Trick My Truck: Rawhide

Posted: May 19th, 2008 at 11:43 am  |  By: Rob

RawhideRawhide was a unique truck for me because of the old west theme. It however did give me a chance to do yet another western truck. Remembering back to the truck Open Range in the first season. Overcoming the stagecoach theme with a modern twist was a challenge. I recalled a movie 3:10 to Yuma and knew that the cash box would fit the part, but the challenge well, partner, was the whiskey barrels that I had to make fit in the truck. In order get the barrels to fit, I knew I would have to cut them down, which was a job. I fiber glassed the inside to hold the barrels together because after cutting the bands, they would fall apart otherwise. I then mounted the cash box to the top of the barrels leaving myself enough room for the TV to actuate from the back. I had to lug those barrels in and out of that truck I would say a million times just to test fit them.

We had a great time building this truck. But getting the old time photo was a blast. We had a little field trip to Branson, Mo., where the picture was taken. That gave us the opportunity to get out of the shop for the day and have a good time as a crew outside of working on the trucks.

It makes me fulfilled knowing that we can entertain and yet keep the trucks economical for the drivers to use out on the road. Hopefully everyone enjoyed this truck as much as we did. I know David really enjoyed it. So we'll check you later!

I got ’sucked into’ the Friday night CMT line up w/Can You Duet, followed by Mobile Home Disaster - both of which I had a blast with - esp. MH Disaster - and I just went on to watch ‘Trick My Truck’ and RAWHIDE was the first time I ever watched. I was ‘blown away’. How on earth can you get all that work so smoothly edited down to run in the time slot?????????? RAWHIDE was a sheer beauty of a truck (GREAT workmanship, you fellows) and watching the owner’s face just did it all for me. I can’t promise to watch all the time right now, but will watch when I can. AMAZING!

Hello, i’m using my friends computer and email. I just wanted to let you know that you did an excellent job on the dooley. I was wanting to know how I can ask for a chance to trick her truck. She has done so much for me and I don’t know how to repay her. She has always put everybody and their problems before herself and her own problems. I have had a few car problems and I have a medical problem that prevents me from working. She has a old 88 Chevy 1/2 ton that is more or less a “redneck” truck. Do you know how the guys from trick my truck can help me? Please help, thanks Lisa B.

I too miss all the original guys. That said, What you do for all of these hard working people touches my heart each and every time I watch the show. I would love to part of a group of individuals that have so much talent and put so much of themselves into each and every job they do.

I wish the best to all of the past crew as well as to all of the new guys.

I really enjoy the show. I can draw inspiration for my own projects. On the truck “Rawhide”, you used a 12″ linear actuator for the Jensen HDTV. Can you tell me where to get the actuator? Thanks, M

For all who wish to know what became of the first TMT crew go to their website. There is a formal statement issued. Sides whats the difference ? People come and go in businesses like this every day. Look at the turnover at OCC.

Dear Trick My Truck..My name is Buddy Uptergrove from Granite Oklahoma and I would really appreciate it if yall could trick out my dad’s 1997 Freightliner FLD mid-roof. My dad has had bad problems with his neck for 28 years due to a wreck in a Mercury bobcat in 1980 and he has wire in the back of his neck. My dad has 3 boys including me, and he has missed out on a lot of our childhood because he is rarely home. He usually spends a month or two on the road going coast to coast hauling refridgerated goods for Lawerence Transportation out of Rochester Minnesota. He has been trucking for all of his adult life. I usually go with him during the summer but in that little truck there is not much room for two men. My dad loves to have a bunch of room and he likes for stuff to be in order… I have always wanted my dad to have a truck he can tell his family about and a truck that he won’t have to come home and fix something on it every time he is home…..Please Chrome Shop Mafia trick my dads truck…………Buddy Uptergrove

I’m a 58 year old woman who really enjoyed seeing the Chrome Shop Mafia at work - Who would have thought it! Maybe it’s a good thing that I won’t be watching any longer. Much of the draw to the show was the original cast/crew. I was so surprised when I watched the first episode. I felt like I had been tricked. There is no comparision this show is all “Hollywood”

My boyfriend is a truck driver and watches the show when he can. He also has his own service business and works as a mechanic helping out people who need to be helped when they are stranded along the freeways and highways. He has a dooly truck that he bought but is in serious need of repair itself, but since he is on the road truck driving he doesn’t have the time to fix anything. I wish he was able to stay around home but had a nice truck to help people in. I wish I knew where else to put this? There aren’t any phone numbers.

I really miss the old crew! No offense to the new guys, but I want the old crew back! The show is just not the same :( I was reading on yahoo answers that the original crew decided not to support the show because of difference in opinions, that the show was basicaly making silly choices.

Trick my Truck is a great concept. I REALLY loved season 1 with the ORIGINAL CAST. Now it just feels weird to watch the program with the new crew. I hardly watch it anymore for this reason. Especially since the script is unchanged - They say the exact same things as the original crew did. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL CHROME SHOP MAFIA!

Hi guys, I love trucks. I own a 61 chevy custom long bed truck.I just bought a Kaiser jeep deuce and a half M109. This is where i think you will be very intrested in the kind of truck this is. Its a military truck runs on diesel fuel but also runs on bio diesel.I want to trick out just the inside, with a long couch, dance pole, flat screen tv, bar, humidor. It also has a BBQ that slides out from one of the side boxes that was made custom. I think the idea of keeping it original on the out side makes the inside a total surprise. It will be a fantasic way to entertain our troops.Thankyou Laura

I saw this truck in person in Dallas. The quality of the work is phenominal. Like most other regular viewers I missed seeing the CSM crew but business is business . The new crew is great. The CSM is a tough act to follow, but I feel you have succeeded in filling that gap with Kelvin, Steve, Matt and Allan. Rob and Rhino are the best.

I am having withdrawl pains from no new shows or even re runs. Any hints on the new season ?

I am really interested in getting Trick My Truck to trick my husbands 1986 Mack. It is not a big rig but it is our main income producer. It has water damage, body rot and needs alot of work. We are foster parents and have 3 of our own. My husband was brought up in foster homes because his mother passed away when he was little and his dad was addicted to heroin. He did not want my nephews and niece to grow up like he did. He had to struggle with living from foster home to foster home. He got picked on by the foster parents real children. They used to torment him and made his life a living hell. Because of his bad memeories, my husband opened his heart and promised himself never to let family or anyone else to suffer like he did nor treat anyone like that. He is such a giving person. Even my twin sister is also living with us because my husband didn’t want her on the street. Our family was one of the lucky ones that was affected by fraud and we lost our house. Without my husbands income, I fear we cannot afford our rent payment. That is why I am pleading with you to consider tricking my husbands truck. Thank You for all the wonderful work that you do.

I’m just trying to find a more direct way to contact the cast or producers of “Trick my Truck” I want to know if the rumors are true that Chrome Shop Mafia is planning a special show in memory of Jake Eilen. My husband used to drive for Tom and we are friends with several of his other drivers. We would like to know if such an episode is planned and when we could plan to see it.

much to the dismay of my children i am a fan of TMT. i am a 60 years old female, when i was small my dad drove a truck and when he was home i would play like i was the driver for hours. at the end of everyone of your shows i get big tears in my eyes, what a great thing you do for truckers. i have applied at many truck driving school, and been rejected, for lack of experience. i have tried companies that give on the job traing and been rejected. my age seems to prevent me from becoming a trucker, but i will keep on trying, and you keep on keepin on.

RYNO IS AWESOME AND ONE OF THE BEST AIRBRUSH ARTISTS IN THE COUNTRY. THE REST OF THE NEW CAST HAS NO REAL PERSONALITY AND FRANKLY LEAVE ROB AND RYNO TO CARRY THE SHOW,

Just love the Pickett brothers, they are nice on the eyes!!! Also Rino is amazing, have never seem anyone that could paint like him!! I just hope the crew will get another show. I will not be watching anymore of the new ones. I’m sorry but their just not worth watching!

I wasn’t sure if a 97 Ford F-150 was a truck ? I see the pictures of the rig’s… I just thought I would email just to see what it was all about. My son, who is 20 has a Ford F-150 and all his life wanted it to be “that truck”. We try and hope to support him, he is a great kid, he is going to the local community college, works part time at a grocery store and would love nothing more than to have a truck of trucks. I know, there probably is a different site or address to go to, I just didn’t know if you could help him? We live in Florida in a small town (Cocoa) and really, most of his time is spent school work and if he is lucky fishing. We can’t afford to fix it up for him how he would like it and just keep it running. It is a great truck, but has seen a new engine and looks clean, but his whole dream is a really ‘cool’ truck. Not gonna try to say we are dirt poor, but we aren’t rich and really, to try to help him and help the kids he knows really know that dreams could come true, would be awesome….It may be just his dream but I really thought it was work leaving a comment, maybe someone would see a chance to help a good kid and maybe change his life?

Hey, I love the show, but the original team was better, which is almost what everyone on this page says. However, alot of people on this page want their trucks to be fixed, half of them are normal pick-ups. I am pretty sure that the old team left partly because some of the people picked werent even truckers. I could ask to have my pick-ups fixed, (A 1975 IH Scout, which is beat-up, hardly runs, and needs body work. And a 1974 Chevrolet C-10, which runs, but again is beat up, and needs body work, and if you go over 70 the hood flies up.) But I won’t ask for them to be fixed because 1. This show is for the Big Rigs. 2. That is what overhauling, and pimp my ride, are for.

With people getting so greedy, whats next? The guys building houses for the drivers?

With all that being said the show is great, but is moving away from its roots, and destroying it original fan base.

    BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL TEAM!!!
