Around the Web: The Fightin' Side of Hag

Merle Haggard and the Grammy screening committee just can't seem to agree on what makes bluegrass ... well ... all that bluegrass.

Entertainment Weekly has its Grammy money on "Before He Cheats" as song of the year. They also expect Amy Winehouse to beat out Taylor Swift for best new artist.

In a CNN story about the Internet's impact on benefit concerts, Clay Walker is cited as one of the pioneers using his Web site to promote a charity -- Band Against Multiple Sclerosis.

The Seattle run of the musical Lone Star Love was the end of Randy Quaid's membership in the Actors' Equity union because of his alleged abusive and lewd behavior.

    MY OPINIONS ON EACH STORY….

MERLE HAGGARD’S BLUEGRASS ALBUM. If this album is truly bluegrass as he says it is- and I believe him- then the Grammy’s got it wrong. Oh, but they always do.

EW PICKS “BEFORE HE CHEATS”. Almost everyone is picking this to win so I hope they’re right because I want Carrie to win big!

CLAY WALKER’S BENEFIT. I’m proud of Clay for helping others with the same thing he has been diagnosed with. I know he brings hope to all. :)

RANDY QUAID’S MEMBERSHIP. If those allegations are true, then he should be gone.

In reference to the blue grass talent of Merle Haggard. I’m thinking that if Willie Nelson or Aretha Franklin did a blue grass album it woudn’t be considered blue grass either. There’s something about great artists who’s talent rises above dotted line catagory’s. One just has to love what they do and how they do it.
