A Reminder Why We Love Bluegrass Fans

Posted: May 21st, 2008 at 9:00 am  |  By: Dailey & Vincent

Dailey & VincentIt was a cold, rainy cold weekend in Amelia, Va. and Gettysburg, Penn., with mud everywhere, and it reminded me why I love bluegrass fans! They will camp, sit in their lawn chairs or on blankets and watch all their favorites in concert till the wee hours of the morning. There was a huge crowd at the Central Virginia Family Bluegrass Festival in Amelia. During our first show, the rain stopped, kids were fishing in the pond and the bluegrass fans were ready to see us perform. As we walked out, Jamie and I had to be very careful not to disturb a mother duck sitting on her eggs in the backstage area!

James King came by and did a song during our second show. He had lived in Amelia for 15 years, so the crowd went wild when we sang together the Stanley Brothers hit, "Lonesome River." In Gettysburg, I did a vocal workshop with my sister, Rhonda Vincent. We had Q&A for around an hour, sharing memories and tricks of the trade. When Jamie and I took the stage, it was announced that our album has gone to #1 in the June issue of Bluegrass Unlimited! What a blessing!

On Monday, Jamie and I were honored to be invited to sing in the choir for Dottie Rambo's memorial service at Christ Church in Nashville. Bill Gaither was the leader of the choir, and I'd never been a part of a memorial service of this kind. There were beautiful testimonies and singing by The Oak Ridge Boys, The Isaacs, Dottie's granddaughters and Lulu Roman, among others. Thanks to Jeff and Sheri Easter for honoring us with this invitation to help remember an incredible lady. Now it's back to the recording studio. This weekend we're in Steelville, Mo., on May 24, and then on to Silver Dollar City in Branson for the Bluegrass & BBQ Festival, from May 26-28. Come see us! -- Darrin Vincent

Congratulations guys!! I could NOT be prouder! Your fans love you too!! You can tell us Dailey and Vincent fans by the goosebumps on our arms, the Dailey and Vincent 2008 bumperstickers on our cars and RVs, the Dailey and Vincent buttons on our Dailey and Vincent shirts, but most of all by the GIANT smiles on our faces!

We, the fans, are the blessed ones - having you guys share with us not only your music, but your love for God and each other, and your valued friendship! We love you!

Wow - a standing “O” every time - that says it ALL!!
