Around the Web: Jessica Simpson Demanded Her Country Album

Posted: May 1st, 2008 at 5:41 pm  |  By: Link Ray

When it came to her record label, Jessica Simpson had to put her foot down with her to make a country album, she tells Glamour magazine. Meanwhile, in order to jinx the Dems, President Bush is thinking about sending Simpson to the Democratic National Convention.

Take a four-minute tour of Phil Vassar’s Nashville home, his refrigerator, his tippy-top attic and his Jacuzzi tub in his master bathroom.

Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful. But go ahead and be a little jealous of how gorgeous Taylor Swift is even without makeup. And if there happens to be a little guyliner on a young man, she’s cool with that.

Former folk heroine Jewel (Kilcher) is willing to pay her dues on the Brad Paisley tour in order to be taken seriously as a country artist.

It’s not every day you get to see a famed Nashville songwriter actually perform again. But folks in Dallas will have the chance tomorrow night (5/2) when Steve Wariner takes the stage again.

If it ain’t country, it ain’t right. That’s what Kellie Pickler thought of the high school chorus, so they switched her to a home ec class instead.

I think Jessica Simpson’s ‘celebrity’ has cast a shadow over the foundation of her singing talent. Because she is a Texas girl, I think a country album is a step in the right direction, but just one step. She needs to evaluate what she wants to do in her career and go with it. She might have to concentrate on doing one thing well for a while to have a cohesive career and longevity. I’m thinking if she steps into country music, she should give it her all and not just try to ‘hit and run’.

It appears to me that country music is a “last resort” to these music “artists” when they’re sales take a nosedive and careers stall in other genres. Case in point: Jewel, Bon Jovi, Darius Rucker, and now, Jessica Simpson.

It’s a slap in the face of the genre of country music. It’s almost like they’re making fun of the genre and saying that success is easy to find in country music.

underwood does not need all of the promoting because she does have talent. taylor is another case where they need to keep her in the public eye because she will soon fade because of lack of singing ability.

She ain’t country no matter how you record the album. Hollywood’s screwed her up into thinkin’ she can but theirs no way.

Jewel already is a serious artist. She got inserted into the pop music genre when she was first discovered. Anyone who has followed her career and attended her shows know of her strong ties to country music. She’s living with the president of PBR (Pro Bull Riding), yodels like a cowboy, and grew up on a ranch riding horses in Alaska.
