Around the Web: Meet Sara Evans' Matchmaker

Posted: April 1st, 2008 at 4:41 pm  |  By: Link Ray

Joe Beam is the man -- or spiritual advisor, anyway -- behind the relationship of Sara Evans and Jay Barker. He sounds like a one-man match.com.

If you start right now, you'll have exactly 91 chances to win a Yamaha piano from Phil Vassar.

Maybe she just wasn't drinking enough water while she was busy making her country album. But not to worry, Jessica Simpson was just released from the hospital, now that her kidney infection is under control.

Now you can look exactly like Sheryl Crow, right down to the vintage jeans and the faux suede vests, with her newly launched clothing line.

Watch for Mark McGraw, who is Tim McGraw's half-brother,  in The Sensei, a new movie about a kid who learns karate to defend himself against bullies. Wait? Didn't we see that one already?

Go to page 21 of this Peep show from the Washington Post to see cute little marshmallow bunnies around a campfire, roasting themselves.

I was unhappy to see that cmt had decided to run reruns of shows like wife swap and nanny 911, etc. I thought CMT was about country music, the people who make it, the people who listen to it and the people who live it. I know that you are probably trying to just fill time slots but this is a bit ridiculous. If you are having a hard time coming up with new ideas maybe do some shows about high school kids in the country rather than Beverly Hills, or maybe shows that promote the products that are produced by the contry music fan.(ie. farm products, factories that produce american made cars, equipment, etc) Personally I am a country listener by birth, a farmer by choice, and a CMT fan that is changing the channel.
    Respectfully
    Jason Harvey

I agree with Jason 100%. I too have found myself switching the channel from CMT. Growing up when the original music channel started where you could get 24/7 music, I have become more and more discouraged with the fact that you may get to see an actual hour of music videos a day on CMT. I realize there has to be sponsorship for the channels but at least keep them in the country genre. And as far as filling those extra time slots… speaking for myself… I’d rather be watching 20 year old country music videos than the nanny 911 or wife swap!

I also agree with Jason. Why does GAC have all the country music specials, such as the new one with Keith Urban, and “Fanfare” in Nashville? Whereas, the only new one on CMT that I’ve seen is the Alan Jackson one. It was great - but just not enough. I’d rather watch reruns of past country award shows than Nanny 911, Wife Swap, or that other “filler” that you are using. Whatever happened to Crossroads?

I find it sad that CMT runs episodes of nanny 911 & wife swap, Not too long ago I seen Hogan Knows Best on there as well! what does any of this have to do with Country Music!?

I have switched to GAC. CMT is doing exactly what MTV has done. Ruined a video channel with shows that don’t even pertain to what the music is all about. See ya CMT, I’ll be over at GAC. CMTPure Country is not shown on basic cable and all of us don’t wanna pay for that one extra channel so see ya CMT.
