Tim McGraw's Concert Incident Becomes International News

Posted: June 26th, 2008 at 12:27 pm  |  By: Calvin Gilbert

Tim McGrawTim McGraw wasn't looking for trouble during his Tuesday night (June 24) concert at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Wash., but he wasn't looking for international publicity, either. He got a little of both, though, after seeing a man apparently hit a female audience member. With no hesitation whatsoever, he immediately called for security and began pulling the man onto the stage. Video of the incident has been picked up by numerous Web sites, with stories surfacing throughout the world, including The Money Times in India. You have to wonder how many fans McGraw has in India, but it shows that it's news when a celebrity does something out of the ordinary and, some would suggest, heroic.

As revealing as the video is, I've especially enjoyed the coverage provided by Ernest Jasmin, pop music writer for The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. In a blog, he describes the incident in colorful detail -- noting that the alleged culprit was wearing a "wifebeater" shirt. Jasmin also follows up on the story today, quoting a sheriff's deputy as saying no arrests have been made, adding, "There is no crime, at least no reportable crime."

The speculation is that the guy was just drunk and acting like a jerk. As far as I'm concerned, that's reason enough to be physically removed from the concert. A year or so ago at a Bob Seger concert here in Nashville, I would have been pretty damn happy had Mr. Seger ejected the guy sitting near me who kept chugging beer until he began power hurling and finally passed out.

This wasn't the first time McGraw has taken security matters into his own hands at a concert. You may recall in 2000 when he and Kenny Chesney were arrested after Chesney's unauthorized use of a deputy's horse backstage at the George Strait Country Music Festival in Buffalo, N.Y. McGraw shoved a deputy who was trying to arrest Chesney. Both were later acquitted of all charges. At the time, though, Chesney was on the lower rung of the artists opening Strait's stadium shows. Suddenly, the national mainstream media couldn't wait to talk to Chesney. I think he landed his first Tonight Show appearance as a result of his arrest. It's debatable how much all that publicity had to do with Chesney's current success, but it's clear that his star began rising substantially after the show in Buffalo.

Artists and labels spend a lot of money to get their names and faces prominently featured in the media, but things like this result in the kind of publicity you can't plan and can't buy.

I am certainly happy that Tim would do this for a woman that he didn’t even know. We were at the Vegas show and there was a lot of security there. This would not have happend there. It was a wonderful show, as usual. Carol, California

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm — looks suspicious???????? Seems their would be a LOT more urgency if the “star of the show” is putting himself in harm’s way????

Those “security” guys sure didn’t come running up very quickly to save their “hero” from danger. And why would you be pulled from the crowd, ON STAGE, through backstage, instead of beat within an inch of your life and escorted out the front door like everyone else? Don’t believe everything seen in the media. It’s all a slant for someone to make money.

Is the Tim-camp taking a lesson from the wife’s past publicity??

Dunno - just call me the pessimist.

I think Tim was doing what comes natural for Tim.he was helping a fan, period. he saw something he did not like and did something about it. when he called security,it was not very loud. maybe the guys just did not notice from where they were standing what was going on. in any event I believe it was something that just happened and Tim did his thing. I am a proud Tim fan and even prouder of what he did for the fans.

to protect a lady. From my point of veiw, tim you are a very good man and you take good care of your family and youself. Stay just the way you are and keep up the good work you do with the geat hits and you will go far. from a

I sincerely hope the female fan who was assulted durning Tim’s Washington State concert is okay.Tim did the right thing when security couldn’t act fast enough.I applaud Mr. Mcgraw for doing what he did. That male fan who wore the wifebeater tee shirt should be ashamed of himself for even remotely laying his hands on a lady who he does not even know. Tim should get a medal for getting that guy out of there. WAY TO GO TIM!!! Faith is a very proud wife !!!

    Go Tim!
It shows a lot of character to do something like that. And it shows even more style the way he did it. I especially like the part where he resumes singing, beginning with “I aint looking for trouble.”

This is twice an agressive fan had to be escorted out of Tim’s(Tim and Faith’s Soul2soul Tour2) shows. This is an outrage!!!! Fans think that there aloud to go and assult someone to get close to their favorite artists, or even assult the artists. I happen to think it is a very good idea that security personel should be kept closer to the stage area. This agressiveness by fans has happened twice in a year. I think it is wrong that fans go assulting the other fans, and the artists. The fans need to keep control of themselves and keep their hands to themselves!!!!!!

First of all, Tim doesn’t need a damn drunk to make him more of a star or to get his name out there in the news. He did what I would hope any red blooded American man would do, give help when needed.
Tim, you are to be commended !!! Thank God you were raise right……..people we don’t need to have ignorance at a concert. Come on now , give Tim some credit for being a real good man !!!!!!!!

You go Tim! No wonder Faith loves you so much!

Yayyyyyy!!!!! Good for Tim !!!! I for one, am glad
he had enough sense to act on something that he saw happening, and without getting the assistance he needed right away, he took matters into his own hands, and did something about it, instead of standing by and watching someone possibly be getting hurt by another person !!
And he did this, while trying to sing his song during his concert, without being interrupted, and didn’t skip a beat, after the idiot was escorted off the stage !!!

Bravo to you Tim !!! My hat goes off to you, and you know what, I would have done the same thing, if I had to, because I am so sick of stupid, idiotic people at these concerts who don’t have enough respect or decency for you, (the artist/musician/singer) who is performing for them, and you are trying to put on a show, for everyone there, and it would be nice if you could do that without being interrupted by stupid, dis-respectful fans who can’t seem to maintain control of themselves, and just be able to sit there and enjoy the show !!!!!

Poor Tim seems to keep having to deal with these problems at his concerts, and I bet he is getting tired of it…..I know I would be !!!
Come on fans, have more respect for Tim, and his band, and control yourselves better when you go to see him in concert. Otherwise, he may decide to stop touring, and having concerts for people to enjoy, because of the “Bad Apples” out there who always have to ruin it for the rest of us !!!!

Tim puts on a great show and it just to show you how great he is that he continue on with the show. Tim has a great wife and a great family. I think the man was just jealous of Tim’s show and wanted to ruin it. HAIL TO TIM

Tim McGraw we are so proud of you. It just shows what kind of a person you are. You truly are amazing. Someone said this was a publicity trick, really Tim McGraw would not go there because of the person he is and as a fan said, he is so famous and so popular wherever he is, he does not need to create advertising for himself in that manner. What is sad is that the person who was attacking the woman should be put in jail.
Keep up the good work Tim. We love you and Faith and look forward to buying your perfume when it hits the stores. We look forward to hearing your music for a long time to come.
Tim is a real gentleman and an incredible performer. Your fans are always here for you.

Tim! You are the new sheriff in town. Hey Can you run for office? I’d vote for you!

I heard from the woman that got punched that this drunk guy just came pushing his way down to the front, knocking out of the way all who was in front of him. Then this woman’s sister wouldn’t move and his way of pushing her out was to pull her by the hair. That’s when this lady yelled for security and tried to help her sister, which got her punched by this guy. Being at a concert, it was probably hard for security to get to this incident fast enough with all the fans crowded up front. But, “Lone Ranger theme inserted here”, Tim saw it all and did what any good-hearted American would do. God Bless you Tim!!

I say more power to you, Mr. McGraw!!! There has been a rampant decline in concert-going etiquette over the years and it has made the whole experience a huge turn-off for people that want to come and listen to the music. It doesn’t matter what size the venue is; the idiots are everywhere. I paid big money 10 years ago to see Eric Clapton, only to have a very drunk guy sitting behind who talked (very loudly) right from the first song. My friend turned around, told him to be quiet and he was the one who was miffed! I would think the artists get sick of this obnoxious behavior when they see it. It’s fine to celebrate, but at the expense of everyone around you? Do us all a favor and sit home, guzzle your brew-skis and listen to the music on your CD player. Motto: Beware of large groups of stupid people.

How embarassing… I hope Tim knows that we (here in the south sound) aren’t all like that…

I am glad he did what he did. It’s too bad that grown adults can’t regulate themselves! Just because Tim is a star doesn’t mean he is ok with watching assault or wants to be groped. Geez, people need to start behaving themselves! Tim seems like a real decent person and Faith seems like a good, decent wife… Too bad people don’t realize that these stars are people too!

Any fella wearing a “wifebeater” t-shirt has to be looney from the git-go.
But the serious reason for my comment is, and this will cause moans and groans, but, for the protection of our performers as well as the audience members, if it is not already common practice, all entrants into any performance should have to go through a metal detector. Guys like this one would be a risk of coming to another concert, packin’, and shoot Tim McGraw, or any one of the other parties involved, likely thinking he could get away with it.

I’ve noticed a couple of negative comments posted here. You’re entitled to your opinion and call it suspicious, a publicity stunt if you so wish. The thing is, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are about as down to earth as anyone could get, and quite honestly, they arent struggling. Tim McGraw did what came natural to a man of his upbringing and morals and that was to protect someone who could not protect themself. If anyone knows anything about various concert arenas, they would realize that in a packed house, there is just no room. Tim and Faith, way to go in standing up for us who just can’t always stand our own. If I could shake your hands, I would. Oh, and…LOVE the music, keep it up.

Now it is their choice to walk and live out what they where taught from a culture that desires to respect each other. Tim and Faith truely show where their roots orginated.

I agree with most here. I think Tim was doing what He felt is Right. Protecting someone who was unable to protect herself from some in humane sad excuse of a person.
I Commend Tim for standing up for what waas right. This also shows how Tim is always aware of what is going on around him even if he is busy on stage making awesome music. Tim wasn’t backing down, this fool that caused the ruckous was just plain in sane.Drunk or whatever his excuse, He got what he deserved. As a woman, I Thanyou Tim for all of us! That could have been any one of us. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou, Lots of Love to YOU TIM!!

Add to this, the fact he grabbed one woman’s hair and hit another woman, I highly recommend the authorities look into spousal abuse in his house, if he has a wife. Maybe she was already smart enough to dump his sorry butt.

It seems they are interviewing everyone that was not even close to him. Tim probably thought he was drunk, but he was pushed. Even Tim only looked at Marcus when he was pushed onto the empty chairs right behind me, the chairs made a lof noise. If he bumped into anybody it was me. He did not hit anyone. This I just think they are blowing this way out of porportion. I think Marcus should have his name cleared. The whole incident took only about 20-30 seconds. I am a friend of his family and have been speaking with Marcus. It seems nobody would like the truth. I even have 2 really good pictures, I know that no one else has pictures like because I was right next to him!

Humm…thank you for the video, this is the first time seeing this and thank God for video phones. I’ve been to a few concerts as well and the drunks were the highlight of the show for me. Yeah, there were a few fights but the security at most of the shows took care of that. There’s several different types of drunks: happy, sad, fighting, cussing, crying, throwing up, falling down, passed out, being carried out by security (this one happened at a concert in 1997 in Tampa, Florida)…this list could go on and on. I don’t believe anybody should beat on somebody much less push or shove them either. But if it was just an accidental thing then o.k., but if not well.. I had this happen to me at a Marty Stuart concert in 1993. I gal ran up to the stage and shoved me hard enough to knock me underneath the stage. So I did what any other person might do I took my elbow and tried to remove her head from her shoulders. Hit her right in the jaw! What made me mad was she said, ” I didn’t mean to do that. ” THEN SMILED LIKE SHE LOVED IT!! If she hadn’t smiled I would have just said it was an accident, but NO! Again, if he was wrong then…well…I don’t go to any of his concerts so I really couldn’t say yes or no but a maybe. I try not to take sides until I’ve heard from the other person on a subject like this.

Well,I saw the video and I think Mr. Tim Mcgraw owes this man an apology. Tim acted on assumption only not actual fact. If i was dragged up on stage, shoved, threatened with a fist, and then dragged off stage in a head lock and not no why someone’s ass would be sued!!!! Tim you should be ashamed of yourself for the way you treated this fan. He was only trying to get to his seat which he paid $120 for and was shoved in the process. He should be refunded his ticket money since no charges were filed and receive a personal apology from you. I’m very disappointed in you and will no longer purchase anymore of you music.

I think too many people take the fact that they serve alchol at concerts to the extremes. I believe that some way there should be a set limit to how many drinks you can have when you are in a crowded place like that people and people already get a little rowdy when they are having fun. As far as Tim goes…I would have done the same thing if I had been there he did what came natural to him as a human being and a husband and a father!! We love you Tim!!! Get the obnoxious idiots out so real fans can enjoy the show. Everytime someone is held accountable the bloodsuckers suggest some lawsuit to try for some easy money. Anybody who has ever been close to the front of a stage knows it gets tight. I highly doubt that the guy would assault a woman at a concert with security and other fans around him. I have big Tim fan and have attended three McGraw concerts, just one a month ago and I am starting tp believe that McGraw is not appreciative of his fans. I have become very disappointed in his performances. A person who paid $120 to see the concert is obviously a huge fan. Even if Tim saw this happen, he should have let security handle it. Now whether or not this guy did anything, he will be known as a woman abuser and I am sure humiliated. What a shame for Tim as country idol and celebrity to raise his fist to a fan.

I’m a proud Tim McGraw fan, and I know a few people that would say its all a publicity stunt. If that’s so, then why did it take such an effort to get the man on stage? You ccan plainly see Tim was strugling to hoist the man on to the stage. And for thoes who are asking why not take him out the front instead of backstage, IT WAS THE FRONT ROW! I live roughly 1 hour drive away from Auburn, and the KMPS radio station I was listening to put one of the assulted women that was on the phone with the station on air and that didnt sound like he was doing it to “help” Mr. McGraw with publicity. I am not saying this because I am a Tim fan, I am saying this because from past troubles at concerts or other shows, he has only stepped in when no help was around. I think what Tim did was great, and I hope the two assulted women are alright. My questions are, why is Tim being badgered for helping a fan, why was security so far away from Tim, why is the assailant being publisized about it, and why aren’t the people around the attack being asked about what had happened? Tim McGraw, you are a good person, and a great country music singer/song writer! :D

You know what? If there were more men out there like Tim McGraw, this world would be a better place and there would be less violence toward women! I have been to two of Tim’s concerts, up close, and have been next to drunk people, rude people, and obnoxious people. If you pay that much money for a ticket to a really great concert, why would you want to get drunk, obnoxious, etc and miss the entire thing? Stupidity reigns. Chivalry becomes Tim, what a gentleman!

No one watching the tiny vedio can really tell what was happening before Tim bends down. Seems to be asking something of a fan. He’s smart enough NOT to go for bad publicity or take chances. The women will probably come forward in time. The news said the guy pulled on stage lost his hat, but the vedio clearly shows he has his hat as he leaves the stage and waves the hat. Hello!! He loved it all. Even he said so. He got his “fifteen minuets of fame”. What he remembers is after he got sober ?????? Too much of the crazy stuff anymore by ‘fans’. Tim and Faith are a class act, and set a good family example. And they can both Sing! Not yell and call it singing. Also notice all the nay sayers but one ? are men. Do you smell jealousy.

After reading all the posts, watching the videos, I don’t think it was a publicity stunt however I do think that it is possible that the guy was just trying to get to his seat and that it was all a misunderstanding. The way a person can be pushed around in a rowdy crowd can be unbelieveable.
The thing that puzzles me is why did Tim need to pull this big guy up on stage. My thought is you hire people to take care of security for you, so just step back and let them do their job. And why did Tim make a fist at the guy. One bad deed doesn’t deserve another. Just back away from the guy so he doesn’t hit you if that was going to be the case.
Tim and Faith are thought of as gracious down to earth people but……….raising a fist or having a potty mouth on stage is not really setting a good example.
But we all make mistakes. I still like Tim and Faith. But sometimes I just wonder what the real truth is. The other thing I wonder about is why are people allowed to take recordings of their live shows. Those people should be brought up on charges. The concerts I go to say no recording is to be done.

I could care less about what Tim McGraw did. Sounds like he is doing this to make his self look good and the public is buying it. Lincoln was correct when he said that “you can fool all of the people some of he time and some of the people all the time, but never all of the people all of the time”.

I think that Tim did the right thing. He saw a guy messing with someone, a woman to be specific, and he did what needed to be done. I bet if he hadn’t done it, another guy in the crowd would have ended up hitting him right off the back. So it was better for Tim to have pulled the guy on stage and throw him out, because if he didn’t, there could have been a fight.

There is no reason this person had to do this at a concert, people are there to have a good time and it is ashame that people go to these concert and get drunk or smoke (pot) or whatever they are doing and ruin it for everyone else. Tim also just went back to that mic and finished signing Indian OutLaw that was awsome.

Tim does not need “more” publicity his career is SMOKING HOT. All the BOYS that have nothing but negative stuff to say makes you wonder is this something that they would do to their woman or any woman that gets in their way. I think if the story was not true then that JERK would be pressing for a lawsuit or a public apology but no he has even said he will be attending the concert in Seattle and that he is still a fan. I have always been a fan and this makes me more proud to be a TIM MCGRAW FAN!! Keep up making the great musioc that we LOVE Tim.

I was at this concert. While I was way in the back and didn’t see everything up close, I did see some things this guy didn’t mention. After Tim pulled him up on stage and the security guys got ahold of him, this guy lunged at Tim like he was ready to fight. They he was dragged off stage. When me and my husband were leaving the concert, we saw him standing outside the gate and it was VERY apparent that he had pissed all over himself!!!!! It was disgusting. He WAS drunk because I heard him asking one of the security guards “Did he pull me up on stage or did I climb up there?” He couldn’t even remember what happened!!! So when he says he didn’t assault a woman, I don’t believe it for a minute.

An addition to my previous response, security did take a very long time to respond. He yelled for security to get this guy out of here and they didn’t come so then he grabs the guy by the shirt and it looked like he was yelling at him. Security still didn’t come so some of the camera guys on stage and maybe a member of the band dropped their stuff and grab this guy and haul him up on stage. THEN security steps up and drags him off stage.

I believe that this is a true and unfortunite event. I comment Tim for what he did. I for one have been in the front row at one of Tim’s concerts, and because of fans rushing the stage, my wife whom has sholder problems was knocked to the ground. We were both pushed out of the way by fans who’s seats were 9 rows back. Still, these people were not escorted away from the stage by security. I think Tim has to insist on better security at his concerts, and maybe there should be sobriety checks done at the doors. If intoxicated you are turned away with a refund. Tim did what any true man would have done. I have been to many of your concerts and will attend as many more as I possibly can. PS I am a man writing this.

I have been a Tim Fan since I saw him at June Jam in 1996 before he hit stardom. He was the same gentleman then that he is today.

There are always two sides to every story…
For the time that Tim spent kneeling down dealing with this situation, it appears that something more triggered him. Tim is not the type of guy to just pull people on stage and jeopardize his reputation for nothing. He obvisouly acted based off of whatever was going on down there. If the guy was just trying to get back to his chair…did he then push/assualt the women which is then what Tim saw? Not sure. It will all come out sooner or later. If this guy is so innocent, you sure as heck don’t see him out there defending himself.

For you folks making comments of this being a “Stunt” or that he needs publicity, well you sure as hell are not from the country and have no idea what/how we country folks deal with things. We take care of each other. First and foremost if a man puts his hands on a woman. That is just a NO-NO. Try it in the south and see what you get.

God bless you Tim & Faith as well as your “mommas” who raised you right.

I would love to see him in concert and if something like that would happen again, I would think that Tim would act the same way. He has a lot of respect for women, it shows since he came to the woman’s rescue, and he is so sexy, he doesn’t flaunt it. Faith is the same way from what I can tell, I have read articles on both of them and they are very family oriented and they love each other very much.

Wow, there is a little bit of hostility here defending TM. Get it straight, I like TM, but this is a very suspicious incident. This guy talked to six LEO’s, but no charges were filed? Six? Who can confirm that? If the police took action, it would be backed up with reporting of some sort. If no police action was taken and the guy was ejected (and that is what is being said happened), the venue would have some sort of record about that. I work concerts all the time - and I’m a police officer - and I know for a fact that facilities record such ejec tions to cover themselves for potential liability. I have also worked concerts of Tim McGraw. Anybody who doubts that and has the ability check with his manager and see if back in May a group of four guys got caught trying to steal equipment from backstage after the concert ended.

Not one bit of the video even identifies a potential female victim. How much video was edited? He grabbed ANOTHER guy at first and then switched to this guy wearing a cowboy hat? Seems like if he saw the guy do sometihng he would not confuse him with someone who wasn’t wearing a cowboy hat. A “big” guy? Would you expect them to pick a little one if this was pre-planned? Sorry, but national coverage has not been TM’s strong suit for quite some time. This immediately changed that. Don’t think he didn’t learn how to manipulate the PR machine with Kenny Chesney back a number of years ago.

I like him, his music, and his perceived family/moral values, but this incident is lacking in merit to me. Remember folks, he also likes to dabble with acting.

I think its real funny how all these women are taking up for Tim, especially after I heard the real victims story. That poor guy! Just trying to get to a seat that he paid for, perhaps Tim reacted prematurely and should have just advised security of a problem and not have been so unprofessinal jerking the guy around and threating to hit him with a closed fist. Looks like to me Tim was looking for a fight or just attention, like he needs more of that! Anyway I think Tim owes this guy big, I believe his story cause Ive had seats down front and had to deal with the same sitiation more than once, everybody in the whole place wants to be down front and some of them make it there and make it unpleasurable for the folks that paid to sit there. So give this fan a break, he just wanted what he paid for!

I have read the remarks here and watched the video. Mr. McGraw did the responsible thing. This guy was drunk and did not need to be there, regardless of how much he paid for the ticket. If he was interested in watching the concert, he would not have drank so much. There is no excuse for his actions. Right is right when everyone thinks it is wrong and wrong is wrong when everyone thinks it is right. As for this being a publicity stunt…I don’t believe it. It is possible but not probable. As for not being able to buy a #1 hit……looks to me like Mr. Mcgraw has many things going his way in life…….money, great wife, great kids, own studio lable, film career, and let us not forget his great looks and his fan base is phenominal. So, I think we all need to look at our own lives and let them do what they do best……….entertain us.

And for a personal note……..it is never ok to hit anyone, regardless of gender, but especially a woman. I don’t care how much he paid for that seat…being violent is not the way to handle it. This guy showed his aggressiveness when he drew back to hit Mr. McGraw. I don’t want what happened to be glamorized because it was Mr. McGraw, it was the right thing to do. The guy was drunk and he was violent. Let us all not for get these two important facts.
The sad thing is all this, in my opinion, this guy will probably be on some morning talk show. To much attention is being given to a drunken episode.

Yes, concerts get tight, and those who go should expect drinking and pushing. Just because you buy a ticket doesnt mean it will be easy to get to your seat. I think in the end, this will have been a huge missunderstanding. And if Tim is the man i think he is, he will make it right with the fan if what the fan says is true. we must look at all sides of this. Tim must have had reason to believe this woman was in some sort of trouble, because, hey duh to all you “stunt” folks: the man does NOT need publicity. And lets hear from the woman. I think what Eric wrote is the best comment on this page… But the fact of the matter is: Why did Tim get involved with something that had nothing to do with him, and physically assault a person for no reason…. I agree that Tim may have seen something and wanted to react before it got out of control, but that is what police officers are for, and we don’t even know that there was a woman involved at all… Tim was not being threatened by no means by this person and was not assaulted by this person. In most states you have committed the of assault, unless you can prove it was self defense. I guarantee Tim McGraw would not be able to prove that, after seeing the video… The assaulted man said in his statement: I thought Tim was pulling me on stage “TO DANCE AND HAVE A GOOD TIME”… From what I have seen from the videos, it appears to me that if any crime was committed, it was from Tim McGraw himself… Why? When you look at the video, take a good look at Tim grabbing this man by his shirt and pulling him backwards(crime#1). Then Tim pulls him on stage and then pushes him across the stage (crime #2). Then security grabs the man and holds him back, and then Tim walks over to the man, when there was no threat to Tim and he gets involved with this altercation again, when he should have left it alone, and let security escort him out, but Tim didn’t do that… We don’t know what really happened, as Eric said… So why is every one speculating on this incident…

It is clearly obvious that this guy did nothing wrong, it sounds like to me that Tim is just acting out, i always got that impression of him, that is why i never cared for him, he has this arrogance about him . This is not the first time that something like this happened — Trying to impress his Female fans — How can he clearly see what is going on in the audience if he is doing his job and performing — Security should have handled the situation, if indeed there was a problem

I was behind two off duty cops at a Keith Urban Concert and they were so drunk and obnoxious and smoking cigarettes and kissing ladies who didn’t ask for it. Security finally escorted them out. They didn’t hit anyone, but their obnoxious behavior was ruining the concert for everyone around them. I’m sure everyone around that stumbling, drunk dude regretted paying $120. to get distracted by the idiot. I think Tim did the right thing. And I agree, Tim doesn’t need a publicity stunt. He’s a big enough star. Sometimes distractions are just as annoying as fighting or shoving. That guy did get his fifteen minutes of fame. And why do guys have to be so negative? Are they also bullies or are they just jealous that Tim has Faith and a whole lot more.

and as for the tim situation, after reading everyones posts and the articles and watching the video, there are many stories so i think its dumb of people to stop buying tim’s music just because of this.. when no one even really knows the truth!

and why would tim do it as a publicity stunt?! NO celeb wants to be in the spotlight with nasty rumors being made up all the time.. he’s already got millions of fans so why would he feel the need to get his name out or whatever?!

It’s funny how Tim fans think he is so perfect. He and his wife lead the public into believing that they are happily married. Not only is that an act but so is the incident with the concert man. How long are you people going to put up the these two? They are the only country “ACT” that has these incidents? No one else does this but these two. Are you people dumb? Do you live in a coal mine and get out once a year. Please, Stop this madness. Tim and Faith are not what you think they are. They are far, far from it. You are just putting money into their pockets so they can treat fans any way they want too. What a sorry bunch of human beings.

You people serve negative stereotypes well. No arrests after an “assult” might be your first clue. The second clue might be how quiet everyone is on the details. The third is that there is no apology for roughing up a fan. Let me spell this out for you. Its a fake. At all current sports venues, employees are instructed to detain for arrest unruly fans. Well, I know what group of gullible people Im going to target from my next get rich quick scam. In the mean time since your going to be angry with me on exposing your ignorance, do a search on youtube about Queens of the Stone Age. The are a currently touring act that orchestrates ” an incident” during their concerts. My how the sheep cheer their manly hero.

  • Deb says:

    Posted: June 28th, 2008 at 11:45 pm

For the most part, most of the negative feedback is from those who were not at the concert but have viewed the video. Problem with the video is that is truly does not show the amount of time that Tim really took a good look at what was going on. He didn’t just glance and assume. He also kneeled down to give that fan a warning which really didn’t do any good. That’s when he took action and proceeded to grab him to bring him on stage to throw him out. I also heard the ‘live’ interview on the radio station that had both Marcus and the woman he assaulted on to discuss it. After seeing and hearing it all I agree that Tim did the right thing..

Upthread there is a woman who was right next to it, and she described exactly what happened. This McGraw character evidently went ballistic without understanding what was going on. Those crowds up close to the stage are chaotic confusing, and everyone gets pushed around. Apparently, this guy actually didn’t do anything, but when he was pushed against the chairs, he lost his balance, and when he started grabbing for stability, McGraw interpreted it as aggression. That set McGraw off (and from his history, he is obviously quick to raise fist). If the guy had done what everyone here seems to be willing to believe (without any evidence), then why was he so willing to get up on stage, and why was he so confused about what was happening? It seems if he was bullying around and the star came down on him, he would have run the other way! If I was this guy, I would sue. In fact, he probably has good grounds for a suit, given the bad publicity and the unequal power of the star. He was publicly humiliated in front of thousands of people by a person who the crowd worships unconditionally. I think McGraw should have to buy him a house.

I think most Mcgraw fans are out of control at these concerts. If someone tries to get up close to the stage just to see him, “everyone” starts to push that person out of their way. Tim fans are grossly angry all the time. It is sad that this poor guy is being blamed for the ruckus. It happens. Then the non hero, who wants to be the hero,Tim, always reads things the wrong way. To me, he’s trying to sell himself as a Great Guy. I’m not buying it. There have been too many aggressive incidents by Tim all through his so called career. Tim is grossly overrated as a Talent. He is responsible for his own “idiot actions. Everyone can take up for Tim and I see it as a hillbilly moment. Tim fans are the brightest people in the world. There are so many people taking up for Tim who weren’t even close to the action.

You are on a stage surrounded by thousands of people with lights in your face and you’re telling me that he could clearly see what was going on? I DON’T THINK SO! I’m torn in this situation and would like to speak completely un-biased… but I am a Tim McGraw fan. Please consider this though. The other guy has his side of the story. We, the public, will never know… only Tim, and the fans up front. If the guy in the crowd was hassling a stranger… by God… throw his butt to the curb. I’ve been in that situation too many times myself. But if he WAS just trying to get to his $120 seat, I would consider a lawsuit. Against Tim, his management, the venue, and the security company - especially since there has been this much publicity. $120 for a seat to watch Tim sing for 2 hours? I’ve loved Tim’s music since “Welcome to the Club”, but I have to put gas in my car. I can’t afford to help pay someone else’s mortgage in Brentwood, TN.

As far as I’m concerned anyone who’s made a bad comment about Tim regarding defending the lady are all scum of the Earth (Godless) cowards with their noses sticking straight up in the air. You would never see them defending anyone except themselves. That’s the problem with this world and why there are woman beaters out there-because of the scummy people who can only think of Paris Hilton and themselves. The incident at Tim’s concert shows he was raised right, AND THANK GOD THERE ARE STILL SOME DECENT MEN OUT THERE!!! Who the hell cares what Tim’s motive was, at least he did the manly thing. I’m confident anyone who thinks Tim did a bad thing will either end up with a man who will beat them, or a lady very close to them will be a victim, and they will severely eat their words. I also saw McGraw stop a concert in Holdrege, Nebraska a few years back so that a rowdy guy up front could be escorted from the stadium area.

He simply started waiving his hands and said “wait, hold up” and the band stopped. Tim pointed him out saying he was causing a commotion and needed to leave. Security was close by and escorted him out. The concert went on as planned, with only a short delay.

I think if that kind of action would happen more often, you’d see less action from jerks who NEED to be kicked out.
