Around the Web: Garth, Trisha Head to the Beach

Posted: July 8th, 2008 at 5:50 pm  |  By: Link Ray

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are officially the $5 million couple with this Malibu Beach addition to their real estate portfolio.

Bon Jovi’s intentions may have been good. But now we know that the road to their free Central Park concert on Saturday is paved with scalpers who want $1500 for tickets.

Nashville’s Music Row isn’t all country superstars and posh hangouts. Some parts are in dire need of redevelopment, and Reba McEntire’s husband is quick to point that out.

Why would you name your baby after the Sabbath day? Because you’re a good Catholic? Or a bad Scientologist? Regardless of the name, the birth of Keith Urban’s baby girl moved Taylor Swift to tears, all the way from Kona, Hawaii.

Ricky Skaggs is putting a bluegrass spin on his country hits with the new CD, The High Notes.

I gotta say that I am behind Mr. Blackstock 100% on this. I get to Nashville about twice a year and always like to at least drive by the Starstruck building, and I hate it that I have to drive through an area that makes me lock my doors on the way to it. And he’s absolutely right about the image it presents to out-of-town businessmen coming to Music City; they don’t want to go through a ghetto to get to their meetings.

Music Row should be a national historic landmark anyway. Sun Studios in Memphis is. Why not RCA’s Studio B in Nashville where the likes of Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Pat Boone, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, and scores of others recorded? Why not the Ryman Auditorium? Why not the Acuff/Rose publishing headquarters? And how about The Bluebird Cafe? Or Tootsie’s, or Owen Bradley’s quonset hut studios? A case could be made for dozens of other studios and offices within about a 12 block radius in downtown Nashville to be placed a national registrar of historic landmarks for their rightful place in shaping not only the history of country music, but popular culture and, in essence, American culture. These places are a part of yours and my heritage.

Kudos to Mr. Blackstock and everyone on the committee. I hope more people get behind them and join in the efforts to restore and preserve our American musical heritage.

I love the name Sunday Rose. It is a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl.Im sure Keith and Nicole know that Sunday is the lords day and that might be the reason why ththey chose that name because the lord blessed them with a beautifur healthy little girl. And who are you or anyone else to judge them for what they name their daughter.Keith and Nicole i just want congratuate you guys on the birth of your beautiful daughter.Even if all the nights of none or little sleep it is worth it in the end. They grow up so fast and you wonder where all the time went.Im a big fan of both of you guys .I try to go to Keiths concerts when i can afford them and buy all his cds. I also watch all the movies that Nicole films. She is a wonderful and beautiful actress, she makes it look so easy and she looks just as beautiful off the red carpet as she does on it. I mean i wish i looked half as good as she does in regular clothes and little or no make-up on as she does. Iguess when you have been married going on 25years like me it doesnt matter as much .But i would love to me able to have a makeover someday.Keith you are coming to indianapolis Sept.13 but that is another one of your concerts i cant afford to go to.Since my husband came down sick in 2005 we lost everything we had .We live with are son now until he gets his disablity which hopefully will be soon.Im sure you will put on one heck of a concert as you always do .the people who are going for the time will be in for a will fun time. One they wont forget about for along time and im sure they will become hugh fans like i am.
