Julianne Hough Prepares for CMT Music Awards
Hey everyone,
Today is another exciting day. The CMT Music Awards are tonight! I'm getting ready for the show right now, and I'm bringing my sister Marabeth as my date! I can't believe I'm going to the awards tonight. (In a way, I'm glad I got booted from DWTS so I could come.) It's a first time for me, and a lot of my favorite artists are going to be there (Reba, Brad, Sugarland, Tim and Faith, oh geez, so many).
I'm wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress that to me is perfect for spring. Too bad it's 45 degrees here.
Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you tune in to the awards tonight! JH

Mary says:
I am very excited for you. Have fun tonight.
Lena says:
Wow! I am so excited for you Julianne. What a way to start your Country Music career. The “sky is the limit” for you. You have it all! I’m certain that you will look stunning tonight in your Roberto Cavalli dress.
I’m a bit disappointed though. I just read your recent article from OK Magazine.

You say, “I wouldn’t touch Apolo with a 10-foot pole”. Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh? What’s wrong with him? He’s a 5-time Olympic Medalist and has always treated you with respect and dignity. I just saw him speak on April 1 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He only had the kindest words towards you. I was very taken back by your statement. I found it to be unneccessary and a tad rude considering that no one in the media has brought up any “romance rumors” between you and Apolo for several months.
Ron says:
Lena, Julianne’s comments weren’t meants as a putdown. They were meant to convey that she thinks of them as brothers. Would you think it an insult to her brother if she stated that she wouldn’t go near him with a ten foot pole romantically?
She could probably have offered up a better comment, but I see no insult here at all.
Lana says:
That was very rude for Julianne saying she wouldn’t touch Apolo with a 10 foot pole..that is definitely an insult..slap on the face. You wouldn’t here Apolo and Helio saying that they wouldn’t touch Julianne with a 10 foot pole publicly. I saw her on Extra when they interviewed her and read her facial expression when she made that declaration. SHe waved her hand as if Apolo was not worth it and he was like a scumbag not worth her time. I want to give her a good slug..when is she going to stop insulting Apolo. If she doesn’t know how how to speak in a professional manner regarding people..she needs to shut her mouth and the media need to stop interviewing her. How about Apolo who recently won gold medals in the recent competition events.
Gayle says:
Apolo and Julianne are good friends. Just like Ron said, she was saying it in the context of - we’re like bro/sis, i wouldn’t touch him in the bf/gf manner like everyone always claims. Chill out Lana.
Emma says:
Julianne is still a teenager and not articulate enough to make her point. I think it came across as harsh, too, but who knows what the tone of the interviewer was? With a little more experience and help from her publicist, maybe some speech coaching, she’ll be able to handle the interviews better. People probably need to stop analyzing every word she says for now. Even better, people will stop bringing up the dancing romance stuff. She has surely sent mixed messages.
Kris says:
Congrats on the CMT award show! Weather always ruins the best laid wardrobe plans. The “10 foot pole” comment was a bit harsh, even though I’m sure it wasn’t meant to be. There were so many people thinking that either Apolo or Helio was a “soulmate”. I don’t think that, and maybe the comment was taken out of context, but I’m sure the way it was written will hurt the guys’ feelings.
seann evans says:
so what happened in dances with the stars your brother got food poisning from a piece of trident..they did well though, one week triing to do a 360 with his head and trident this week,so kidding bro..Then i flipped channels i hope to god that guy was,nt talking down to you,I voted had to go with 35,Im drunk and lovin it…so, with you all the way.this only looks better on my resume..

Deena says:
Congratulations on your appearance yesterday at the CMT awards, Julianne Hough. It was nice to see you and your sister, Marabeth Poole, on the purple carpet - both of you were absolutely stunning. You presenting Brad Paisley was great as well.
Julianne Hough, it is unfortunate you had to say you would not touch your partners with 10 foot poles, then turn around and say it was because you thought of them as ‘brothers’ and ‘friends’ and that they were not ‘dirty.’ These unfortunate words were also used in a radio interview you did a few weeks ago. Too bad rumors and gossip have to be talked about at all, when it should be all about your music. Good luck, Julianne Hough - I hope you get everything you want, but most of all, get everything you deserve.
andy says:
It is unfortunate that Julianne doesn’t think before she speaks but she is young and hopefully sooner than later will learn.
filipinos4houghs says:
Exactly Ron, she meant what she said, that she would not touch them nor her brother Derek or Mark in the way people are saying she did. People understand what she means they just want to switch it around, like andy. She is young but she’s not stupid. andy have you won dwts 2 times, and have a singing contract? What were you doing at 19? You go Julianne and enjoy life and never keep your eyes off God!!!!
Deena says:
It is unfortunate the ‘entertainment’ shows have to even go there anymore. It should be ALL about Julianne Hough’s music career, her appearance on the CMT Awards last night and her Season 6 partnership with Adam Carolla (what a wondeful job Julianne Hough did with him), NOT about past rumors and innuendoes. Do not understand why those particular words were used, but can understand Julianne Hough’s frustration with having to deal with those stupid questions YET AGAIN!!! Wish they would be left in the past and Julianne Hough is allowed to get on with her very bright musical future.
Candace says:
I agree that there is no need for the “romance rumor” questions regarding Julianne and her former dance partners. However, I was very taken back with Julianne’s “10-foot pole” comments regarding Apolo though. I can’t speak for Helio but Apolo has treated Julianne with only kindness. I saw them dance on tour last summer in Bridgeport, CT and believe me their interactions both “on and OFF” the dance floor certainly contradicted the “he’s my brother” comment. Their behavior towards each other was very romantic and flirty. Trust me, she would NOT have acted that way towards Derek. Her comments toward Apolo were very rude and a “slap in the face.” She should be “thanking her lucky stars” that she got the opportunity to dance with him on DWTS4. Had she been partnered with John Ratzenberg, Ian Ziering or Floyd Meriweather that season, she wouldn’t be the “upcoming Star” that she is today. Just a few months ago, Julianne did a radio interview where she clearly stated, “Apolo’s single. I’m single. Who knows maybe something will happen?” That’s a far cry from what she said yesterday.
Personally, I could care less if she is romantically involved or not with any of her dance partners. The focus should be on her career. I do hope though that she chooses her words more carefully next time. Country Music fans like honesty. IMO this young lady is NOT being honest with her fans. She says one thing and acts another way.
Jan says:
I am shocked at Julianne’s comments in OK magazine. This is the second time she
Jan says:
I am shocked at Julianne’s comments in OK magazine. This is the second time that she has made these offensive remarks about her partners. Her family has made some off the wall remarks about Apolo as well. I just don’t understand it! She got the wins with them, now she doesn’t need them (can anyone say “user”). Watch out Nashville people , when Julianne makes it to the top, she maybe making offensive remarks about you too. She is sure showing her true colors……………..
Gus says:
Where is her publicist? Why would you use words like, “I wouldn’t touch them with a 10-foot pole. It’s not like they’re dirty.” Whoa! One of the guys that she is slamming is the face of the 2010 Winter Olympics. That is mean. Watch out Nashville is right! That little lady sounds like a “user”. Beware Brad Paisley and Chuck Wicks! Who knows what she’ll stir up about you when the tour is over.
Dan says:
What is with you people? Julianne is such a great person and the 10 foot pole comment was only to help state that Apolo is like a brother to her and I know she had no intention of being mean or anything that you guys have stated. I am only 14 years old but i am truly in love with you Julianne and I wish you the very best. love dan.
Dan says:
i am Dan’s brother and i have no idea what hes taking about. and he’s only 9 years old.
Dan says:
Im sorry about my younger brother he is the one who is nine and I am fourteen.
L.A. says:
If you can’t be happy for this young lady and want to dissect every word she says, you might want to read somewhere else. She has had rumors re: her dance partners, but they were just rumors. Unlike some other dance pros from the same show having actual allegations from a third party. She will do fine in Nashville and they already love her, they don’t care what people say about her or them. The majority of Country music people are not into the ‘worldly’ things, including gossip and rumors. Our best to you Julianne…
shelby says:
hey i like your brother derk an i like danceing with the star
Joyce says:
I am so excited for you. I absolutely love your song and I am on my way to go out and buy it. You have a beautiful voice and you are not only beautiful and so talented but seem to be a very sweet and caring person.
Good Luck to you in your singing career, I certainly will be buying any cd you make.
We sure usually do like “ya’ll” in Louisiana.
Joyce says:
I would also like to add, those of you that got all upset over the things said about former dancing partners, get a grip, you did not read it very well or you would understand she was not insulting but regarding them as “brothers and friends”. I am sure her publicist went over the entire interview and told her what not to say and what to say. You people have to remember, she is 19 years old, just starting a new country singing career and being drug through the rumor mill like all beautiful women are. Give her a break.
flipsagainsthoughs says:
Julianne is a user. I can almost guarantee that rumor will start with her and Chuck Wicks when they go on concert tour this summer.
Patty V. says:
Julianne,
Our 12 year old autistic son wants so much to meet you. We’ll be in Albuquerque next week from the 10th to the 12th for the Paisley concert. ANY possibilities? It could be a formal or informal M & G. We’re willing bo purchase passes, whatever it takes. This kid is phenomenal, he just graduated from 6th grade, won the school band award, and wants to be a dancer like you. He has overcome a lot of obstacles and continues to do so, You are his inspiraton! How can he meet you, just briefly?
Mom & Dad (Patty & David Veal)
KatE! says:
“I wouldn’t touch them with a 10-foot pole and not because they are dirty, but because they are friends and brothers!”
okay reading her whole quote it does not sound at all offensive.
