Lee Ann Womack Sings of Relationships Reaching the "Last Call"
"I'm sorry. You have the wrong number. Please hang up and try your call again" -- and see if I care.
We've all been there, haven't we? Been someone's "Last Call" of the night? I sure know I have. Plenty of times, in fact, and by the same person. But I suppose I allowed it. I am the one who answered the phone -- even though it was 2:00 in the morning and I had to work the next day. Like Lee Ann Womack assumes, he was in a bar, he was all alone, and he had no one to take him home. And please don't get me wrong. I did not take him home. I'm simply saying that I answered the phone, which is bad enough. But I don't anymore. Yes, it's "always the same ol' song."
But isn't it nice -- when you finally quit answering that "Last Call"? When you finally get tired of hearing the same message? Like my dad once told me, "You can't live your life carrying around suitcases of baggage. They'll eventually weigh you down." Yes, it's quite freeing to hang up on these uncalled for situations. I suppose it never felt so good to be so disconnected.

This video/song is amazing. I really hope country radio grabs hold of this one and plays it a ton. I’m scared it won’t become a radio hit because it’s different, but so, so good!
Lee Ann’s looking better and better! :)
B.W. LaRoy says:
That’s what I’m talkin’ bout. Save your Hank Williams records friends, country music’s gonna rise again.

What a beautiful song. We have all been in those situations and it is the same old recording that they give us for both men and women. Love the blog and the meaning that you derive from the song Whitney. You never cease to amaze me with your thoughts and writings; keep them coming.

I love this song and think it’ll speak to a lot of people. But does anyone else the video loses something being set in New York City instead of Nashville?
cody baum says:

Kate says:
How true. I think sometimes you just have to give yourself a break from that “last call.” I think this is a wonderful song and I’m glad you keep bringing all of these “good ones” back to us with your blog!
Sera says:
I think it being filmed in New York was a great idea.. The city being so huge adds to the “haunted” feel that Lee Ann gives off..
Melanie says:
