Taylor Swift Likes to Multi-Task

Posted: July 28th, 2008 at 1:08 pm  |  By: Chris Parton

Taylor SwiftBy now most people have heard that Taylor Swift had the No. 1 and No. 2 selling albums last week. She’s probably getting used to the milestones, but what makes this even more special is that it happened the same week she received her high school diploma. Now, how many artists can say that? She talks about her crazy week on her MySpace, saying “even though I’ve been home schooled for the past 2 years, it still means a lot to me to have my diploma.”

It’s only been a few years since I graduated high school and it was hard enough for me just to deal with that. This must be a lot for her to process, but then again, she’s not exactly your typical high school graduate. Traveling the world, working with some of the most well known people in music and making your dreams come true have a way of making a person wise beyond their years. No doubt, Taylor has a long career ahead of her with many more proud moments, but I hope she has a special place to remember this one. You only get that “I’m never going back to high school again!” feeling once. Should be one hell of a grad party.

Im so tired of Taylor. Everyone around me says the same thing. She can’t sing. She needs to be where the kids are on Disney. Taylor trys to be 30 when she is in a kids body. Anyone can flip there hair like she does…come on give us a break……

Enough with Taylor Swift already!!! She can’t sing. She is shrill and off key most of the time. I am so sick of her, I have started turning the channel or the station when she comes on. None of us can figure out why she is getting all this promotion, because it sure isn’t because of her talent..??? Does she know someone? Is that the key?

I’m glad to see Taylor doing so well, although her age and nerves really impedes her performances on TV, watching videos of her singing in concert, which are actually stellar, really turned me into a fan of hers. She writes great radio songs and she only seems to be improving. Way to go Taylor!

Personally, I’m excited for Taylor and all of her accomplishments. She’s an amazing artist and person in general. I hope for the best for her and her career. It’s so wonderful to have someone like her in this business.

That’s what happens when anyone “new” comes on the scene! Their pictures are everywhere(ie…CMT). All the news is about them! All the stations play them constantly! Sorta like Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and the list goes on! It makes you sick of seeing them or hearing anything about them! I’ve gotten where I turn the channel when Taylor, like I did with the ones mentioned above, comes on too! I think of Taylor as the Miley Cyrus of Country and I’m sick of Miley too! It’s not about the music anymore, it’s about how their promoted and their instant popularity! Just my opinion!

I am a huge fan of Tailor Swift and I love all of her songs!
She is a great singer, and she gives me courage that some day I will be a country singer.

Wow, surprised to see all the Taylor-bashing. In a sense, it’s true she could be considered the “Miley Cyrus” of country music. But how did she get where she is? A Hint: It’s not because she can’t sing. Her songwriting ability is way beyond her age. Her instant popularity will surely fade with time, but I like Taylor because she is a very genuine and sweet person (It would seem) and I enjoy her songs and most of all her songwriting ability. The real test will be whether her songwriting can move past the high school love stage and into more mature songs, which I think it time it will.

All of you haters really need to just shove your fist in your mouth and walk away. I don’t want to give the normal “you’re stupid, you’re jealous, etc” argument. Instead I’ll just say “Obviously millions of people do love Taylor (perhaps they are less critical, and just appreciate fun music, or perhaps they don’t expect singers to be “perfect” and never be shrill or whatever because… I don’t know… we’re all HUMANS), but regardless, let the people who like her enjoy the news about her and don’t dampen it for other people. You don’t like it? Don’t comment. Go comment on an article about someone you like.

I think it is great that taylor has her high school diploma, because not many people these days has theirs. Plus i think she is a really good singer , i just think the ones who are complaning wishes they where in her shoes, and doin what she does. Personally i wish for one day in her shoes to see what all she does. She is livin her DREAM so let her live it, with she has one cd out or 20 , its her life and she unlike other people is doing something with it! Congrats Taylor!!!!

I own a Taylor Site, too. And personally, I think it’s awesome she’s gotten her diploma. She’s working hard to the max. She’s very talented, too. Her songwriting is amazing, and her voice is very nice. It may not be the best, but it’s very good. And she’s young. And please, don’t compare her to Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus has nothing on her. /= Miley Cyrus is an annoying, obnoxious little girl who can’t sing country at all, although she often tries. But anyways, Congratulations to Taylor. She deserves everything that comes her way, all good hopefully. (:

I agree that it is unkind to bash Taylor. However, I am really tired of people calling her a country singing sensation. She has already begun to cross over to pop and the sooner she gets to be a “Disney type” the sooner the country bashers will stop. Nobody on this site bashes pop stars. We just like country to be represented for what it is, not what promoters tell us what it is. The Taylor followers would have been there no matter what her genre was in the beginning. I SUPPOSE that a lot of people feel like her promoters are the actual carpetbaggers here. I am just reding these for fun and mostly ignoring her. Soon, she will the big star in another genre and her fan club of teenagers will go with her. I feel CERTAIN they will not hang around to hear the real rising country stars.

I believe she is very talented and amazing singer. I myself also run a Taylor fan-site, and I am so happy for all of her success, she really deserves everything that comes her way. To all of the Taylor Swift haters, GET OVER IT!!! You might not like Taylor (for some strange reason but) why do you continue to repeat yourselves, now that I’m tired of. You may not like her music and I probably don’t like the music you listen to, and but guess what Taylor has her fans behind her 2000%. Taylor you’re the best take care.

taylor swift is so overrated i cannot believe
she could not find time to go to her high school
graduation.i guess singing was more important
than wearing her cap and gown on the most important day
    of her senior year.

wow i am surprised to see all these people bashing taylor. she is an amazing singer and songwriter. what ive gathered is that people cant take it when someone younger than them steps into the spotlight. there all so many talented young artists out there, and i constantly see them being bashed. if you just take time to listen, and i mean really listen, to their songs, you would see how amazing they are. instead you see their age, and assume they are horrible. just b/c they are young, and more successful than you will ever be, that doesnt mean you should insult them. just get over yourselves. CONGRATS TAYLOR!!!!

I agree with Patti: Taylor Swift should not be considered country! She does sing well, I bought her first CD and loved it. I’m just sick of her songs all together because I listened to them over a year ago. I’m just tired of her winning all these country awards when she’s clearly more pop.

Hey Taylor Fan: It’s not because she is young and better than me…..there are plenty of people in the world younger and better than me………ITS BECAUSE SHE CANT SING……ONLY IF HER VOICE HAS BEEN ENHANCED BY A RECORDING STUDIO……HAVE YOU REALLY LISTENED TO HER LIVE PERFORMANCES ON THE AWARDS SHOWS?……..Give me a break…..you are not a true artist if you have to have a bunch of “magic” done to make you sound good. I mean really……!!!!

I have nothing against Taylor. She is an ok singer but it’s sad to see how pop sounding songs are taking over country music. Her current song is again #1 on the Country Countdown for this week. Jessica Simpson is on her way up the charts too like many other people that were not country artists. At least Taylor writes her songs and plays guitar. I am reiterating she is a good artist, I just think she sounds pop, and I am not a traditional country music lover but do like new country.
