New Music Videos: Rissi Palmer Gets Her Own Private Screening
Only one new video was available for this week’s screening by CMT’s video evaluation team. So, Rissi Palmer’s new video for her song “No Air” received the panel’s full attention. So, let’s get to it.
Artist: Rissi Palmer
Video: “No Air”
Director: Kristin Barlowe
Palmer’s “No Air” video features only her, performing the song as a sort of soliloquy on a stunningly beautiful, deserted Caribbean beach. For a young artist to attempt appearing in a video as the only human creature in it … well … that’s not the easiest of tasks. But Palmer pulls it off and does it very credibly. The song, incidentally, was originally performed in a pop version by Jordin Sparks.
Panelists’ Comments: “Beautiful images!” “Gorgeous video.” “Awesome! I already loved the song.” “I like the balance in it and seeing her personality come out.” “And, she can rock.” “I liked the pop version of that. Is this country? The instrumentation is — it’s beautiful.”
Consensus: Palmer should be a good fit in medium rotation. In other news, Jessica Simpson’s new video for “Come On Over” arrived early at CMT and was posted in Hot Shot rotation. Also, Chuck Wicks‘ “All I Ever Wanted” was moved up from the on-hold bin to medium rotation.
