Quite a Few Questions About the ACM Awards
They gave out a dozen awards at last night's ACM Awards. So a bunch of artists went home with big shiny trophies. But all I took home was questions. So many questions. Like why did Brad Paisley take the line about "he copped a feel as you walked by" out of "I'm Still a Guy" during his performance? Why is Rodney Atkins already doing a medley of hits so early in his career?
How come Toby Keith didn't include the quintessential hotties, in bikinis and cowboy hats and barbed wire tats, in the performance of his latest single? How long has Jack Ingram had that acceptance speech ready? Why is it that Sugarland is the first one to put a song on country radio with no drums? Why was Miranda Lambert so surprised she won album of the year? How is it possible for Taylor Swift to look as good wet as she does dry? Were some of the songs cut short? What's the difference between a song and single of the year?
Why can't the sound people do a better job of making these artists sound as good as they really are? When did Garth Brooks' hair get so damn gray? Was Kellie Pickler so nervous her voice was shaking? Who are the people who stood right around Keith Urban and where do I sign up for that job next year? How did Sarah Buxton make those beatbox sounds when she backed him? Why did Kenny Chesney have to close the show by thanking his parents for having sex, an image that will now live on in everyone's memories as his entertainer of the year speech is replayed over the next month?

Billie says:
I thought overall, great show, very pleased with all the winners, but I think I had all the same exact questions.
Jenny says:
Who was the girl with Kenny Chesney??????????
josh says:
I cant answer them all but I can say that the difference between song and single of the year is single of the year is for the artist and song of the year is for the writer. As for Rodney Adkins, They were making a big deal out of his 4 #1’s this year as such a new artist so he did the medley of the 4 of them.
shayne says:
i thought Ms. Parton was scheduled to preform?
Way to go Miranda…
JD says:
Just when I thought pop country couldn’t suck any more than it already did. I stand corrected. Waylon would kick the livin mess out of Nashville if he were still ‘touring’.
Dustin M. says:
The “Copped a feel as you walked by” line was also changed when Hank Jr. sang with Brad, at the CMT Awards Show.
chris matte says:
garth brooks was awful…he was so winded, he destroyed all his greatest hits…personable guy, but he should not be singing anymore…sorry garth
JD says:
garth brooks has always been awful. I point to him as the father of what country has become. A ridiculous circus that only exists to serve the profits of a handful of music execs. It’s not country. Anyone who thinks that it is country is tragically mistaken.
Deborah says:
Way to go Brad and Kenny. Brad is the best. I was really glad to see Clint Black, to bad he didn’t sing. I agree that Garth sounded really bad and he and Trisha should take a lesson from Brad and Carrie and sing together, not try to top each other. WHY DO ALL FEMALE COUNTRY SINGERS SOUND THE SAME??? WHY don’t they sing country music? I love Carrie Underwood, but damn her, her new single sounds like every other Shania want to be. Where are Martina and Dolly when we need them?
Susan says:
The sound was awful I agree. But I thought they were going to honor Brenda Lee, Conway Twitty and Porter Waggoner as well. Were they honored off-stage or earlier as well? If time is the issue…start the show earlier.
Jim from The9513 says:
Q: “Why did Brad Paisley take the line about “he copped a feel as you walked by” out of “I’m Still a Guy” during his performance?”
A: Because we can’t have anything in the show that would make little Johnny ask his parents uncomfortable questions. “Mommy, what does ‘cop a feel’ mean?”
Q: “Why is Rodney Atkins already doing a medley of hits so early in his career?”
A: Because his current single, “Invisibly Shaken,” is boring and floundering around #40 on the charts. The medley was a way to remind viewers that his album has four #1 singles–now go buy it, damnit!
Q: “How come Toby Keith didn’t include the quintessential hotties, in bikinis and cowboy hats and barbed wire tats, in the performance of his latest single?”
A: Because the sheer brilliance of the songwriting of “She’s A Hottie” would be overshadowed, and we wouldn’t want that. It’s important, when you’ve written something so poignant, to make sure you let the song take center stage.
Q: “How long has Jack Ingram had that acceptance speech ready?”
A: I would say since about the time the nominees were announced, and he realized that no one else had a chance in hell.
Q: “Why is it that Sugarland is the first one to put a song on country radio with no drums?”
A: Oh, they aren’t. They’re just the first in a while.
Q: “Why was Miranda Lambert so surprised she won album of the year?”
A: There are a number of possible answers to this, but I would say that it’s because it’s unusual for a show that typically ignores artistic integrity to pass over better-selling albums in favor of something which earned widespread critical praise, but has made considerably less of a commercial impact.
Q: “How is it possible for Taylor Swift to look as good wet as she does dry?”
A: That’s a question no man would ever ask.
Q: “Were some of the songs cut short?”
A: Yes.
Q: “What’s the difference between a song and single of the year?”
A: “Song” is meant to recognize songwriters, whereas “Single” is about a “single record’s” impact and success.
Q: “Why can’t the sound people do a better job of making these artists sound as good as they really are?”
A: The question is, are you basing “as they really are” on how they sound on their records? If so, you should think twice about that evaluation–because records can be misleading.
Q: “When did Garth Brooks’ hair get so damn gray?”
A: Who cares? Garth is the king.
Q: “Was Kellie Pickler so nervous her voice was shaking?”
A: Kellie Pickler is always that nervous, it seems like.
Q: “Who are the people who stood right around Keith Urban and where do I sign up for that job next year?”
A: They were either his posse, or they were seat-fillers–volunteers who are entrusted to making sure that the house appears full at all times. It may, in fact, be easier to get into Urban’s posse than to get a gig as a seat filler.
Q: How did Sarah Buxton make those beatbox sounds when she backed him?
A: With her mad skills. Sarah Buxton is gangata, yo.
Q: Why did Kenny Chesney have to close the show by thanking his parents for having sex?
A: Hey, he’s a very pragmatic guy.
Mary Lou Sprowle says:
I have too many “WHY’S to ask them all.
I am so sick of hearing the name Carrie Underwood. She is so full of herself, and she is not that talented.
How sad the tribute to those who passed away was so lame. I agree Eddy Arnold should be honored, but others left us last year too.
I keep asking myself , after each awards show………why do I sit there to watch this stuff? It is nothing like it was, when country was country. Just not going to come around again.
Reba was the highlight of the show..George Strait never ages, and who will fill Reba’s shoes???? Not Carrie Underwood.
DD says:
Overall I thought it was a great show.Love Keith Urban but that performance was disappointing. I would have liked to see him perform ON STAGE!! Loved Sugarland’s new song!
Margaret says:
Why is it always the same people? This could have been the same awards show as the last, the one before that, and the one before that. Aren’t there any deserving new folks?
Melissa says:
Dustin and Jim: If he can’t say copped a feel how come he can say things such as a back rub means only a back rub, a drunk naked girl and then the line at end about still having “a pair” which seem to be is the worst line of that hole song if you’re worried about what kinds of questions your kids will ask.
JoAnn says:
I recorded it, so I’ll check again, but I could swear that Paisley did say that line the first time, and then said the line about “making a comment” the second time around.
And, really, Toby Keith turns my stomach. The songs are bad enough without actually seeing half-naked girls hanging around him - I did not miss the girls one little bit!
Sugarland was adorable. They have so much fun - cute dancing and a load of talent!
REALLY liked Kenny’s song. I’ve just come around to being a Kenny Chesney fan.
I LOVE Garth, and I “love, love, love Miss Reba”!
Jennifer says:
I never see the Dixie Chicks anymore. You can’t tell me that NO likes ” Not Ready to Make Nice ” cause the song rocks!!! And for all the people that are still crying over their comment I think its time to get over it!
Cole Edwards (JensBoyfriend) says:
I thought last night was the best ACMs show EVER!!! Sugarland did amazingly good, and I was pleased with the whole night!
Penny says:
Ok I never thought I would say this but, Garth you really sucked….sorry I think maybe Trisha is really bringing you down….and Why did she feel the need to be on stage with you???? You will always be a star but you REALLY need to do your own thing…Trisha has been riding on your coat tails for years…..Trisha stay home your making Garths hair gray!
Nick says:
Why is it country music relies only on sex appeal to get them sales now? Taylor Swift made a fool out of herself with than stint, and Carrie Underwood has probally one of the most trashy songs I have heard in a while. Garth Brooks pitch was awful but Trisha Yearwood sounded amazing. And ANYONE who thinks Carrie Underwood has a better voice than Trisha Yearwood knows NOTHING about Ms Yearwood. I can guarantee you in 17 years Carrie Underwood will not be the star Trisha is today. And where was one of the only true country artist Josh Turner. Oh and as for Brad changing the line in his song its because he dosent really have a pair and will change the lyrics of his songs to fit the standards of CBS.
kayefun says:
kayefun takes a run at answers for Alison:
Brad’s “I’m Still A Guy” may not ‘have copped a feel’ but he still had a pair:)
Rodney Atkins with four number ones in a year didn’t make us miss our favorite - he sang ‘em all.
Toby Keith’s big screen backdrop gave us plenty of ‘hottie’ flavor as in subtle vs. flamboyant.
Jack Ingram’s acceptance speech no matter how long planned had a real good message for us all.
I love Sugarland’s “Stay”, but it would have to be factually proved to me as being the first on country radio w/no drums.
Miranda Lambert - I wonder if she had been taking some ‘heat’ or negative feedback re: her music and style and being herself. It was good that her close relationship said it would be all right to be herself, that’s supportive. Country people love you a lot for being authentic and true to yourself.
Taylor’s wetness was a shocker, yes she still looked cute, and it proves out her committment to performance.
Trace’s “You’re Gonna Miss This” was abbreviated version and “Shift Work” seemed shorter.
Diff between song and single of the year, got me stumped. Does one get played more on the radio and the other sell more???????
It’s good to know that Garth’s hair is as bright white as my own. Feel like I’ve picked up a brother along the way.
Missed the nervous or shaking in Kellie Pickler’s voice all together. Have the show taped and will pay attention to my replay.
Don’t know who was around Keith Urban, but for the most part they behaved. Got a brief notice of Sarah making the background noise for him. Sarah could have forgone the Keith Urban hug on national TV.
Kenny Chesney’s acceptance comment could be ‘Freudian’ because the blonde sitting next to him was ‘hot’.
Reba’s hosting was ’solid’ as usual. The show ran ‘on-time’. There were many performances that sounded just a little off in pitch - like ‘flat’. ‘Everday’ by Rascal Flatts was not one of them - was a highlight. The performance style of Sugarland w/the new release was really fun - now that was an interesting song - I wasn’t sure that it was ‘down home’ country, but I couldn’t find another genre it fit in and I liked it. Carrie Underwood looked ‘phenom’ as usual. I’m glad the people put in even a brief tribute to Eddy Arnold w/Carrie and Brad P. George Strait looked remarkable, that’s a handsome man! That was the first time I’ve heard “I Saw God Today” and just loved it.
yup says:
JD, down towards the bottom couldnt have said it any better! Pop country sucks! Traditional country is the only country that should be playing now a days. Kenny chesney?? Garth Brooks?? Toby Keith?? all these so called country singers needed a record deal as a pop artist. Long live Texas Music! Good job Jack Ingram!
JimmieJ. says:
I agree with most of what has been said. I don’t understand why Keith Urban hasn’t gotten more awards. He is an amazing performer in every way. Also, he has worked hard for years to get where is he today. Too many performers seem to become stars overnight and I am not too impressed with them. Last night many sang off pitch or else the sound was terrible. Keith Urban was not one of them and deserves better. I also think that the Entertainer of the Year Award should have been selected by the Academy members not the fans. It’s turning into an American Idol competition.
JLS says:
I think Kenny Chesney is an ungrateful brat. If it weren’t for the fans that bought his music and then voted for him he may not have won. Fans do not ‘cheapen’ anything!
kayefun says:
Re: the ‘off’ sound - pitch or whatever - I did see some mini-fiddling like reaching up to the ear pieces several times. Just a micro-second here and there.
Re: Garth - He gave passion, but seemed breathy and out of singing practice. It wasn’t the best he could be.
Re: Taylor - she is way out of my generation and I continue to hold back judgement and bashing and taking a hard stand against her. I’m not the one to buy her music.
Re: Carrie - she is sure having a hard time w/some country acceptance. I look at it this way, she can sing, she’s from the ‘country’, and she chose to sing in the country music field when she could have gone anywhere else.
Re: Young country music generation: Some of it is ‘hard to swallow’ so I choose not to take a drink waiting for ‘my country’ to come back around again. I know it will.
Paul says:
Some of you girls need to get over it. Carrie Underwood is the real deal. She has pipes, and can out-sing just about anyone on stage. The fact that she looks so good as well just makes her even more of a star. You should be happy - she helps keep country music out front. And I think she’ll be around making hit records as long as she wants to be.
I thought the whole awards show was entertaining. Thank God for country music.
Adrian says:
I read Kenny Chesney’s comments bashing the country music industry for letting the fans vote for Entertainer of the Year. Mr. Chesney should be grateful that the fans still want to vote for him and should keep his opinions to himself. If that’s the way he wants to play, that’s fine with me. He didn’t get my vote this year, he certainly won’t get it next year.
janices says:
Same awards like last year. Carrie, Taylor, and few male newcomers like Rodney C. and Jason A. What about the good long time standouts, Toby Keith, Reba, Martina McBride, Brooks and Dunn,Tim and Faith Mcgraw, Alan Jackson and Trace Aikens. He is now getting accepted from being on the apprentice show with Donald Trump. He is like toby, just cause your older doesn’t mean you shouldnt be
recognized. The ONLY REASON THEY arent Picked , WE DON’T TECH MESSAGE OUR VOTES LIKE YOUNG PEOPLE. he has more important mattersto do like entertain our troops, MAKE A MOVIE,do cancer golf charites, etc.
Sylvia says:
I agree about Kenny Chesney’s comments about parents.. daa. Has he won so many times that he has run out of decent “thank-you’”? That was indignent of him. Thank your parents Kenny, but leave out the sex part please, that was tacky.
Lorraine says:
WHAT ABOUT PHIL VASSAR!
How come Phil doesn’t seem to make it to the nominee list for ACM’s…………….he is by far a better singer, writer and performer that Brad Paisley, Rodney Adkins, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw.
Let’s get Phil Nominated next year!!!!
bayoumama says:
I watched to enjoy the show and not disect every act and presenter. I did enjoy the show and did notice some problems here and there. It appeared the emphasis was put on Carrie to carry the show, however, Reba wore the ACM crown! Wish Reba, Leanne, or Trisha did the Eddie Arnold tribute, Carrie did not have the passion in her voice to reach the sentimental purpose of the act. Very monotone, almost disrespectful to the cause. I enjoyed seeing Clay Walker as a presenter, so handsome and definitly best dressed. Hoped he would sing, maybe next year. How was Taylor able to sing in the rain with a microphone? Worried she would get shocked! Good show, however very predictable.
JW says:
I also was wondering, like Nick, where was Josh Turner?
It would have been nice to see him do the Eddy Arnold tribute since I read just recently that he was Eddy’s favorite new artist. Josh deserves much more recognition than he gets IMO.
Penny says:
I still say Trisha sucks, and so did Garth….Sugar Land ROCKS!!!! Great New song!!!
Why did’nt James Otto sing? Great Voice!
RT says:
Not one entertainer or presenter thought to thank the troops or otherwise thought to mention them. Country used to be so patriotic but now they’re like everyone else. What a disgrace. Have they forgotten?
TNgirl says:
Jenny, the girl with Kenny is his girlfriend Allison Stewart.
Kenny was joking about his parents lighten up!
Kenny is not mad at fans he’s upset with the ACM, he thanked all his fans and is very thankful to win.
He said he wanted to win like eveybody else did like Garth Alabama, & Reba the old fashion way. And I for one agree with Kenny.
If thay are going to fan vote why not the other awards just not EOTY!! How can fan voting be legit?
james says:
Even though I enjoyed seeing the artists and hearing their songs last night, I was overall disappointed. Reba was great as the hostess (as always). Here are my frustrations: NONE of the winners took time to mention Eddy Arnold (country music’s #1 hitmaker). Some of the songs were cut short. Garth Brooks and Rodney Atkins doing medleys of their hits. Even my sister said that both artists should have done ONE song WELL! The Pioneer Award acts not being properly honored. After all, if it were not for Conway Twitty and Porter Wagoner (may they rest in peace) plus the Oak Ridge Boys and Brenda Lee, how would you explain today’s popularity of country music? You might as well say E.A. ’started’ country music in the 1940s and has since transcended it ever since. Until G.B., the ‘Crystal Milestone’ winner (I believe it to be a fabricated award) has put out 150 singles on the country chart, has 128 top 40 hits, 92 top ten hits, 28 #1 hits, and 145 weeks at #1 like E.A., then I would give the award to E.A.! I love G.B., but let us get serious here. Let us salute the pioneers of country music better and salute those we lost over the past year better. That would make the A.C.M.s and C.M.A.s better!
Craig Shelburne says:
Regarding the troops comment above, Reba McEntire did graciously thank our men and women serving overseas, so they were indeed dutifully remembered last night.
Ben says:
ok.. my question is why are yall hating the artist.. if you hate everything about each of them, then GO LISTEN TO SOMETHING ELSE!
I’m Still a Guy is an amazing song, and the G-Rated people need to let it go, and let the songs b as they are!
i to was surprised that Rodney Adkins did a melody of all of his songs, i was expecting Cleaning This Gun or something, but he’s a great guy, and the performance was great, i loved that Garth was back and it performing all of his hits, he was great and he is awesome!!
Garth’s hair most of his carrear has been gray, just longer.. look at past photos of him, his hair is just shorter now than it was
Kenny’s speech was awesome! and funny! i was shocked when he said that cause like most of the night IT HAD BEEN G-RATED but he’s a funny guy and it was a great joke, and a memorable acceptance speech
paul says:
I think the sound was pathetic!! nine out of ten performers would of bin voted off by Simon.Thank god for a studio and millions of dollars for professional people to help non talent.
dave says:
Sound check! Sound check! What the hell was going on!The guy who sang the melody with the stupid Baseball hat should wonder why he’s up there, and they compare Garth to the beatles! someone needs a checkup from the neck up…
nancy says:
Don’t think anyone sounded that great last nite. I think there was something wrong with the sound people.
nancy says:
There are so many different styles of country music these days. Enjoy it. Choose what you like and leave the rest. As for who wins and who doesn’t well the public is fickle. Today we like this and tomorrow we will want something new. If an artist is really good they will stand the test of time or they will just become old news. Some of the new ones of today you may not see in the years to come. There will always be something new. Variety is the spice of life. I enjoy pretty much all of them.
KellieRocksCountry! says:
I don’t think Kellie Pickler’s voice was shaking. In some parts I noticed a slight amount of variation due to the sound system, walking around fast in high heels and shaking hands with the audience. And maybe she was a little nervous since this was her 2nd awards show performance and 1st time debuting a new single on an awards show. As Kellie and other artists have said before, it’s not easy singing in front of your peers. However, as Shane Caldwell mentioned in his live ACM Awards show blog, Kellie “has her ear monitor out and she still sounds better than 90% of the people tonight!”
http://cmtlive.cmt.com/2008-05-18/43rd-annual-academy-of-country-music-awards/
Just like she always does because she’s one of the best live singers in the business. :) Remember, she made it past many thousands of singers as a finalist on American Idol, a live singing competition. I suspect that some artists wouldn’t make it past Idol auditions.
The studio version of Kellie’s new song Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful can be heard on kelliepickler.com and it’s longer than last night’s performance. Great song and positive message!
KellieRocksCountry! says:
Jim from The9513 says:
“Q: “Was Kellie Pickler so nervous her voice was shaking?”
A: Kellie Pickler is always that nervous, it seems like.”
??? Funny because she rarely seems nervous to me. I guess that’s why 99% of her critical concert reviews are very positive, why she received standing ovations at the Opry and CMA Awards, and why she was the only new artist nominated for and won CMT Awards Performance of the Year for the best live performance on TV during all of 2007. :) Have you been to one of Kellie’s concerts? You folks at The9513 should give her more credit. She’s also closer to the roots country you folks love than most popular artists are.
johnny says:
Without the backup singers most of these acts would not be able to pull off a song. Listen closely. I liked the song Keith Urban sang and he had the nerve to do something different for the TV viewers. I do not need to see another singer alone on a 50′ stage. Can these men of country music ever look up and be seen instead of hiding under a hat in the shadows? It’s like they are ashamed of the money they are making and know it.
Shirley says:
Kenny’s comment was a bit tacky about his parents hooking up..lol. I agree about the sound…a bit off, but it seems to be like that on the awards shows lately. The sound was a bit loud for LeeAnn’s song. Taylor’s rain shower was “cute”. I didn’t notice Brad’s line being altered or left out…wasn’t glued to his performance. B&D for vocal duo…interesting, I was hoping for Sugarland. I enjoyed the Kenny/George duet…sshhhhiftttwork. anywho.
Jenn says:
Why did Reba come out and sing with Brooks and Dunn when she obviously did not know what parts she was supposed to sing or the chorus other then “put a girl in it” It was pathetic and looked like it was unplanned, and if it was unplanned then why is she trying to steal their thunder. Im tired of her already!
john says:
Will the acm show be rebroadcast, my daughter is devasted that she missed it last night?
bkb says:
nancy, there was not a thing wrong with what the sound people did, don’t you get it, the artists cannot sing and perform live anymore. this music is on the path of being finally find out to be something called false.
johnny says:
Amen brother. Even the Grand Old Opery has had to install equipment in the sound to make the singers sound like something good. Without a tech on hand even the simplest show
would not happen.
fishininthedark says:
Did anyone else think that Trisha was not her chipper self when she presented one of the awards last night. It seemed as if she didn’t crack a smile?? Was she mad at Garth for the name mix up?? Just wonder if I was the only one that thought this…
octavio says:
The only question I have now is: Why did I waste two minutes of my life reading this?
Lucas says:
Jim, pretty much right on everything. I consider The9513 to be a street gang of sorts, just going to throw that out there. Betray one and the whole gang comes down on ya!
Stephen H. says:
“All These Years” by Sawyer Brown immediately comes to mind as another drum-less hit single.
BSW says:
STOP!!! Lets stop for just a minute. If we all put this much time and thought and effort into things that REALLY matter like child abuse, the war, the war on drugs, homeless families and on and on, can you imagine what we could do as a team of AMERICANS! A friend of mine was just killed by a drunk driver, someone just put a cigarette out on a 5 year old face, 6 soldiers were killed overseas this month and were going on and on about WHAT?! Think about it for awhile and see if you can DO something good today for someone else. I bet you would be surprised how much better you would feel. Try it!!
Jim from The9513 says:
Lucas–thanks. I think.
Jon says:
Well it looked more like a bad hair day than anything else. Just a lot of established record companies pushing the artist they wanted. No Craig Morgan, no Dierks or any other non mainstream artist. Personally I think they have pushed as much commercial as they can. The old days are gone. Kudos to the artists, they work hard regardless but it seemed pretty much glitz and no substance…. at all.
donna says:
i agree with the comments kenny chesney made, some of the new acts dont work as hard as say him, faith, tim. look at martina mcbride she has toured almost 2 years straight. she has put out 2 cds, her live one is absolutley awesome. what a true performer live! she has worked her butt off these past years and not once has she lost her voice or gotten too nervouse to sing plus she does not have to sell sex to get listened to. as for dixie chicks last years cmt award show was horrible the way jeff foxworthy trashed them i feel so bad for them. they are entitled to their opinion. like everybody elseand they are right.if garth, toby, george or any other mle artist said the same everybody would agree with them and we would not be boycotting them.
donna says:
another thing if carrie or taylor win next year i dont know, but yes i miss dollie, craig, jeff turner, george srait, lorretta, hank etc. johnny, waylon .
Diania says:
What was wrong with the sound system at the ACM awards? It was terrible!
Genette says:
i want to make a commemet about voting for the entertainer of the year I may not be in the music business but i do understand that every artist works very hard to leep thier level of sucess at a standard that they sey for themselves it was different to be given that chance to vote and when voting as a bib music fan myself i didn’t realize that maybe I sould not have and I’m sorry for that Now I think they should have left well enough alone and keep it they its always been so in that why no one will feel left out of feel that they wer’t given a chance because everyone deserves a chance to win that award not hust a chosen few
bkb says:
thanks donna for your comments on martina. she has never had a bad live performance and great artists like her do not blame the sound people. it is time for certain performers to step up and do their job without all the extra gimmicks to make their act look like they have talent.
donna says:
I mean Josh Turner lol!
Lucas says:
Chesney is right, isn’t fan voting what CMT is for?
CoastalCountry says:
The reason the sound is all wrong is because they probably put the studio guys in charge of it thinkin’ there’s no difference between live and studio production. Or maybe they brought the guys over from MTV to do the live sound. I’ve heard local shows that were better produced than these things. Seems year after year the sound production sucks. Go figgure
abc says:
Carrie Underwood does not deserve the volcalist award. Now Leann Rimes has a very nice natural voice.
Carrie is just an embarssmant to the whole fact that she sings for country music and is a total vegan/animal rights/PETA person
we all forget what country really means and what the producers do for the country
Rich says:
Does anyone know when this will be rebroadcated and what channel, I missed half of it.
maureen says:
who was the girl with kenny?
Marty says:
Brad did sing the “cop a feel” line in the first verse. He just chose to mixe it up a bit in the second verse. Maybe he’s just going for variety!
mgd in CT says:
I was at the show.
A few points.
Sound was horrible all the way through. Only a couple performers stood far enough away from the mike to get the sound reasonable.
Songs cut short (like Trace Adkins) and that was a dissappointment.
Garth was miserable. Saw him afterwards outside and he was winded.
During the break at the 90 minute mark they told the performers to keep their acceptance speeches short……..explains why some said little and why Flatts had music playing through most of their speech.
Most people in the place were asking why Dr Phil and his wife were presenters? A couple of wannabees. I don’t care who they are friends with.
In the end, it’s a bunch of multi millionaires back slapping each other in the front row before heading back to their Lears and G4’s.
Always Right says:
The girl with Kenny was his “cover.”
