Kudos for someone thinking long-term and about the future of the country music festival in Nashville. After all, these type of 3-4 day festivals are becoming more common place across the country; one of which is paying Chesney $1M to play there if you believe the newspapers articles. Think about the national economic impact these festivals have on thousands of families e.g. crews, etc.
The Nashville business needs to think strategically going forward. The local businesses are pocketing $21M+ from the festival. Why can’t they help defray the costs for artists and maybe make a great festival even better going forward.
I doubt–before this article was written–many people even knew that artists did this for free, paying their musicians/crews, etc. maybe full or above Union scale if they’re involved. Now they are the first to voice a negative opinion especially those that don’t even attend this particular event…
Glad Kix had the guts to bring this to the forefront.
