People Change, But Nick Lowe Is Still Cool

Nick Lowe writes right up to the brink of being a smart-aleck, but I never want to smack him because I fear we see the world the same way. I'm not exactly what you'd call a hopeless romantic, so I gravitate to songs like "People Change" and "Lately I've Let Things Slide." Yet, I am constantly impressed how he can write about frustration, and still keep a good groove going. He played a solo acoustic show in Nashville earlier this month to promote his new album, At My Age, and he captivated the audience with his melodies as well as his dry English humor. He can write a heck of a love song, too, if you're into that sort of thing.

Here are some of my favorite Nick Lowe songs:

Track listing:

"People Change"

"The Other Side of the Coin"

"Lately I've Let Things Slide"

"Let's Stay In and Make Love"

"Man That I've Become"

"You Inspire Me"

"Where's My Everything"

"The Beast in Me"

"Cruel to Be Kind"

"What's Shakin' on the Hill"

"What's So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love and Understanding"
