Urban Inspiration: A Song for Sunday

Posted: July 24th, 2008 at 2:00 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Keith Urban & Nicole KidmanAwww. A Nashville songwriter has written a little tune for Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman and their newborn baby. It's called "Sunday Rose." Um, duh. Aside from the nice little rhyme, "Sunday Rose/Heaven knows," this song is packed from front to back with enough baby clichés to make it sound like a Gerber jingle. Like how she's a blessing, so complete, and has tiny hands and a little voice. It was certainly a nice gesture, but I think maybe we can leave the heartfelt songwriting about this little girl to Sunday's Rose's father.

Although it is thoughtful of the Nashville songwriter, I think Keith would want to and should write his own song for his baby girl. After all, I am sure his love for her and for Nicole would be a huge inspiration for him to write a beautiful melody. Keith is such an awesome songwriter himself and I know it will come straight from the heart for his little girl. Can’t wait to hear any song Keith may write for baby Sunday Rose. God Bless!

This poser just wants the bargain if Keith ever recorded it, which I highly, highly doubt he will. Keiths’ very down-to-earth and so is Nicole Kidman, so I think he knows the inside and outs of this whole package.. And Keith can think of something so much more creative and blissful than this tool. Sorry to rain on some people’s parade, but this guy is a joke.

I also find it a little ‘odd’. Sounds like someone is looking for his 15 minutes. I believe I read somewhere that Keith wanted to wait until the baby arrived before writing any kind of tune. He wanted to see and experience his child for the inspiration. Who knows Keith may write it for her ears only. Whatever he decides, I wish them all the happiness they can find!

    I agree with Faye.

How creepy is that? This guy is trying too hard to be like Keith. The only person who should be writing songs about Sunday Rose is KEITH URBAN, her DADDY! It’s such a weird story..I’m so creeped out by it.

I agree, Sara. It is very creepy. Keith is the sole person with responsibility for that. It’s just wrong for Keith NOT to be a part of the song.

Oh come on people, you know but won’t admit that Keith loves cliche filled songs. Just count all of the cliches in the songs from the Painful cd. Oh, but when Keith writes them you don’t call them cliches, right?

Ugh, it’s not this guy’s place to write a song about someone else’s daughter and use her name. What was he thinking? 15 minutes of fame?

does anyone else think its kind of creepy and weird that SOMEONE ELSE WROTE A SONG INSTEAD OF KEITH?? I THOUGHT he WAS GOING TO WRITE his own DAUGHTER A SONG.

Yep, I agree with most of the comments above. Keith is a very talented singer/songwriter & quite capable of writing his own song for his little girl.

Well I saw the song, and I thought it was beautiful. Maybe y’all should go listen to it and read the story. I totally disagree with the comments above, because this was a tribute song in honor of Sunday Rose, and I think Keith and Nicole will be very thrilled with this.

Hey, I think it’s great that this guy chose to honor & celebrate the joy of someone he obviously respects and admires. There’s plenty of room in the world for another song with a positive message of love and happiness. Ms. Bonaguro, your bio states that you have three children; I would think you’d be flattered if someone took the time to create something personal as a way to “congratulations.” Or would you prefer they just get you something from the baby registry at “Toys R Us?”

Keith should wirte a song to his little girl because he would a happy person if he worte a song to his little girl that would so sweet for her to have her Daddy wirte a song for her.

Alison said, “It was certainly a nice gesture…”

kayefun says: Songwriters get their inspiration from many sources. I suspect there are more than a few songwriters that if they had actually lived all their songs would be dead and gone before long before the words were ever penned. I don’t think it was ‘creepy’ for a songwriter to be inspired by the birth of Sunday Rose.

I don’t try to put his motivation as being self-serving, reserving my judgement. If Mr. Davidson, the writer were in front of the Urban home trying to ‘pitch’ the tune, that would be ‘creepy’.
Truly creepy are the people with cameras parked near the Urban home at all hours of the day and night.

Like Alison said, “It was a nice gesture….”. I’m sure Mr. Urban will be penning more than one tune about his little girl as time progresses.

The real issue is the song ‘cliched’ or not doesn’t meet my standards of what I consider a top tune, it is simply again what Alison said, “….a nice gesture…”

Sounds to me like Catherine likes Kenny!! LOL..seems too that she doesn’t like our Keith too much..but feels it is necessary to voice her negative opinion..well, you know the saying …..everybody has one…

The song is what it is, let’s just leave it at that. And, Catherine, your claws are coming out. I take offense to your referring to Keith’s CD as “Painful.” If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. There are plenty of us who do. And I suppose no one else uses cliches in their songs and their everyday speech, especially not you, right? If you are not a Keith Urban fan, why do you feel compelled to make negative statements about him? If I didn’t like Chesney or whoever, I wouldn’t even bother with posting or commenting in his territory (that’s a subtle hint, in case you didn’t catch it). I find your comments and your attitude “painful.” Have a nice day. Meanwhile, I’m going to listen to some Keith Urban and visit KU.net.

I am not a Kenny or Tim fan. Just making an observation about Keith’s cliche-filled cd. I like some of his earlier songs. You fanatics are so funny, the way you lecture people who don’t drool over your man Keith.

You know…I’ve read a lot of the comments on here, and it seems many folks are quick to criticize, yet probably haven’t heard the song or the story. I need to refer the creator of this blog though, Ms. Bonaguro, who obviously pays attention to country music. I completely agree with J.R. that if my child had a song written about her by anyone, I would be so appreciative and flattered, even if I already was a major entertainer and writer. After having heard the story, I went and checked out Beau’s music, and found it to be fantastic. This story and song are absolutely uplifting and positive, and by virtue of the fact that New Zealand television aired this story, they must have agreed.

Lets get down to the facts. Ok, so a sister in law and a cheesey Hollywood dude asked a lame look alike to write a song for a famous baby. The song sucks and so does the guys voice… and yes… I am in the music buisness. I write/produce. Half ass pansey boy needs to rethink his carear choice.

Jay…what are you smoking? Take it easy on the wacky weed. Music biz? What do “write and produce?” Let’s see your work. Don’t hide behind your keyboard. “Half ass pansy boy” haha…wow…you have nothing better to do than bash, do ya, Jay?

One more thing…rethink you spelling of “career”

I did listen to the song earlier today. Well, actually only half of it as it was, in my opinion, pretty simplistic and boring. It appears to be self serving as why would this songwriter(?) write a song about someone else’s child that he has never even laid eyes on? Any song about Sunday Rose should be written by someone very close to her that has actually interacted with her and could have true feelings or inspirations. She has very talented parents and I’m sure they will come up with something on their own.

This is getting to be old…Keith probably has written a song..and we probably will never hear it..it is too personal for him and Sunday and Nicole..I agree the guy was probably trying to gain 15 minutes..and I think he was also trying to show his admiration to Keith and Nic..Simple as that..

This is prob the most cheesey thing i have ever seen! this guy looks like such a loser…he is obviously trying to look like keith with his hair and the way he dresses, notice how i said TRYING! whats up with his eyes??? there is some kind of creepy lazy eye thing going on, strange!?! anyways i think my 10 year old could have written this same song…it prob would have been better. go get a real job, this is not for you…clearly. by the way i have read other reviews on this song and there were only like 2 positive ones, prob written by his mom and grandmother.

good try “brad”…however i am well aware that your name really isn’t brad at all…beau! its a sad sad thing when the artist tries to defend himself with an alias. maybe you should focus on becoming more computer savy so as to not let people know you are attempting to disguise your true identity! what a joke

I love the Sunday Rose and im very happy for Keith and Nicole.Im sure the beautiful little bundle of joy is going to look like both of the proud parents. And the name Sunday goes to show that her parents know she is a blessing from god .Im sure Keith has written alot of songs for his dahghter and probably sings to her alot when he isnt on the road.

You know..I have listened to the song…it is a great song..and a great tribute to Nic and Keith and Sunday..this guy Beau is getting started…just like Keith had to “get started”..alot of comments on here about his music and his voice being bad…NOT SO!! He sings great..check out some of his other songs… so what if he has hair like Keith Urban’s??? It is great hair!! We all would love hair like that…I think it is a great song..and that Keith and Nic would be flattered that someone wrote a song for them..previously I stated that I thought that maybe he wanted to gain his 15 minutes…well..it is obvious by looking at his YouTube page that the guy is a singer..it takes years to perfect your talent..it took Keith how long?? True fans know how long he has been pounding out the songs..and not getting the credit when credit is clearly due to him…but mark my words…Kenny isn’t the only one who will be filling up stadiums…move over Kenny it is finally Keith’s turn…and all I can say is: IT IS ABOUT DAMN TIME!!
