George Strait's Photos Tell the Story of a "Troubadour"
The last time we saw a music video for George Strait was in 2006 for "The Seashores of Old Mexico." Videos don't seem to be Strait's "thing" so it's kind of a big deal when we get a new one. For me, "Troubadour" does not disappoint. The old photos give the feeling of looking through Strait's own photo album. And that takes me back to my grandparents' couch and my own family photos. It's an easy, relaxed feeling that comes over me as I listen to stories of people I've never met, but somehow feel like I know because of the photos. It's true that a picture is worth a thousand words and in this case it could be a million.
I think the director Trey Fanjoy and Strait used a unique concept here. If you compare "Troubadour" with some of the other videos out right now, it comes off almost like a PowerPoint slide show. But simple and straightforward are underrated in my opinion. Maybe it's just me, but I think it gives the video a feeling of importance and longevity better than special effects can. Call me boring or a traditionalist or whatever, but videos with some history behind them are always more interesting to me. I really hope we get another George Strait video before 2010.

I agree… the video troubadour takes us to a place George hasn’t taken us before… and its great to see him with somthing new

Call the video boring.
Ho Hum another George Strait song you can’t tell from all the others.
Jackie says:
I have been a fan since the beginning of George Strait’s career. I have all his music and have attended many concerts in many places. I happen to feel every song is different and each has it’s own story. George’s simple style is what sets him apart. The message comes through loud and clear. No fireworks and trapeze acts needed. He has the rare capability to make you feel the deep down emotion many artists don’t. This video tells his story of how he has brought us great music through the years from his young days and lovingly includes his family. It also has another side that can make some of us feel the same way only about our own choices in life. Long live KING GEORGE!!
lena says:
thank you George for this lovely gift.
hotelmotel says:
George has made good music, but the song “Troubadour” is pretty dull. Definitely not one of his better releases.

Agree 100%.. Love the video… So much like what we love him for. Good Standard. Love the way they make the pictures come to life. And George… what can I say. Cary Grant of Country.

To any one who thinks this video is bad you must not have heard the the words he uses to portray his life thus far. This song is truly great and very sad to think about what he has been through and gave up to be were he is to day.
GREAT WORK GEORGE AND THANK YOU.
Sherry says:
Don, you couldn’t be more wrong. George’s songs never sound like all his others — that’s one of the reasons his career has endured for so many years. And they each have a distinctive story. Troubadour the song is fabulous, the video is almost perfect; the director should have had him smile at the end because he’s gorgeous when he smiles, and because it makes him look like he’s sad knowing he’ll still be singing until he drops, which I’m sure is not at all the case.
Rich says:
