Randy Travis' "Forever and Ever, Amen" Takes the Cake

Out of all the details and colors and nit-picky particulars, my fiancé and I do have something set in stone, our wedding song. Randy Travis' "Forever and Ever, Amen" will be our first dance as a married couple. Since they say music is the soundtrack of life, I'd like this to be ours.

I don't think love is butterflies and roses. I don't think love is perfect and I surely don't think marriage is always the answer. Growing up, I never imagined my wedding day. I never thought of the dress I may wear or how my hair might look. No, I was too busy doing more important things like wearing a cape to ride my bicycle or unsuccessfully catching birds with my butterfly net. I was too busy being a kid I suppose -- and a strange one at that. But I know I wasn't busy worrying about my future wedding plans.

Well, I suppose my days of chasing birds are over and my days of chasing wedding bells are here. But I have to admit that sometimes I still wish I could wear my bicycle cape and fly away. I miss being a kid when everything was so simple. It's scary to turn a new chapter in life, but at the same time, I can't wait to flip the page either.

What's funny is that I'm still not worried about my dress or my hair. I suppose it's because I know I'm making the right decision. And like the song says, "Honey, I don't care/I ain't in love with your hair/And if it all fell out/I'd love you anyway." And I feel the same way about him too - "Forever and Ever ... Ayyyyyyyyyyymmmmeeeenn."

Ahh, enjoy your wedding and all the experiences and emotions that go with it; and no matter how old you become, always have a spot in your heart and soul for that ‘little kid’. Best wishes always.

It’s a beautiful song - it came out several years after we were married or my wife and I would definitely have considered it for our wedding, as well. Best wishes to you…
