Mindy McCready Wants a Kiss at CMA Music Festival
Well, I guess I'm an "a-hole," if you go by Mindy McCready's particular definition. At the CMA Music Festival on Thursday afternoon (June 5) -- usually a family-friendly event -- she introduced "Guys Do It All the Time" by declaring to the crowd, "I so hate men that think they're in charge, because you guys are so not! So for all you guys out there who don't like this song, that means you're an 'a-hole'!" (Uh oh.)
I don't know why she suddenly decided not to say "ass," since she had already said it a few times earlier in the day. For example, the first time she introduced "Guys Do It All the Time" (which wasn't the second song in the set list after all -- oops!), she announced, "If anybody is a man that does not like this song, you can kiss my ass right here!" After realizing it wasn't actually time to sing that 12-year-old No. 1 hit, she shrugged it off and introduced another song by saying, "I guess you can kiss my ass about this one, too." A nice return to the stage after five years, huh?
McCready's new songs aren't too bad, and she's even giving away "I'm Still Here" on her Web site. You might say she's full of inspiration these days. I like this quote: "Here's a song I wrote after I got out of jail." It was called "I Want a Man." Oh, and this nugget of wisdom: "Have a happy time and enjoy lots of beer!" Or maybe this crowd-pleaser: "How many people with a felony?!" She joked that it's her new fan club slogan, and hey, if you have a felony, you can go backstage. Well, I don't have a felony, so I guess I'll just kiss her ass from the grass.

Linda says:
When will this stupid twit realize her 15 minutes were up about ten years ago and now she’s just a joke? She had a career handed to her on a silver platter when she was 19 and all she had to do was play the game and not mess up but she wasn’t even capable of that. Give up Mindy - take that barmaid job if you can stay sober long enough. Your old fans are disgusted with you and the new country fans are into Carrie and Taylor. You’re old news.
Sarah B. says:
Mindy who?
Annie says:
Funny - I was remembering back to her breakout hit “Ten Thousand Angels” just this morning, and thinking that it was such a beautiful song, and what could have possibly happened to her that caused such a fall from grace? I suppose that even angels fall…
It’s sad, actually. I hope that she can find peace and health.

I give a big vote to whoever invited Mindy to perform at the CMA Music Festival get their “Kiss My ….” FIRED - yesterday. Mindy - be gone, gone, gone. Nobody cares about you anymore.
JR says:
Excuse me? Is this what people in country music do? Mindy McCready is legendary and has been through a hell of a lot!! She has every right to say kiss my ass to men that don’t have love for the meaning of that song! You can’t blame her with all her troubles before!!!! Give her some slack!!!!!!
Her new single “I’m Still Here” is amazing!!
Maryann Anderson says:
Big Fat Mindy is ALL ASS and that is the only thing I
remember about this looser. She just can’t cut life
and she cannot accept that she is a permanent looser.
hotelmotel says:
Mindy’s on-stage banter appears pretty idiotic, but I’m not sure its much more idiotic (if any more) than the typical banter from performers in between songs.
I’m not a Mindy fan by any means, but I hope she can get her life together, and maybe even have a decent career. Her track record gives little reason for hope, but maybe things can go better for her.
Robert Altman says:
PLEASE TAKE IT EASY CMT FANS OR ANY COUNTRY FANS , THIS GIRL MADE MISTAKES , SO WHY NOT GIVE HER A CHANCE BACK IN MUSIC . SHE WAS A GREAT TALENT AN JUST MAYBE SHE WILL BE AGAIN ?? I WILL SUPPORT HER CAREER ,IF I LIKE HER NEW MUSIC ABOUT YOU ?
CJ says:
I did not know who she was either. She sure is not a good role model for our kids. The are so many good young singers that do not act like that. Lets support them.
Guy Who Couldn’t Care Less says:
So if I don’t like her anti-man anthem I’m an a-hole? What if I don’t enjoy having my sex bad mouthed? Is that where we’ve come to? Women’s rights means I have to sit there and take it?
It doesn’t matter. I don’t know Mindy from Mork, and such hostile stage banter doesn’t inspire me to go find out more about her. You say I can get a free download of her current song on her site? I can’t be bothered.

Looks like Mindy needs money to relaunch her career. She doesn’t have RC money to help her along anymore.
While I don’t hold RC blameless in this situation, Mindy had one of the greatest female voices I ever heard. She never had the work ethic to go along w/her major talent and she always carried that ’sense of entitlement’ wherever she went. She had a solid label with great career advancement and turned away from their advice.
Mindy takes what she wants and gives very little in return. Voice or not, this time I won’t be supporting her career and I’m the one with every CD she released. She’s going to have a hard time starting over and this time she will have no choice but to ‘pay her dues’ as she was able to skip that step the first time around and failed to appreciate it.
I’m surprised at my own answer because normally I am optimistic and believe in ’second chances’. Mindy has had plenty of ’second chances’ and run over them. Enough is enough.

So at the CMA Music Fest Mindy just proved out her BAD attitude with the “Kiss My….” stuff which is no way to re-start a career. In my first comment above, I misspoke when I said “Nobody Cares About You Anymore.”
Please allow me to correct that to say “I don’t care about you anymore.” I would like to tell Mindy that God does care about her, but I don’t see her “humble and contrite” heart opening up in that direction anytime soon.
Her heart as evidenced by her own words is NOT humble and contrite to anyone, let alone HIM. Re: Mindy, Enough is Enough.

[...] McCready likes shouting the word “ass” from stage during her shows, judging from the write-up on her CMA Music Festival appearance, and if you’re a man and you don’t like her song “Guys Do It All The Time,” [...]
Curious says:
With all of the talent available why in God’s name did the CMA even give her the time of day?
What a joke she is. I remember seeing her on the first Fan Fair show she did and RCA couldn’t get her off of the stage fast enough. She was horrible!
Still is.
Sad
Trish in Oklahoma says:
I remember “Guys do it” as a fun little diddy. So she seems to be on her own agenda. And isn’t the fans the ones that buys your music and makes you a Star? She was engaged to Superman, she fought with her Mother, besides the drug stuff. Most things I can forgive, but disrepecting your Mother is not one of them.Mindy is the one that needs to be “kissing ass” and she needs to start at home.

This is to Linda, Sara and the others re: Mindy…
IF you understood the long and winding path to fame…if you understood that life sometimes doesn’t work out the way you like
if you understand the we all have problems, some more than others and at times “those” problems get the best of us whether we like it or not….
than you might understand that we need, as people, to support one another rather than criticize …that kindness
can go a very long way…the understanding and embracing
each other may help..
that the words of only one can have a long lasting affecg on another…
the path to fame is long and riddled with the good, the bad and all the rest…
I will conintue to always wonder why some people go out of their way to say mean spirited words…I would just like to know…why did you feel it was necessary to state what you did on this forum?? Do you know Mindy??
HAve you wbeen watching the newds regarding the woman who also went out of her way to write meanspirited emails to a teenager…and those words…helped to end the life of a young girl…
words are powerful…why not put them to good use rather than the alternative???
A “joke”? No one’s life is a joke…Mindy put herself out there…that really should say it all…it was worth the risk..but not such demaning criticism…
it takes courage to seek fame…please remember this…

Amanda says:
I think that maybe Mindy needs to focus on putting her life in order, getting and staying sober, and being a mother to her son. Call me crazy, but a so-called comeback should be second to all of that.
john says:
i dont think mindy ever got the recognition inthe music industry she deservered ithink she is a great singer and very attractive woman and if you dont like it you can kiss my a..
Riley says:
I dont think she is a joke. I think that she was trying to be funny but people really wanted to see her be humble and see her succeed in a “not so mouthy” manner. She has been through alot and I just think she just was a little scared b/c of what has happened in her past and that day she tried to hard for people to like her. As someone with a brother who has battled drugs and been to rehad and see so much of what he used to do in her. To look at him and to know him not on drugs, he is the most sweet, tenderhearted, loving person you will meet, but with drugs and when he was trying to overcome his addiction and overcome his past (yes they have to overcome what they were like and what they did)he was a not to funny person. Team Mindy!
