Can You Duet: David

Posted: May 30th, 2008 at 8:53 pm  |  By: Kim Sorensen

David OakleafDavid Oakleaf is one of the contestants in CMT's Can You Duet competition.

Today Rory and Joey opened their home up to all us. We enjoyed a homemade lunch at "Marcy Jo's," the best fried pork chops around. We then spent the afternoon doing interviews and hanging out at their farm. I really enjoyed this day because it reminded me so much of home. Joey and I gave roping lessons while others sat around the camp fire relaxing and making smores. Joey and Rory are wonderful people, I'm honored to have the opportunity to have met them and learn about their daily routine.

    David,

That sounds like so much fun. If we ever finally make it out to Nashville, I would love for you to take us there. I think Joey and Rory seem like such nice, down to earth people. They would fit in well around home. Glad you have a “Home away from home” to go to. You are very much in your element in the country. It was great talking to you today. I love you and miss you very much. Hope you get to come home soon.

    Love,
Your Big Sis, Scott and Tripp

My opinion is opposite of Amy’s. I loved the song and you both sang well individually, I just liked the harmony on some of your other songs better. Maybe after this, the two of you strike out on your own individually and you’ll do good.

We’re all rooting for you honey.
And no matter what the outcome in this competition..we know you will be able to grab that star you have been reaching for since you were 6 years old.
We all miss you and can’t wait til you can come home and hang around the campfire with all of us.
Continue to be yourself and hang tight to your dreams.

    We all love you.

    David,
Don’t let that LITTLE harmony thing Friday break your stride… you’re so close to your dream! Everybody that even kindof knows you knows how much you have wanted this, and it is so attainable for you! You and your partner sound great together! Just keep picking the right songs, and blowing Naomi away…(I think you could sing Old McDonald, and she’d love it:)… I look forward to seeing you make it through another round, and I know you will….

    Hi David,
You did such a great job. Every Friday we can’t wait to watch and see you shine. What I love most is that you truely enjoy what you are doing and it shows. One of the judges said it was the first performance that made them feel like they were at your real concert. Your energy shines bright.
    Love you,
Your cousin Linda - And a Hello to Helena…..

    Hey Man!!!

You are sounding great, looks to me like that stage is more your second home! You interact with the crowd so well, it just comes natural to you. Doesn’t matter if you are singing the homemade version of “Me Too” after the Festival or “Sweet Home Alabama” on the big stage, you always knock em out.

    Remember Bro~
If it looks good, you’ll see it. If it sounds good, you’ll hear it. If it’s marketed right, you’ll buy it. But…if it’s real, you’ll feel it.

    Keep it going,
    DC

You are HOT HOT HOT! I have logged on to your My Space site and the song you wrote ,Missing Beautiful Days, is awesome. WHY didn’t you sing that one instead of that awful song that Jared wrote? I am sure he is a good song writer, but that song was not good. Your songs are great and have such stories to tell when you sing them. You are genuine and don’t change anything about yourself. WE LOVE YOU DAVE! MARRY ME!

Wow David! You’re already getting marriage proposals..
(Like what else is new.. Been getting those since you were 10 ha ha)

I have to agree with the above post that the song that you wrote called Missing Beautiful Days is a #1 country song. It has a permanent place on my computer music library. I listen to it and all your other ones all the time.
Have confidence in your song writing ability honey.
YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES! Ask anyone that’s had the privilege of hearing you. I’d like to hear you sing more lead too. Keep that million dollar smile going. You are already a STAR!
