Around the Web: Dierks Bentley TV, Stephen King Country

Posted: February 6th, 2008 at 5:07 pm  |  By: Link Ray

While he’s in Los Angeles for the Grammys, Dierks Bentley is making a stop on the Chelsea Lately show. Tickets are still available for the Thursday (Feb. 7) taping.

Not only does he freely admit he listens to it, author Stephen King talks about country radio’s influence on politics in his Entertainment Weekly column.

In another politics-gone-country news bit, it appears that Barack Obama has moved Brad Paisley’s wife Kimberly to get involved for first time.

Troy Gentry’s motorcycle is for sale. And if riding a Harley doesn’t make you feel powerful enough, it’s embellished with an over-the-top Batman theme.

On Feb 29, Brooks & Dunn kick off their first-ever tour down under. These Australian dates come despite much crossover exposure.

    MY OPINIONS ON EACH STORY…..

DERIKS ON CHELSEA LATELY SHOW. Does this thing come on TV or something?!?! I’ve never heard of her.

STEPHEN KING GOES COUNTRY. I’m glad he mentioned Alan Jackson’s “Small Town Southern Man” song. That’s my favorite song right now. :)

BRAD’S WIFE GOES POLITICS. I always hate when celebs endorse candidates. It’s o.k for them to have their opinions of course, but I wish they wouldn’t share them with the whole world. Oh well.

TROY GENTRY’S MOTORCYCLE FOR SALE. Nice bike.

BROOKS & DUNN KICKING OFF AUSTRALIAN TOUR. I’m glad their helping dominate the world with country music!

    Good for Kimberly!!

I’ll vote my pocketbook when Brad Paisley’s instrumental album comes out. I’m looking forward to it, and I’ve never bought any of his albums despite the hot guitar picking because his songs turn me off.

There’s way too much thin-skin in Nashville regarding politics. The guys on the California country scene always spoke up about issues and either you agreed or you didn’t. Some of the best topical songs in country music in recent times came from the Desert Rose Band IMHO.
