idea ,when (not if) the secound season gets rolling why dodn’t you all have a online contest to win a weekend at the BB !!!! I think it will go over soooooo well !!! I will fer sure enter everyday !!! Good luck to all of you and the show !!!! shelly and ray
shelly says:
sorry had to reenter email it was wrong !!!
Kate says:
I am from Cocke County, and I think your show is repulsive. You went out of your way to make fun of our county and its people. You staged fictional businesses, portrayed us as a “dry county” of moonshine running hicks, and I don’t appreciate it one bit. CMT should be ashamed of itself. We have enough bad press without you buying into every negative stereotype that has ever been pushed on us without pulling out actors and every toothless person you can find!
hunter says:
This place looks like a hoot! but what is the adress? I would like to stay some weekend
Ruth says:
I caught the reruns of Gone Country 1. You, Bobby, and Carnie are hilarious together. I couldn’t wait for tonight’s airing of Outsiders’ Inn and I was in stitches. I loved you on Celebrity Fit Club and am enjoying your new adventures!
Vickie Birch says:
Maureen, I learned about your show from watching “Gone Country” & I was so surprised & thrilled. I loved the 3 of you in the 1st Gone Country & thought you really connected with each other. Whoever had the idea of putting you together in this show is a genius! Anyway, after watching the first 5 minutes I went into the bedroom where my husband had been watching TV to see if he was watching your show, he was, so we watched it together. I can’t tell you how great it is to have “real” reality. We laughed & enjoyed the 1st show so much. The hour just flew by. Now I have to wait until next Fri. to see another episode:( PLEASE CMT give us more than just 8 episodes. Lots of love & all the best, Vickie
The Ol Road Hog says:
Wow! Us Connecticut and Maine Yankees loved the first episode!! We’ve even driven through there on the way to Gatlinburg. We have LOTS of good ‘n’ country friends in Tennessee and North Carolina and we don’t find anything wrong with a drink of high quality ’shine. Although I’m not sure I’d drink the clear stuff like they had on Episode 1, I tend to like mine aged a little bit longer! Best wishes for big success with the show! We will be watching faithfully. We love your supporting cast members Leroy, Mike and Todd a lot, they seem like true “locals”. I bet the Whiteheads were too.
“Don’t DRINK outa the rain barrel.”
F. Keith Haywood says:
I just watched the first episode, it was a hoot! I will definitely try to watch the remaining 7 epidodes. I don’t know what Kate’s problem is, but she need to get a life. I am from the South (North Carolina) and there is nothing wrong with being labeled a ‘redneck’, ‘hillbilly’, or’Moonshiner’. If it weren’t for these type people, there would not be a NASCAR!
Pat says:
Loved the Outsiders Inn show! Great to see you so often again on television. Loved you on Paula Deen! Also on Gone Country. We all need gentle huggy kissy women like you in the world. We are the same age.
Scott says:

COME ON, IVE BEEN WAITING 38 YEARS!…please? I promise not to let my kids throw any sort of balls around the my house for the next 48 hours.
Lora Sutton says:
I am from Del Rio a little town outside of Newport. I just wanted to say the show is a joke to me and anyone else who lives in Cocke County. If they have any Pride or Respect for themselves they will feel the same way i do. I’m sure there will be more than just me angry with the way Maureen and the CMT crew has portrayed us. Yes our history is full of moonshine, and to you city slickers its just something else to make a big deal of and it’s another way to get your face plastered on the television. We all have our downfalls here in Cocke County but this is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and the people here or atleast most of us have some class and are proud of where we live and go to school at.In addition to all of this just wanted to say thank you to our one and only mayor for ruining our already made fun of county!!!!!!!! Congrats on another Job Well Done Illif!!!!
Sheri Frost says:
OH MEIN GUT! I have never laughed so hard in my life! The “finger pointing” with Bobby was the biggest scream! You guys have great on screen chemistry. Congrats!
Ps - I’m not from that town, and while I realize it’s all good fun - you guys should let the public know the town really isn’t that hickified!
Dee From STRAW PLAINS says:
Maureen (MARSHA BRADY) I just watched your show. I can’t tell you how disappointed, hurt, and insulted I felt by it. I wasn’t born here, but I have lived here in East Tennessee, near to Cocke County for a good long while so this is my home, and my neighbors you humiliated and made sport of. It disgusted me to see you portray the fine people here as if they were ignorant, and uncivilized. I am just sorry you still aren’t in the County Jail. You still have the attitude of the Brady Bunch Marsha and it shows through completely in the way you portrayed our citizens. SHAME SHAME DOUBLE SHAME ON YOU! GO BACK TO HOLLYWOOD, YOU BIG FAT SELF CENTERED HAS BEEN..YOU ARE NOT WELCOME AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD..I HOPE THIS SHOW GETS CANCELED. Give me the Fine, God Fearing, Hard Working, Charitable, and Caring People Of East Tennessee that you forgot to include anytime, over you self centered Hollywood Types. If you want to portray US right, Take a LESSON FROM DOLLY PARTON..
PS MY FAVORITE EPISODE ON THE BRADY BUNCH WAS WHEN YOU GOT YOUR NOSE SQUASHED >> SUITED YOU PERFECTLY THEN AND SUITS YOU NOW !!!
Jeff Thompson says:
Maureen ,
You did wonderful as always !!! I have admired your work through the years. Just the other day my daughter and I were watching the first season of I dream of Jeannie and saw your cameo in the hospital episode.
You still look beautiful after all these years! Thanks for all the great memories!
Donna says:
I live in Cocke County and loved the show. I think it was done in good humor, the Cocke County Community needs to get a sense of humor if they were offended. Not everyone is like they depicted but yes some are and that’s what we love about the area. You will never meet a nicer and more diverse group of people. We were fortunate they chose our location for the show and I hope they come back for more seasons. With the ave income for Cocke County at $13,500 we should welome any new business opportunities. We are farmers ourselves and although we don’t wear bib overalls all the time they sure are comfortable.
Pat says:
If you wanted to do this show, why not just call it a comedy. It is not real and you know it. You stated in USA Today that it is “softly scripted and quests were handpicked”. Had you called the show a comedy, many people would have enjoyed it more and not have been offended. Remember Dukes of Hazzard?
pearl lindsey says:
i watched the show and i loved it.thanks for selecting newport.we here in cocke do have a bad name, but we are good people here as you have found out.
Wrong says:
It was obvious how stageed and un real the show was. I have never seen people dressed like that in Cocke County. I know we don’t have a pool shop in Cocke County. This is the most unreal reality show I have ever seen. It is sad how a show will portray a county and their people. I would ask anyone to visit this area, visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that is in Cocke County, go whitewater rafting in Cocke County. Cocke County is located 45 min. from knoxville, 1 hr from Asheville, 1 hr from Johnson City. It has isolated areas like any county, but is not quite what the show makes it out to be. Cocke County has the quickest driving route to Gatlinburg, especially if you don’t like sitting in traffic on Hwy 66 in Sevier County. I agree with someone earlier that we would welcome new businesses, but with our average adult only having a 12th grade education, what kind of jobs do oyu expect them to be qualified for. Also, the newest per capita income studies show 15,000 per person, that is if they will work and not live off collecting a check. Yes, this is still low, but everything goes back to education. Bring a high tech manufacturer here and where would you get the workforce? Not locally!
Steven Jones says:
I live in Cocke County and I think this show was a total waste of it’s 30 minute time slot as it was unreal staged garbage. It is a slap in the face to the citizens of the county and to ever southern who may not embrace it’s values but do not wish for the southern region to be so badly represented.Cancel the show now and actually make a show that focuses on the good things of the south and this county. No one deserves to have there county and heritage so falsely represented.Shame on you all for participating in this to make a buck to attempt to revive your has-been careers.Do what everyone else does to do that join Dancing with the stars not ravage and plunder a innocent county with sterotypical garbage.
Jim says:
I just talked with a friend of mine who lives in Newport. She was disappointed in the show because of the fake businesses and phony characters. Try the Bobarosa sometime for a taste of REAL Cocke County culture. All I can say is I’m glad it was Cocke county who is left with egg on its face instead of my county. And the mayor, who encouraged such derogatory depictions, should be impeached. At the very least, vote him out Cocke County!!!
matt says:
I live in Greeneville been to Cocke county numerous times and this isn’t the real Cocke county that i know and love.No one in Cocke county is really like that in fact a lot pf people don’t even like Country or bluegrass music.Never seen one person wearing overalls(there are some i would say,but not like this made it out to be) or one person with missing teeth(once again probably a few but so does Hollywood) .As for a dry county B.S. there is a few bars and the selling of alcoholic drinks in Newport. The young crowd of Newport like to drink now and then, listen to music, skateboard, play sports,hunt,fish,etc..normal things that anyone would do in any county not this stereotype that is portrayed here in this show.
jessica says:
I am another fellow Cocke County resident that has an opinion about the show. We are definitely considered redneck moonshine drinking hell raisers but was it really necessary to magnify that for entertainment purposes? Yes we have the types of people that were portrayed in the first episode here, and it was for entertainment only, but for once we would like to be displayed as something different. There are more episodes to come and I hope that they will exhibit the Cocke County that we are all proud of. If you wanted to be in a dry county of 7,000 maybe that is where you should have taped this show.
Jeri says:
Oh My God! I laughed so hard last nite I thought I would p** in my pants! Thankfully I did not! whew!
Maureen I had No Idea you 3 could be so funny, you all were great! But I have to admit the people coming to the Inn and in the Store were even more funny..
We have been needing a real laugh for a long time now. The kind of laugh that cannot be contained. You all gave it to us.
Thanks so much! We can hardly wait till the next episode airs. ha ha ha ha just the thought makes me laugh.
see ya soon ~ Jeri
Katy says:
What ever was CMT thinking??? I am a transplant to Newport and for the life of me was left totally perplexed as to what you were trying to portray by stepping on the morale of our beautiful county. We should all rally together to impeach the mayor for backing this 100% and his deeds were the most unprofessional illegal actions of anyone in office in Cocke County in the past century. I plead with CMT to cancel this.
Lily says:
I love this show!! HOLLYWOOD MEETS HEE HAW. Hilarious!!
Diana Moore says:
I live in Sevier Co. and totaly ejnoyed the show and I would like to be a guest at the Outsiders Inn.
Loved the show
Wrong says:
Yeah, it was funny it said a county of 7,000. Try a county of 37,000 and definately not dry with liquor by the drink and beer sales. Just a bunch of washed up never was celebrities and a network that is trying to keep pace with real reality shows. This one is definately a flop.
Janet Avery says:
Maureen, I watched the outsiders Inn for the first time today. I really loved it. All three of you were great. I remember watching the Brady Bunch as a kid. I,m 51 years old now. Keep up the good work. I will be watching more of the Outsiders Inn on CMT. I just love that chanel Janet
Hilary BC says:
Ilive in Knox county just a few counties over from Newport. I know it is pretty rural and country, but I have been there a lot and I have never seen so many men in checked shirts and overalls as I did on your show. You made Cocke county look like an episode of Hee Haw. i appreciate the campiness, but shame on you for making Newport residence look so stupid.
judy says:
i watched this show tonight,i just love it,it’s a hit to me !!!
Elaine says:
Ya know Mo I live about 35 minutes from newport and ya know i thought the show was great, to the people that have wrote in and talking about how you all made the people here look bad, well thats silly. They make fun at people that live here in east TN all the time down at the comedy barn in pigeon forge and no one says anything about them. I think its a tv show and thats it, i wish people wouldnt take it so personally. I have found it very funny and in this life we need something to make us laugh. If we cant laugh at ourselves then we are pretty sad, I suppose those that have written in to complain about how this show made them look has never in there life made fun of anyone they must be so perfect. They need to look at there own selve before throwing any stones… Keep it up. Dont let a few get ya down.
scarlet says:
Funny show thats all. I know people from Tennessee have been made fun of- as it happened to me . But this is comedy and very funny. Laugh along Tennessee! You know this is not the real Tennessee nor a normal version of everyone who lives in Cocke County. Now if Big and Rich decide to visit please put me and my sister on the front row. He sure was cute when he stepped off the helicopter in his coat.Good Job Maureen!
JonnyLaw says:
As a lifelong resident of this backwoods redneck county, I just wanted to say thank you for making a psuedo staged reality type show. I can’t remember laughing so hard. To all the haters…fu#@ off. If you can not see the exagerated humor then you are truely retarded. You don’t think hundreds of communities like ours have been portrayed with stereotypes? Get over yourselves and have fun with it. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. If you can’t laugh at yourself you are truely a sad individual.
CONNIE says:
HI MAUREEN I’M CONNIE FROM CALIFORNIA I JUST LIKE TO SAY IT’S GREAT TO SEE YOU ON TV AGAIN. I’M A BIG FAN . YOU BRING SO MUCH HAPPINESS TO TODAYS TV WORLD THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING WONDERFUL SPIRITED LADY. BEST WISHES FOR YOUR NEW SHOW . KEEP SMILING YOUR ONE OF THE BEST HEARTS IN THE WORLD. BYE FOR NOW
Nikkie says:
Wow. I really am shocked and disappointed in CMTs decision to ever be part of such a false portrayal of a rural county with good people living here. Are all of our citizens college educated? Sadly,no. But then, are we checkered shirt wearing, tater water drinking, cow testicle eating idiots? HELL NO. I’ve lived here my entire life, and I have never heard of tater water, nor have I ever heard of testicle consumption, except on the travel channel. I’m proud of where I’m from, and how I was raised. It’s not even the point that this sorry excuse for a reality show is completely scripted, the point is that the choice was made to portray our cozy little town in a completely false light. This is way beyond the scope of being scripted, it’s insulting! My family has lived here for generations, and I am not ashamed of our town, which by the way, consists of more than your viewers were shown.
This town is full of good, honest hard-working people, and let me tell you, I would much rather be surrounded by all of them than you three snooty has-beens. I hope it’s cancelled tonight. I also would like all three actors to know that they have lost any respect they might have had. They should be ashamed. CMT should be ashamed. Anyone who supports this should be as well.
LORRAINE DELMONTE says:
I loved the first season of Gone Country and was anticipating enjoying this new reality show spinoff but it just seems to miss the mark.
I mean no disrespect to any of the three stars as they all gave stellar performances on Gone Country. But this show was a major letdown and far from reality!!
Am I the only one who thinks its just too contrived and staged and not that funny?
hunter says:
WHERE IS THIS PLACE LOCATED? WHATS THE ADRESS? WHY ARE YOU KEEPING IT A SECRET? DONT YOU REALY WANT COSTOMERS?
Wrong says:
Look up the website. The real name is Christopher Place. It is very high end and not cheap at all, but well worth the visit. It is also only about 20 minutes to gatlinbutg and pigeon forge. The owner of the inn made them change the name for the show so it wouldn’t reflect badly on them.
It will look like a different place if you visit. From the first show, it looked like almost everything was changed for the filming.
Wrong says:
The taping has been finished now for over a month, and the “guests” were all actors. Not much reality there.
Darren says:
Good show ,we will ride there from kingsport and check out christopher place while stopping at barbarosa.my wife is a dolly parton look alike if you ever look for a actor in a second season.I have a southern talk and manage a well known resturaunt.if i could be included in some way.we will watch the rest of the episodes ‘for shur’
Vickie Birch says:
Oh my goodness you people who are complaining need to get a life. I don’t think you’re giving enough credit to CMT viewers or anyone who had anything to do with the making of the show. There are all types of reality shows out there. The first to come to mind is “My Big Redneck Wedding”. Heaven forbid if that show makes everyone think that every southern girl would want wacky weddings as seen on that show. Our world is made up of all types of people. You’re not being judged by the area in which you live. And only God judges ALL of us anyway. I surely didn’t get from watching Outsiders Inn that everyone in Cocke Co. was toothless & wore overalls. I think that the ones complaining have done your beautiful co. more injustice than anything portrayed in the show. I happen to be a southerner & am proud of that fact. From what I saw of the area it looks beautiful, the landscape AND the people. I can’t wait to see more!
Sherry Cockerham says:
Maureen,
I love your show! You, Bobby, and Carnie are totally Awesome! I haven’t laughed so much in I don’t know how long. You guys are a true hit. I know you will be on the air many seasons. Indiana Loves You!!!!!
kim franklin says:
I am from the neighboring county of Greene. This has to be the most disgusting show I’ve ever seen. Did the people of Cocke County not realize how much fun was being made of them. There is alot of rich heritage in that county and I would have though they would be totally disgusted at the way they were made fun of.
Why didnt you just name a street fruit jar alley like is in Newport? To me, this just makes fun of the southern people once again….way to go Hollywood! And btw….I just lost all respect for the Brady Bunch re-runs.
Laura Sapp says:
Hey Mo,Larry, and Curly,Lol I love this show, it is awesome! I followed yah all on Gone Country,Celebrity fit club, and now this Outsider”s Inn, And I think and always new Bobby had a big heart and can be very sweet! I hope you all have a contest or something like that because I really want to come and see you all, and get a personnal tour of this place. Keep up the great work you 3 do together, and this is such a wonderful and funny show to watch! Yah all really acted like the 3 stooges it was a blast, and yah all are so sweet and kind and look out for each other, as people in everyday life should do! God Bless yah all and I am from St.Clair Shores,Michigan, right next to Detroit! Keep having fun on this show! Love all 3 of yeah Laura Sapp
KC says:
Ok-
So I see why some people may be angry with the way things were handled in the show, but I found that the one person who had to be rude and call out Maureen McCormick for being a “has been” and so on, was a little un called for. You said you were hurt by what they did on the show…I think you should leave it at that. You are doing the same thing to her, that you said she and the rest of the show was doing to you. I’m only saying this because even I felt hurt by the comments you were making about her…I would do the same for you if she got on here and bashed you. They are acting in a show…I watched the show and didn’t think of anyone in the show as bad people, or thought bad of the town. It was humor. I live in Andy Griffith’s home town…everyone who comes here thinks it’s Mayberry and that we all talk and act like Goober or Barney. We don’t though. I have just learned to “shock” people with the fact it’s a totally different place and we are eduacated here…and in the South, lol. Anyway, I hope I haven’t offended anyone…it wasn’t my intention….and by the way…you are awesome Maureen! Love your personality!!
Agnes Cameron says:
The show is awful.I have lived here in Newport all my life and it seems like you were making fun of the people who live here and all of us here in Tennessee. It was very embarrasing to me and I don’t like it at all so I will not be watching it again and see you make fun of us.
Jules says:
Hey Mo! I live in Southwest VA actuall about 3 hrs from the area that Outsiders Inn was filmed. I followed Fit Club, Gone Country and now Outsiders Inn, I have to say I love the show! I simply cannot believe that people could call Maureen a “has been” I do not think the way the area is depcited has anything to do with the shows cast. I think it is simply trying to get the point across that they are in a rural southern community. I do not think they are trying to depict the community at a bunch of uneducated hillpeople as stated above. AGAIN LOVE THE SHOW! Would love to see you guys do more work together!
Chris says:
Hey Maureen, I just caught your show for the first time and laughed so hard it actually hurt. I am from TN. and not far away from where you filmed. I LOVED IT! Sometimes people get their noses out of joint about things like that, saying you were making fun of them, but the truth is I actually know and have met people here just like that. I think the show is Great! and will be at the top of my list of things to watch from now own. For all you other Tennessean’s Get Over It! we have had that rep for a long time and so what, the show was hilarious! The original “The Beverly Hillbillies” were from TN. even though some say Arkansas I have seen enough shows to know they talk about back in the hills of TN. but you never heard anyone complaining about that. It’s all in fun and I would love to stay at your Inn anytime… I hope CMT knows a good thing when they have it!!! Good Luck Yours Truly…
Chris says:
P.S. After I read more comments seems it was mostly people in and around Cocke county that had a problem with the way they were portrayed. If you really want to film in a county like that just contact me and I will give you several ideas of where and they would absolutely love to have you… GREAT Show thanks for making us laugh again when we need it so much…
Lisa says:
This show is just wrong. I grew up in Cocke County and Parrottsville, I did not see everyone running around in checked shirts and overalls missing teeth. Education in this area is not subpar and from the show I watched, it was like a thowback to a different generation. I am disappointed in CMT and the way the south and especially East Tennessee are portrayed. Some of the nicest, most caring people I know come from this area. Yes, there are moonshiner’s and snake handler’s but these people are in the minority, not the majority. In fact, my parents have moved back to this wonderful area after living away so many years and are renewing lifelong acquaintances.

Total Trash!
You people should be ashamed of yourself for doing this to our great county and its citizens.
This crap is totally false! Why would you go to Brocks to buy groceries when you would pass a WalMart and 3 other large chain stores along the way?
How long did it take you to find the guy with no teeth that was willing to be paid to look stupid at the checkout counter?
No pool store in Newport and I have lived here for 38 years and have never heard the term “Tater Water” or have never seen a person eat a testicle! Seeing someone wearing overalls is an exception these days not the norm!
Oh, and we know what bottled water is as well!
Next time do us all a favor and stay out of our town!
Shawn G says:
I am from Indiana, and I want to say how glad I am that the 3 of you are together on this show. I really loved how you, Bobby and Carne clicked on Gone Country. I just finished watching your first episode, and I laughed so hard that I was crying and couldn’t even breathe. Just read some of the other comments. I wouldn’t pay any attention to their comments, its true they are they are a bunch of hicks, and so am I. But you are all funny. Keep up the good work. I think you have a great show on your hands, and those are very hard to find these days. Goodluck
Big Mike says:
I loved the show. It was great. I am from Cocke County and for the ones that are crying here get over it. For the love of God you would think they filmed the show at an orphanage and burned it down. It’s a TV show. Thank God that you all came to Cocke County. Please come back. I hope your TV show is a hit See ya Friday at 8:30
If you would read the disclaimer at the end of the show for the ones that are crying :( WE LOVE YOU.

I’ve watched the first show and I absolutely luuuuuuv it.I live in Ohio and I am a hillbilly and proud of it,I have never been to Tennesee but, I have had people ask me if I’m from Tennesse, alabama,Georgia and different southern states.Although my dad’s people and my mother’s side bothare from the state of fast horses and wild women as they say(Kentucky) Can’t wait for the next show.Bobby you’d best quit thqt there cat nappin and get you’re entertainment in order and by all mean use that there piano you bought and remember now I’ll be back now ya here?
SlykTaynt says:
Maureen, now don’t you go worryin’ about them hypocrites in Newport. When I was locked up over there over a complication with my parole it were’nt too bad. At least I was safe in lock-up. They like to dive into their own gene pool if you know what I mean. You look fabulous after all of these years. I had a crush on you as a kid and find myself still filled with wonder lust looking into them pretty blue eyes. Does Carnie really cook? Is Leroy really living in that trailer? Does he smell?
shawn says:
the whiteheads are locals, they’re from Alcoa, Hoot is from Happy Valley, now in the Park. Carrie is my Dad’s big sister-they’re from Calderwood; a town on the Blount County/NC line that’s not there anymore. They are minor celebs in E. TN for their bluegrass playing.
Bob says:
Great to hear of something going on in Cocke County. I actually live in Morristown which is about 25 minutes away. I work in Newport and had no idea anything was going on like this til today…This looks like the place off in the country near Cosby off of Bogard Road……if it iant it sure looks close enough like it
SHANEA DYER says:
i have lived in cocke county all my life and we are not as stupid as you are making us look. we may not have as much as you people do but we have what we need. Also we do have more than a store called brocks, we have a wal-mart,food city, save-a-lot, and plenty of convient stores, and we do have something more than down here fhan tater water and if you were so much smarter than us you know its called moonshine . I as well as other don’t appreciate you coming down here making fun of us. i am sure you would not like us to make fun of you 3 has beens. if you cast enjoyed it so much why did they make us look like a bunch of dumb a– rednecks
SHANEA DYER says:

ROOSTER says:
the show was a drag i was very upset watching it. i never liked bobby wife beater and never liked the brady bunch. we are not as stupid as you are making us look like . i say as well as the rest of the pissed off people in cocke county kiss our ass jerks
and for the mayor f–c off a– hole
Pete Webb says:
“Outsiders Inn” is a form of entertainment, not a documentary! The city people(Maureen, Bobby, and Carny) make themselves look ridiculous while dealing with the locals who make themselves look ridiculous. Please enjoy it for what it is…….FUNNY! Gee, I wonder if all those characters in the movie “Deliverance” or “All in the Family” were real? Thanks, Maureen!
Mahle says:
WRONG… as to your posting on 8/16/08 … you are right, it is the most unreal reality show ever made … but I am afraid your last paragrah/comment has caused more harm to the people and to our county than any TV show could ever do … Thanks Pal
Emily says:
SlykTaynt…
How do you know anything about the people of Newport when you spent your time here in lock up! To enlighten you about the people of Newport, we are hard working, family oriented, God fearing folks! So, while you were serving time, for probation problems, how many honest, friendly, loyal to their county people, did you get to meet? Don’t judge unless you want to be judged!!!! Maybe you need to spend time in lock up in what ever county you are from. That way when you meet hypocrites they will already be acquainted with you!!!
JACKI says:
this show is a complete disgrace to us. we may be rednecks but we have more heart and love for our town than anyone. and if you dont know us personally you have no reason to judge us. if the only people you meet was when you were in jail then what does that say for you, dont put us down if your not to perfect yourself.im very proud to be from “COCKE COUNTY” AND ITS SO CHILDISH THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO MAKE FUN OF THAT, GROW UP ITS CALLED A LIFE GET ONE.
Lora Sutton says:
ANOTHER THOUGHT JUST CAME TO ME AS I READ THE COMMENT FROM SLYKTAYNT. I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT YOUR OBVIOUSLY VERY BLIND OR NEED GLASSES BECAUSE MAUREEN HASNT BEEN PRETTY SINCE SHE WAS LIKE 16 AND FILMING THE BRADY BUNCH CANT YOU SEE THAT SHE IS LIKE REALLY FAT AND I CANT BELEIVE THAT YOU ARE STILL LUSTING AFTER HER AFTER ALL THESE YEARS EWWWWW! THATS GROSS. BUT WHAT EVER OHH AND ONE MORE THING YOU NEED TO GO GET A HISTORY BOOK AND READ UP ON WHERE ALL OF US PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES ORIGINATED FROM IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT SOMEWHERE IF YOU WENT BACK FAR ENOUGH WE ARE ALL KIN SOME HOW I TAKE THE COMMENT ABOUT JUMPIN TO OUR OWN GENE POOL VERY OFFENSIVE THATS REDICULOUS HOW STUPID CAN YOU REALLY BE IF YOU REALLY WANT INBRED PEOPLE GO TO MORRISTOWN THERE IS SOME REAL CHARACTERS OVER THERE IF YOU WANNA TALK TRASH THATS FINE BUT I CAN TALK TRASH RITE BACK. JUST BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE DONT HAVE MANY TEETH OR THE FANCIEST CLOTHES TO WEAR DONT MEAN WERE INBRED SO TAKE THAT AND SMOKE IT DUMBASS.
Sherry says:
Maureen,
As I have grown up with you and now have the opportunity to see who you have become..I say this to you…we need more people like you in this world.. you are very kind and always want to make people happy..your heart is warm, your smile is big..life to you and your true self is very important….never forget to treat yourself as well…I think that you and Carnie and Bobby all have developed a friendship that many people would love to have….you are an angel that has been long awaited to be discovered…you have been a true friend to all that I have seen come into your life…you have patients and you care from your heart…and to think I don’t even know you personally….I hope if ever givin the oppertunity to meet you and go for a walk and just talk about today you would take me upon it…I must say you are beautiful on the inside as well as the outside…and I hope you are filled with all the blessing that you have givin to others….KUDDOS to you.
Tammy says:
Maureen, Carnie and Bobby,
I must say that I thought the show was rather funny. Perhaps alittle far fetched but funny to say the least. Certainly beats watching all those “to serious” drama shows. Good to have a laugh. Looks like some ppl need to lighten-up on their attitudes about the show, the best solution for them is to Change The Channel!
Jennifer says:
I’m yet another resident of Cocke County to chime in on the absolute disgust I continue to feel about this show. I think one of the main problems is that the “show” is portrayed as a reality show. What viewers don’t realize is that the “main” characters in overalls, are hired actors. It’s beyond offensive to be portrayed as completely uneducated hillbillies, when it couldn’t be further from the truth. Would the show still be completely inane and a waste of tv time if it were labeled as a comedy? Yes, most definitely, but at least people wouldn’t be led to believe the “reality” you’ve edited to be our county. The people in my county are the most generous, the most friendly, and the hardest working people you’ve ever met. We deserve better than to be humiliated on national television. I’m certain that the vast majority of locals who appeared in the show were only told that it was a reality show and not the ridiculous mockery CMT has presented. I’m not against making a little fun of yourself, that’s life. I do, however, think that purposefully misleading people and belittling them on a national arena is disrespectful and morally repugnant. If you want a true picture of my community, try something original and pick up Catherine Marshall’s Christy or any of Wilma Dykeman’s novels.

yes that is really my name, i was named after your character. i loved watching the brady bunch. anyway enough bout that i love the new show, it makes me laugh, i’ve never come across a show that holds my interest and makes me laugh the way i do. great job! my boyfriend who isn’t into country found it funny and is willing to watch it as a regular show til the end
Josie D. says:
When I heard there would be a spinoff to Gone Country I thought “oh no not another reality show”. To my surprise this show is absolutely hysterical. I find myself laughing out loud. Something today’s reality shows usually don’t do for me.

you all i love it cant wait till the next 1 airs tonight.
lol you all i laughed so hard , thanks !

Karen Kervin says:
Maureen,
After the Brady Bunch, you seemed to drop out, apparently to raise kids and lay low. I went to Charles Evans Hughes Jr. High and saw you there on occasion. It did seem that the fame was more than you could handle as a kid, but the whole country loved you as Marcia. I stumbled across your new show today and laughed my butt off. I am taping the series. I am so glad to see you back. I realize a lot of what happens in this show is staged, but you are a talented comedian and this show is one of the best I have seen in a while. None of the other Brady’s could have done as well. Welcome back to fame, girl! You look great and I enjoy the antics on the show!

DE says:
LOVE LOVE LOVE the show. Isn’t Newport a beautiful place! I live in Nashville and my family lives in a very small town in Macon CountyTN , so I am VERY familar with the ‘country life’ Don’t you just love it!? They have baby goats and the whole nine yards.
Am loving the show tonight with Ross!
Tina S. says:
I would say laugh at it or don’t watch it…… Of Course this isn’t what Cocke County is like. The people in East TN are not what they are portrayed as on this show. Anyone with any common sense has to know that this show is semi-scripted. they set up the story lines and the 3 main characters take it from there. Not to mention the (overall wearing) hired actors that play some of the “locals” PLEASE, those people are not from CC. I would recommend that you watch the show and enjoy the stupidity of it or don’t watch it at all. Look at Hee-Haw, that made fun of the south and people loved that show!. I mean it was a variety comedy show and it looks like that is what they made “Outsiders Inn” out to be. If people honestly believe that this show is 100% authentic then that is their mistake. Cocke County has it’s share of issues and red-necks but what place doesn’t. I was raised in Cocke County and I still have alot of family and friends there.
Show producers are taking the “REALITY TV” thing WAY off course. And I would say don’t be so angry at CMT or the actors…..Maureen, Bobby and Carny are just taking what jobs they can to pay the bills. They just do what their managers tell them to. Iliff Jr. knew what was going to happen. Some of the blame falls on him , what does he care…. After his term is up, he isn’t running for office again. In his own words he was cast in the role of playing county mayor by the CMT production crew. It is amazing what a little money and some air time will make people do. Everyone wants their 15 minutes. Although the production of the show brought some significant revenue to the county, I hope it doesn’t do more harm then good. Then again like most “REALITY SHOWS” once it’s off the air people just forget about it.
By the way “Thanks_for_making_us_all_out_to_be_fools!” there is a pool store in Newport…. Carson Wright owns it and it is located in downtown by the Food City. The show just digitally changed the store sign to make it have a different name and look like those two actor morons owned the store. Ahhh what we can do with technology!

Mrs_TN says:
Thanks for a great second show! Understand people were shocked by the first one and that was the intent - capture your attention so you watch again. And, if you did, you saw a great show highlighting two great places in Cocke County - Christopher Place and Fiddler’s Roast. As many have said, if you don’t like the show, stop watching it! The negativity some people are portraying on the crew, cast, actors, and anyone involved in the show is not fair. You all seem to have forgotten that TV is a business and everyone involved in the show made business decisions.
sue says:
love it, love it, love it. everyone looks ridiculous, not “just” the locals. and it’s in fun, and it’s HILARIOUS. More, more more!!!!
Paddi says:
This show is a hoot!! What a great escape.
thanks

marsha i am so glad that after gone country you decided to be around cmt for awhile and have other opportunities to do other things. i hope you decide to stay in the music end of this industry. i know you have great potential to be a singer, and hope you touch peoples hearts with your songwriting abilities. love you vicky
Mike With An Invitation says:
Maureen, Welcome to Tennessee! I live about 20 Minutes from Newport (Cocke County) in a little town called Seymour, located in Sevier County. In fact we will be at Cocke County High School this Friday night 08-29-08 where Seymour will play Cocke County in football. If you all are still in the area please come and watch a great game.
The show is great and we can laugh even at ourselves. I can also say that I do not find the show offensive! As for some complaining about Illegal Activities, all I can say is that the “Tater Water” a.k.a. Corn Liqour, Mountain Dew, Moonshine and etc can be purchased in some liqour stores in the area legally! It’s legal because it is being taxed! If some forgot the reason why some “Tater Water” could be illegal, then they need to re-watch the original “Walking Tall”. People need to realize that this is a show and some things will not be the same as depicted.
Vickie Birch says:
I just wanted to say that I’ve watched the 2nd episode twice!!! And I’m still hooked. I love all 3 of you & hope CMT decides to give us more. Lots of love & hugs!
shorty says:
I would like to say I think it was right up the mayor’s alley to do this to do this to the town, the people elected him where he is gave him more power then his bald head could handle, and he has not only robbed these people of what little money they make he has made a ass out of himself bunches of times,so I say welcome to the mess you put in when everyone else said noway. Now as for the show it
does have alot of crazy stuff in it,and it did make me upset, and still rubs me the wrong way,of course tv really has gone out of control along time ago.People in CC don’t dress and act like that and half of the town wasn’t even shown right.Just like one of your many viewer’s said anyone
encluding the stars, and some people in cocke county will do anything to make a few bucks, and get their 15 minutes of so-called fame.!? It’s like this if it isn’t sex then they have to make fun of someone of something,right.?.I wasn’t born here, but I do live here in a town right outside
here called Parrottsville,it is a ten minute drive to the town of cocke county.People here have been made fun of and mocked for along time because of what some of the people do here, and like every other town big or small they do it there too.I don’t find the show very funny, the ones that do seem to be of small minds, with not much time on their hands, and not much brain to find that making fun of someone
or something is wrong, and that is what is wrong with our nation, and the young.I wish all of the actors agood run of there stupid show,I don’t think it will help their out dated lives, and all the bad stuff that has happened in their lives to make fun of other people’s live, and towns, because actually I think the CMT is making fun of you three so-called actor’s by making you do this type of show in hopes that you will become popular with today generation, but in reality you guys may have once been in some way famous, but it isn’t going to happen,HELLO! You all do need some help, before you go on tv again,I mean look at you all,you guys our out dated in your looks, also
there our two of you that our seriously over weight, and one of you is or was a drunk, who hit people in there lives, come on now don’t get mad at me,I just call it as I see it,you can’t blame me I just do what you people do I just don’t do it for the whole world to see it on tv.thanks, but no thanks for the stupid tv show. You’ll need to wake-up and get a life or a real job, because tv isn’t for you guys,my grandmother could of play acted better then all of you.and to all the people in and around the town of Cocke county you need to seriously get some acting skills, and some help, because your 15 minutes of so-call fame was overrated, and I hope people in this town will spot you out and make you pay for your stupid ways.maybe you could move in with one of the actors,LOL.
Bill M says:
Hi Maureen,
Oddly enough….I was watching “A very Brady Sequel” on TV then I saw a brief part of “Outsiders Inn” just as it went to commercial.
I sat there thinking… wait… wasn’t that Marsha???
Of course it was!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway….. Outsiders Inn is a blast. OMG…. the part where Carney insulted the guy with the puppets and then turns around to find out he is the doctor about to look at her hemroids….. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take Care.

Pam. Hartnett says:
Maureen,
I think this show has real potential. The three of you are an unlikely pair that works! Please don’t let the powers that “be” script the show or they will kill it. I am 47 years old and live in Charlotte, NC.. But I grew up in the mountains of NC near Asheville. The show is show casing the people I know. Hey, we’re funny but not all of us are stupid. We can tell when the storyline is scripted or a set up. The writers need to meet and spend time with the people in the area. They will find funny people to add to the series for laughs. And maybe a few regulars along the way.
Larry says:
Maureen I am 27 and athletic & fit. Are you married??
David says:
Maureen, I just love Outsider’s Inn. I live in Sevier County the neighboring county to Cocke County. I think the three of you have the best chemistry of any “sitcom” team I have seen in a very long time. CMT is running the show very often and no matter how many times I have seen an episode I always watch it again and laugh so hard. Never a dull moment and I can’t wait to see the next episode. Love the Puppet sketch.
Kelsey says:
This show is hilarious.. and all the people that are getting affended by this show are stupid.. i mean you can be mad about it but you don’t have to say rude things about Maureen.. (ok i feel better now) =)
Bill M says:
got to agree with Kelsey.
There is nothing wrong with the way Maureen looks. For 51, she is still very attractive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those who don’t like the show… insult the show… not the people on it.
Melinda says:
Mo, I enjoyed watching all of you try to make the “guests” feel welcome–I have owned a small resort in the Florida Keys for 14 years and it is not easy. For future episodes, perhaps the three of you could “farm”, so to speak, yourselves out to various small Inns through out the country–kind of like a “work release” program. Your fantasy of having a B&B would be short-lived for sure! I can see Bobby now, singing “Wasted Away in Margaritaville” under my little Chickee hut on the Gulf of Mexico while Carnie cooks just caught Florida Lobster tails on the grill for the guests, while you sell bait and help direct the launching of our guests fishing boats at the ramp–Anyway, this way the folks from TN won’t feel like they are the only ones getting picked on if you do a traveling- managing gig. Every town has its unique personality but you all could bring Southern hospitality and charm to all places in the USA.
k says:
What a hoot of a show. I find it compelling to watch. To watch the three of you together is fun, as well as the locals. Again, it is compelling and entertaining. I can not wait for the next episode where Carney visit the local Dr. to treat her ailment. Is that Carney or is it Karma?
Glenda says:
Maureen, as a resident of Cocke County, I want to say how upset I was to watch one episode of Outsiders Inn. This show is an abomination! It is a shame that washed-up wannabe actors are willing to do anything for a few dollars.
K.S. says:
I am also one of the many angry people of cocke county. To me the show is a total joke. I have not seen one thing that has been portrayed in a truthful light. I am not sure what kind of revenue the “Outsider’s Inn” brought to Cocke Couny, but it was not worth it. For far to long the people of Newport and the surrounding area has been made fun of. As most of the other Cocke Countians have said, we are good peaple for the most part. I have been to other places in this country and have yet to find a better place than here. As for Bobby, Mo, and Carny, I do not feel that the way our town has been portrayed is your fault. I truely hope you all enjoyed the time that you spent here and I hope that you got to see the true beauty of our town.

MAUREEN; YOU SEEM LIKE A REAL SWEET GAL BUT HONEY WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? I COULDN’T BELIEVE YOUR SCREAMING ON CELEBRITY FIT CLUB. ONE WOULD THINK YOU WERE ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD. THEN ON GONE COUNTRY YOUR SCREAMING CONTINUED TO THE POINT THAT WE WANTED TO REACH INTO THE TV SCREEN AND SLAP A HAND OVER YOUR MOUTH. NOW THIS SHOW IS SO RIDICULOUS THAT I WON’T CONTINUE TO WATCH IT. ALL OF YOU BOUNCING ON BEDS, SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER AND JUMPING AROUND LIKE FOOLS. DO YOU THINK YOU’RE 6 YEARS OLD AGAIN? WHAT CAN YOU BE THINKING TO BE DOING THESE GOOFY, FRIVOLOUS SHOWS THAT DO NOT PORTRAY YOU IN A GOOD, PROFESSIONAL AND MATURE LIGHT. HAVE YOU WATCH THE EPISODES? DO YOU REALLY LIKE HOW YOU AND CARNEY LOOK. IT REALLY SEEMS LIKE YOU AND CARNEY, AND BOBBY FOR THAT MATTER, ARE SO DESPERATE FOR WORK THAT YOU ARE TAKING ANYTHING THAT COMES ALONG REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE ROLE IS. WHOEVER IS INFLUENCING YOU TO TAKE PART IN THESE SHOWS, WELL YOU NEED TO GET RID OF THEM. THEY ARE NOT DOING YOUR CAREER ANY FAVORS. YOU’RE BETTER THAN THIS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL YOU THE SHOW IS AWFUL, YOUR CHARACTER IS AWFUL AND STOP DOING GOOFY TELEVISION PROGRAMS NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU MAY NEED THE EXPOSURE OR THE INCOME. AND MAUREEN, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP SCREAMING. SO ANNOYING. YOU’RE 50 NOW OR CLOSE TO IT, RIGHT? STOP SCREAMING. SCREAMING IS FOR CHILDREN OUTSIDE ON THE PLAYGROUND. WATCH YOUR SHOW AND SEE WHAT i MEAN. THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU.
Misty says:
The show could be much better! It has no flow to the scenes and cutting locals out for paid actors is ruining it!! Futhermore, the Toothless guy at the counter at Brocks was not paid!! He actually is a customer!!! Brocks was never paid for any services except food made for cast and crew continously while filming in the area! Notice no one did much speaking at Brock’s! Bunch of Yankees would have ruined the context of the show! To hear the folks at Brocks they were proud to be featured as is. However, they were dissapointed by editing and stupidity of paid actors portraying locals!! Brocks is featured Because it is Known from Tenneesee to New Jersey to Florida and beyond!! Ask any local!!! Shame Fort Marxs was closed!!!

When I moved to Greeneville TN the realtor told me that if Cocke Co was a state it would be the 4th largest in drug trafficking in the nation. If things were stolen from our county the ended up in Cocke Co.The good ole boys in Newport’s/Cocke Government have ruined that area. They think they make up the laws as they go. How about the little secret cock fighting enterprise? Thats still going on. Moonshine?? sure, it’s just how well connected you are
If you are worried about this little show making y’all look bad, stupid or ignorant. Don’t worry. You have elected officials that do that for you!
Janet says:
Seems to me that Dee W might ought to look on Main Street in Greeneville at their own satanic cult juveniles whom have nothing better to do than burn down a nothing to do with nothing business while under the influence of ??(probably still sniffing model car glue),Now who’s behind in times?Wasn’t that you I saw at the red light yesterday with that crack pipe in your mouth?!!Or was it that glass house that you live in reflecting in your eyes??Maybe it was your realtor who knows so much about drug dealing in Newport,Wonder why??Think maybe they know the Newport Good Ole Boys a little TOO much?
There’s one thing that Cocke County has and YOU apparently don’t”"PRIDE”,If you ever had any ,did you lose it when you graduated 5th,?? grade? God have mercy on you,or do you not care if YOU and yours look bad, stupid or ignorant??Those Glass houses get broken everyday>If Maureen and the rest really cared for ANYTHING than their money that they made from this frivolous show, they would have called you and you could have let them come to your glass home and no one would have had a problem what so ever!!Look before you leap as Money is not everything to everybody, nor is drugs!or haven’t you realized that yet??
Nikkie says:
I’ve already stated my opinion about this show…if anyone who thinks this show is so funny…so hilarous, such chemistry…blah blah blah, had any type of clue that this was’nt ever intended to be reality tv. This is simply a stupid show and apparently someone thought it would be a good idea to come to my hometown to do it. As far as the ass kissing some of u guys are giving maureen, for the love of all things holy. She has’nt been of any signifigance as far as hollywood, since the Brady Bunch. And Bobby? lol…all he ever did was get high and beat the hell out of whitney…but that’s his perogative I guess. LOL…Yep, I’d swoon at his feet like an idiot too. And lastly, Carney…you grate my nerves to such an extreme, if I met you in person….well, I would’nt want to, because you are’nt anything to me lol….by the way, to bad you have no singing career…oh yeah, Chynna Phillips is the beautiful one who could actually sing…Have a good night. And I’ll say it before any of you do, I’ll say whatever I want, cuz I actually LIVE here, and most of you don’t. I also don’t give a rats ass what any of these “stars” think of me personally. I wonder why none of these people talked to actual locals and treated them like idiots? oh…right. cuz u would get you’re butt kicked.

I have another comment about this stupid show, and the people who seem to be stuck in a time warp with the mainactress.I can say whatever I like because (one) this is a free country, and (two) I can insult someone like your so-called tv star Maureen any darn time I like because she insulted all us down here, have some pride for yourself, and your own towns, because it very well could be someone else coming to your town, and making that fool yourself.Like I was raised if you don’t have pride in youself what do ya got???? Yes,this well so-called show (if that is what you want to call it)has rubbed alot of people wrong,it’s not what the people do in this town or don’t do,it’s the fact that anyone can come into a town and make an ass out of not only the town but the people, because people live therethey have no choice but to endure it.The actors like I said before aren’t actors they our puppet’s who feel they are in need of money and atention to feel like they belong on tv and aren’t a has been, well if this is what they call acting well I think they should go into hiding, because that’s not acting as we know of,but acting like a fool on a string.People need to wake-up and not only is most of our tv going to crap but our country is too.We our laughed at because of what we do to our own people on a daily basis. And this is just one of the many small things that reflect that imagine. We used to have that pride in our Country, and in our small towns. Not anymore.Greed and ignorance has gotten it’s ugly hand on us.We should be ashamed of ourselves for even being a part of this stupid stuff, and for letting it happen to our town. There is alot of stuff that goes on in everytown in America, and everyone has a story to tell, but when uglyness comes our way it affends all of us.So I say ban the show for all of our sakes.
shawnna says:
8/9I AGREE WITH YOU SHORTY. THE ‘ACTING’ IS HORRENDOUS AND YET THE ‘STARS’ SAY IN THEIR BLOGS THAT IT WAS ALL SPONTANEOUS REACTIONS AND DIALOG. HOOEY. VERY FAKE. WHAT IS SURPRISING IS THAT THESE 3 ‘ACTORS’ ARE DOING THIS SHOW. THEY MADE FOOLS OF THEMSELVES ON THEIR OTHER ‘REALITY SHOWS’ LIKE CELEBRITY FIT CLUB AND GONE COUNTRY. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT BOBBY BROWN WOULD HAVE GONE INTO HIDING AFTER THE CAMERAS CAUGHT HIM TIME AFTER TIME PEEING ALL OVER THE BEDROOM IN ‘GONE COUNTRY SEASON 1′. THEY REALLY MUST BE DESPERATE. I WON’T WATCH THIS PROGRAM ANYMORE. YOU CAN SEE STUPID ANYWHERE WITHOUT TUNING IN TO WATCH THESE 3 SORRY ‘WANNA-BE’ STARS.

Thanks for doing this show! I was channel surfing and came across Outsiders Inn - and couldn’t turn away from it! It was so funny! I’m from Washington state and I am another person who grew up with you. You are really funny!
Hey, you really helped my self esteem too, now that I see that I’m not the only one who has gained a couple pounds since I was a teenager. (smile)
Hey, have fun with your friends and enjoy what you do! You are an entertainer and you are certainly entertaining! If we can’t laugh at ourselves, we are taking life too seriously, don’t you think??? Let’s laugh together!!!

Don’t know if I am the minority or majority, but this show is far from entertainment& reality. The stars are not really funny. I’m glad I am not the only one who thinks Maureen M, should stop her major league theatrics. I mean no disrespect to her but if this is what she calls doing improvisation then she truly needs to spend some of her millions she got paid for the book she has coming out in Oct and get some improv training, big time!!

Thanks Hollywood and thank you CMT for portraying cocke county as some redneck hick town. I have lived here my whole life and have never been more disgusted. With all the media hype etc… Each and every little town has there own problems we have already been through the dirt so much we will never see daylight, but was it necessary to take it to this extreme? Why didnt they show Mr. Brown drunk and staggering from the bars downtown? Nothing was spared for the people we are all a bunch of uneducated dumbasses with a mayor who would rather make a buck than keep his dignity. I was excited about the show, thinking wow this could be a excellent opportunity for tourism and maybe bring some good back into the county. While I was amused to say the least I’ve never been more disappointed. Thanks CMT thats just what Newport and Cocke County needed theres nothing like having more dirt in your face…. A goat in the kitchen gimme a break RIDICULOUS. As for Maureen Carnie and Bobby….glad you could rake in the big bucks dragging Cocke County through the mud……Hope it was worth it.
Josh says:
From the things I have heard that went on during filming of this show CMT should have a new reality show call it BOBBYHOOD….. LMAO Someone needs some akrite(act right)……The real name of the place is CHRISTOPHERS PLACE its a bed and breakfast….awesome place very beautiful exquisite views of the smokies.

Diana says:
I’m from Ohio and I love the show. I was disappointed to find out that the locals are actors because I thought it was going to be a “real” reality show. You southerners who are complaining about being stereotypes… lighten up…both my parents, grandparents, and seventeen aunts and uncles were from West Virginia and I can identify with each and every character on the show. They bring back wonderful memories for me. I hope there will be a second season.
linda says:
this has got to be one of the stupidest shows to ever air!!!it makes all of you look ignorant.it needs to be taken off the air.it sure isn’t funny!!!

tommy bennett says:
this truely is newport and surrounded counties. i live in greene and i will have to say. its the same here. people make fun of each other all the time. its no big deal. i dont understand all the crybabies. hell, be glad they chose your town. its bringing people from all over to spend money and have a good time. i rode my bike down today just to look at the places, and had a great time. beautiful views. great weather and a hundred kind waves and handshakes. i will gladly come spend some time and alot of money. for the experence and the fun. single wide trailers and grass growing knee high. old rundown building barns and farms. im not making fun thats just the way it is here. not everyone gives a shit if there lanscaping is to the max. this is a relaxed, easy going area and people dont really get in a hurry. they are always kind and make the best with what they have. this is real america not hollywood. there are good people here too. and nice things. nice houses nice cars. that doesnt make you a better person. id love to hang out with those ole boys and the pool and spa store. newport used to be known as the stolen car capital of tennessee. go there to get a prositute for 20 bucks, and get your ass kicked for staring, all in the same night. times have changed and so have us, have fun with it. enjoy it and be proud your a freaking redneck. newport is cool. its come along way in the last ten years. the grease rack has some of the best steaks around. there plenty of people just like them in every little town. including yours.
F. Keith Haywood says:
It seems that a lot of the ‘locals’ are offended by the way they are portrayed on the series, maybe they need to step back and look at themselves. Mayb, they see themselves or other members of their family in the characters and are trying hide their background from everybody. What’s the old saying ‘a bit dog barks the loudest’! Not every body can be a sophistated ‘city slicker’.
Ann says:
Please oh PLEASE keep dumb, dumber and dumbest off of your show. Asking all those stupid questions during the slide show was not in the least bit funny, I just kept thinking if they are on this show again I am not watching any more. This has been a very entertaining show so far, please get those 3 stupid idiots off of your show for EVER!!!!!!!!
Tami says:
Oh my gosh, this is the funniest dang show. I laughed so hard at you and Carnie in the tub with the lime jello. And about “the Man” and Bobbie not wanting to say it. It was just the most I’ve laughed in ages. Thanks for the great entertainment!!
Melanie says:
THANK YOU!
Scott Dickison says:
Maureen,
I absolutely love this show. You guys are doing a great job with each episode. I’ve watched them all, more than once. It’s one laugh after another, I couldn’t stop watching it the first time I saw it.
I would love to see a second season. And I have great guest for you to have on the show. Actually I’m the agent for TV actor Sonny Shroyer who played Enos on The Dukes of Hazzard. I’ve been working for him since 1992. And Dukes use to be on CMT for some time and he would fit in perfectly on your show. Just a thought.
Again congrats on the show. I wanna see more and more of this program. I hope they let you guys go for a second season. And I would buy it on DVD if they release it. This has to be the best new program I have seen in a very long time. I use to have favorite programs growing up, but most TV shows these days haven’t caught my interest until Outsiders Inn hit the air.
Thanks again

Mo,
I’ve got one word for the show and its cast; HILARIOUS! To all of you who “claim” you are insulted or offended, I have two suggestions for you: GET A LIFE & LIGHTEN UP! Keep up the great work, Maureen!
Janine says:
Your show is my favorite show right now!!! I can”t wait til Fri. to see the next episode! I think you all would be so fun to hang out with! I am in the same age group and can totally relate.Love the humor! Even my daughters tell me I look and act like MO!! Great chemistry!! Why are these shallow people taking this so seriously! It’s all in fun. We all know alot of the characters are just funny, not being made fun of. I for one am not basing my opinion of this county soley on the depiction of the characters. Lighten up people!! This is not a publicity stunt to dishonor, demean, or make fun of anybody or anything! I truly beleive in Mo’s integrity and honesty! Love you guys!

JanRose says:
Hi Maureen, I think most everyone used to watch The Brady Bunch. I sure did. I think “Outsider’s Inn” is funny. People need to realize that it is just a show, and not trying to offend anyone in real life. I am from Escanaba (upper) Michigan. When “Escanaba In Da Moonlight” was filmed here, and it hit the theatres. I was offended by all the feedbacks that I heard about it. I was offended that our town and people weren’t portrayed for who it really was or were. Recently I was watching clips of it on YouTube.com, and it changed the way I had been thinking. Those 3-guys on “Outsider’s Inn” remind me of the 3-guys on the old Bob Newhart show…ha! At any rate, I like it! I am looking forward to Friday nights show. You, Carnie, and Bobby blend well together. Thumbs Up! ~~JanRose
Mike Strong says:
I love your show i hope CMT will keep airing your show.
Deb Mack says:
The Outsider’s Inn is a great show, entertaining and educational. HMM..Outsider’s Inn..bring in people who are truely outside the state of Kentucky.
Do you have handmade quilts on your beds? If not you should to recognize the quilts made by some talented women and men in the area around Cocke county . Go to the quilt show in Paducah, Kentucky, it will open your eyes.
I would like to see the show serve meals with Beef from a state like Nebraska where Beef is produced. If you ever have a chance visit the wipe open spaces of central and western Nebraska. Where cattle out number the people. We have a beautiful pine ridge area in western Nebraska rich with history, endless rolling sandhills in central Nebraska. Folks risk their lives to produce the best beef in the world here . Nebraska is not just about football.
It is wonderful to see you back performing Maureen, keep it up. Your humor serves you well. Nice to see your smiling face.
Sew Peacefully..from a cattle rancher and quilter.
Lynn Montemayor says:
I LOVE YOUR SHOW! I got hooked last season when you were all on “Gone Country” and never missed an episode. I got so excited when I saw that you would again be together on “Outsider’s Inn” and again, have not missed an episode yet. You three are true magic together and I find myself laughing out loud while watching your antics. I’m glad to read that it is as much fun for the 3 of you.
All I can say is “keep on entertaining us, CMT please continue this show, it’s so refreshing to see that celebrities are real people.” and HOW CAN I BE A GUEST AT YOUR B&B”? Maybe I could finally get my husband to go somewhere other than his Mother’s for a vacation and actually enjoy it!!!
cin says:
I grew up watching maureen and listening to carie and bobbie, I really enjoyed watching you guys on gone country, I have to say I absolutley love watching you on outsiders inn.

I just love the show. Keep up the good work
DONNA says says:
Oh my goodness I love love love this show. I dont care if its not reality, I dont care if its written word for word, I love it anyway, I loved these three on Gone Country, and I love them on this, I laugh from beginning to end. Hopefully we get another season, BELIEVE ME I’LL BE WATCHING
Karen says:
I just love the show. I have been stuck in bed for months very sick and this show has given me something to look forward to and I actually smiled and laughed! I have them all on DVR and watch them all the time……..
People, c’mon, they even have a disclaimer that the show is scripted in some instances for pure entertainment, I mean that is obvious, but that is what makes the show so funny…………
I love all the characters and enjoy every minute of it. I grew up with the Brady Bunch and am glad for Maureen’s sake she can be known as someone else other than “Marcia”…it would have to be tiresome to be stuck as Marcia Brady for all these years when obviously you have many more interests in life.
Keep it up all, you have done a great job and I want to thank you for the “entertainment” you provide, I for one don’t live far from this area and know that it is not pure “reality”, but who cares, it is tv and I love it………….
Best of luck,
Karen
Monster A Go-Go says:
I’d love to see the show, but rarely watch TV and so I don’t bother with cable. Will this be available on DVD anytime soon? CHEERS!
Anita says:
Let me just say this about this show: LOVE IT!
I am a single mom of 6 and usually I do not have time for television, but this show, I cannot wait until its on again. I just read that you are only going to have 8 shows. WHAT????????????? Hopefully you will bring us more. And as far as some of the negative comments I read (which I had to quit reading cuz no wonder those bitter people have a bad rep, look at their attitudes) don’t even worry about them. It only really seems to be from the people around there and I really do not know what they are complaining about because if it wasn’t for your show, I would have never known about their area and I like to say it looks beautiful and I might one day like to visit. Those people need to happy you gave them some fame, I for one do not look bad on that community or the citizens so they shouldn’t be so hard on this matter.
SO PLEASE, MAKE MORE SHOWS! With all the stresses I have in my life, you all make me smile and laugh and I appreciate that!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME! Very respectfully, Anita
Sherrie says:
Hi Maureen:
I absolutely LOVE the show. I laughed so hard and couldn’t turn the TV off because the show kept running, one episode after another! On another note, you used to be really close friends with my cousin, Paulette P. (don’t want to post her last name). I’ve lost contact with her, but she told me you were in her wedding to Bruce. She said a lot of very nice things about you. If you are still in contact with her, please tell her I said “Hi”, and that I miss seeing her! Our family, on her dad’s side, is very similar to the people and situations on Outsider’s Inn, so you can imagine the fun I have watching the show! You, Bobby, and Carnie are hilarious!
Cynthia says:
Maureen, I love the show. I look forward to it every week. Everyone of you that are upset, its just a comedy show, It wasn’t mean’t to make fun of anyone. I have a stressfull job and look forward to a laugh. Maureen I loved you on gone country….I hope to see you on more shows…..
Courtney says:
Hey! I love the show you guys are hilarious! Its my dream to one day run a bed and breakfast and I hope it will be as fun as you guys make it seem lol
Cocke County Girl says:
What’s all the fuss about? I was offended at first, but now, I’m ok with the show. It is silly and far fetched humor. Cocke County does have a pool store. It’s called Wrights Pool Company. The showroom shown in “Outsiders Inn” is their actual showroom. All Cocke Countians know that we are not like how we are being portrayed in the show. They are just following the example of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. They make fun of hillbillies all the time. I will keep watching, just out of curiosity.
Taylor says:
Im a big fan i must have been Very Exiting on the show.
you rock,
Taylor
dj suedehead says:
Wow Maureen! I think you’re still hot, and I am 30. I caught the show the other day, and I am serious, you look good on camera.
LipstickGala says:
I love this show, it IS hilarious and if you don’t think so then you must be squeaking when u walk! So loosen up or take an ex-lax! last night was so funny when Carnie had her bout with her hemroids, not that hemroids are so funny but the way she was treating people on that talent show…lol…if you have ever had bad hemroids then you know how she was feeling its hard to be nice to anyone or be interested in anything but your ass!!!! Come On its a GOOD show! you cant enjoy life when you have Butt problems!!…lol and then When Maureen went in the Doctors office with her and it was The man with his hand up the puppets ass, OMG I thought I was going to die from my laughter, I can only imagine what Carnie was feeling!! this should teach her to be nice to everone because ya never know who is gonna be sticking their hand up yours!!!…lmao I hope ur all better now Carnie and I certainly hope the Puppet Man was Gentle LMAO>>>>>>>>>>>I will be watching next week I have to know the OUTCOME no pun entended!!!….lmao…hahahahahahaha
LipstickGala says:
PS. sorry Maureen I for got to tell you how gracefully you are aging but Im still laughing about the episode I watched last night, Carnie is Beautifull too except when she is in a Bad Mood then the ugly comes out…lol
I thought what a great friend to go into that Doctors office with her and bend over with your face right next to hers like you did YOU MUST BE A Great Friend to your friends and I know you are a very caring person God Bless Your Sweet heart!
Abbey McKenna says:
I think this show is funny and that you should do a second season. I think Gone Country is also a good show.
Grim says:
I am a fan of Maureen which is why I bothered with this show and have to say I was quite disgusted. Surprised it’s even still on air. First of all, for the sake of the town, I think it was in bad taste to portray them in such a manner. If you wanted to do that, I would venture it might be a better idea to do what you did throughout the entire show…MAKE ONE UP. Unless it benefits the town by bringing in businesses and what not for jobs, I feel it was a waste of time. I watched the first episode with my son and it was so ridiculous with not the greatest of acting. Maureen was by far the best actress, I’ll give credit where credit is due, but the other two, were pathetic. My teenage son didn’t even want to watch this anymore. I realize this is just my opinion, but I’m not rooting for this show. I didn’t laugh once as it was so forced. It “might” have been humourous if your producers aired it as an “improv” show where three celebrities get together to do unrehearsed improv like “Whose line is it anyway”. Just a thought…
sherry kay says:
HEY GIRL! U R SUCH A BLAST TO WATCH, LOVE THE SHOW WHERE ROSS WAS ON! I SO WANT TO MEET HIM! AND I MUST ASK DO U EVER LOOSE UR VOICE FROM ALL THE SCREAMING U DO? LOL
Stuart says:
I have been a major…and I mean MAJOR, Maureen fan since the mid-seventies. To be truly honest, for most of those years I felt it was truly love. And it was hard to get over. When I saw Maureen’s success on “Celebrity Fit Club”, I thought the old Maureen that I have loved all these years was back. Then I saw “Gone Country” and I realized her success on CFT was not all that permanent. But I was hoping she would do well and a music career would be revitalized. Well, it wasn’t. And to top it off, she was behaving in a manner that was not appealing to me in the least. Well now, she is doing a show, that, in MY opinion, is the most insane, ridiculous, asanine, stupid show EVER!!!! And she is acting embarrasingly dumb!!! She makes Kellie Pickler look like a suma cume laudie graduate!
I’ve said enough!
Debbie B. says:
I’m from South Carolina so of course I love anything southern. Maureen, you, Carnie & Bobby made my summer TV viewing the best. I LOVE your show. PLEASE come back with another season. I have my DVR set so I won’t miss a show. Your show is sooooo funny. I can’t wait to see what might happen every week. Keep up the good work. Maureen, please don’t disappear from TV ever again. If this show is canceled… please find another one. You are a sweet & funny lady & you & the gang are a hoot to watch. I love you all. Laughter is the best medicine & my prescription is now complete.
Karen Kinnicutt says:
Sure Maureen, why do you ask? I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth closed on politics. Because at the end of the day, let me tell you what I ‘m good at: I’m good at writing songs and singing. What I’m not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part. So I’ll just keep my mouth shut on that. I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. Because as soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, ‘I’m voting for this guy!’ — I go, ‘That’s not who I’m voting for!’ … As soon as Oprah Winfrey pops up and goes ‘Ha-la-la-la-la,’ I’m like, ‘I love Barrack Obama. I hate Oprah Winfrey.’ I don’t hate her. I just don’t believe in her, so I don’t want any part of any of that. I think celebrities hurt politicians. I think Maureen should spend more time at the front desk. It seems she is always missing the guest. I love her, but I gotta point out the obvious.
Casey Diaz says:
What’s up with Karen’s comment. Talk about long winded. Woosh!

Missy Lee says:
Beats me Casey couldn’t really follow it lol.. But she knows what she meant.. i hope.. Anyways.. i watch the show religously on Friday nights and its a hoot.. i love when Carnie gets freaked out and starts yellin “oh the love of god ect ect” I cant even remember it all but its a trip..And the rest of the gang there facial expressions r priceless.. I luv the show.. Keep it up n god bless the whole crew and Cocke County
Mike From Seymour, TN says:
Maureen,
You missed a great football game I invited you all too. Seymour beat Cocke County 25-0!!!! Go EAGLES
Joe says:
Hey Guys,
It seems that many of you are upset at the way “us Southerners” .were portrayed on Outsiders Inn. Well, I was one of the extras on the show and I have to defend the cast and crew of the show. We were treated well and no one degraded us or looked down on us. They were all very gracious and let us know up front that no disrespect was meant. We were filming a COMEDY! it’s make-believe. How many of us watched and laughed every week at the Beverly Hillbillies? Maybe we weren’t offended because it wasn’t filmed in our back yard.Is the show going to be funny to everyone? Probably not, but isn’t that why there is an off button on your remote? I don’t mean any disrespect to anyone and everyone has a right to their oppinion but I believe that we should all try to understand that this show was done in fun and we should let people judge us by our actions and the way we live our lives, not to judge us by what they see on a reality comedy show. Thanks for your time, and good luck with the show. I hope you get picked up for a 2nd season too!
Lynda Alberson says:
I have been a fan since the Brady’s you were the best big sis since I was the only child. I love the Inn and hope it is back maybe you could have a handicapped guest that is in a wheelchair would love to see that since I have lived my whole life in a wheelchair.I loved the dresss you make a great belle. Hope to see more of the Inn
Tina says:
You know that everyone in the world cannot be happy or agree about everything. Everyone needs humor in their life and that should begin by being able to laugh at yourself and if so the way you live. Who cares if the show didn’t betray how the people of Cocke County really live or act, you guys know the difference, it’s just a tv show out to make people laugh. I think the show is pretty darn funny, 3 friends not just on tv but outside of work making us laugh.. Thanks guys.
Sarah says:
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!! SOOOOO FUNNY!!!!!
Looking forward to a season 2!!!!!
Bearman says:
Maureen..what a great show you guys have!! It was a joy to see you on “Gone Country”. By the way, you are still a great looking lady! I just happened on “Outsider’s Inn” on CMT one night..I think it was the second episode, and now I never miss it!!
My name is Bearman and along with my partner Ken Hicks we do the morning show on US-101 in Chattanooga. We have been doing the show now for almost 15 years and US-101 has been the number one station in the market for 25 years. We have won 9 CMA Station of the year awards and Ken and I have been nominated for personalities of the year 5 times. We have a large audience and we have been bragging about your show on the air! I tell the audience that it’s my favorite!
What would be the possibility of Ken and I coming and doing the show with you Carnie and Bobby? We’ve both done a lot of t.v. so it wouldn’t be totally new to us.
Maybe it’s asking a lot, but I thought I’d give it a shot.
Love all you guys, especially you Maureen! We’ll be watching and waiting.

For all of you complainers out there…. This show was meant to be funny. It hit the nail on the head. If you don’t like it……. DON’T WATCH IT!!!! We need more shows like this. It was purely for entertainment purposes. They never claimed to be a true “reality” show.I’ve lived in the south all my life & trust me there are people like the ones “portrayed” on the show. I only hope they have a season 2.

Maureen, I really love the show! Of course its not “real”, after watching the first 30 seconds, I am saying to myself “so funny!”. I love you, Bobby, and Carnie together! I so enjoyed your enthusiasm and playfullness on the show, so refreshing!
I do hope there will be a 2nd season, maybe not in the same location, but the three of you again, please!
