Geneva and Kyle's Redneck Wedding

Geneva and Kyle

Geneva and Kyle share their experience from CMT's My Big Redneck Wedding

Kyle and I were both born and bred in a small "mountain man" community, and fulfilling dreams is often hard here. When we first started dating, we knew that we would complete each other's dreams. Kyle proposed Christmas Eve right after our one-year anniversary. It was wonderful. We decided that our wedding needed to be before we started college, and after we graduated high school. So we set the date for Oct. 27, 2007, right before our two-year anniversary. Thoughts of planning, colors, food, everything bubbled in our minds. Kyle didn't want a wedding where he felt stiff, and we both wanted something that everyone could really enjoy. Eventually, we decided that we should have a wedding that reflected our culture here, and one where people could wear their everyday clothes.

The week of the wedding was crazy -- last minute shopping, getting ready and worrying about how it would turn out when Saturday came. Kyle wanted to play most of the time, but with the wedding being so laid back, I guess it really wasn't a huge deal. Our nerves were shot, but we were both so ready to start our lives together.

When Saturday came, it was like our town. If you blinked you'd miss it. That morning, for the guys were laid back; for the girls it was crazy. We were going here and there, excited about that afternoon. I thank the bridal party so, so much for being the best. The guys arrived on time, took pictures and hid Kyle when the girls got there. When the girls arrived, we took pictures and tried to hide me. Kyle says that he didn't see me, but I think he did. Everything looked perfect. Glancing from the clubhouse, it looked like there was 200 people there. Not only were Kyle and I nervous, the whole bridal party was. Kyle told me after the wedding that he almost went through a carton of cigarettes before the wedding.

Time passed and then it was time to walk down the aisle. My dad and I rode up to the top of the hill, and I got ready for the long walk. The ceremony went by fast. I thought that Kyle would be the wreck, but I know it was the other way around. Everyone cried, even people that we thought never would, did. The ceremony was everything we wished it would be.

The reception went great also. We talked to everyone as they stood in line for food, and by the time some of them got to the food, there was barely any left. Throwing the bouquet was quite funny considering that some people really, really wanted it, and the garter being thrown was cool, too. After a few bites of deer meat, cake and some home style dishes, we decided it was time to go. We left in the truck (which was covered in cake, beans, and toilet paper), headed to the redneck heaven of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tenn.

The wedding was so wonderful that words couldn't explain it. Things went wrong and the wedding wasn't perfect. It was more than perfect. Everyone there loved being laid back in their everyday clothes. We enjoyed and appreciated everyone there and love them dearly. The wedding was as redneck to some people as anything, but to us it was a perfectly normal day. Besides that two hearts joined together as one. We loved it, and it was our dream come true!

    Hey Geneva,
I couldn’t believe it when I saw you on T.V. I was standing in the kitchen and I heard them say Geneva and I glanced around and I started looking and I started yelling at my husband and I said I know her. I went to 4-H camp with her for three years. I started hollering for Brooke and I had to pull out my pictures of you with Brooke at camp. I couldn’t believe it, you looked so pretty. That was really cool. I told Mr. Jennings about it, too.

Your wedding I have seen about 4 times and I love it so much. wow I sound kind of stockerish.(if that is even a word) but no, I love how laid back your wedding was.
    Best of wishes.

First of all…Congratulations Geneva and Kyle!! I thought your wedding was absolutely charming, and I took away several ideas for my upcoming fall wedding. (The Hay Bales with quilts idea is cute cute cute!) Any-hoo, my ultimate reason for posting a comment is to address Robert E. Lee and A Southern Lady. Where were you two people raised?? I think people like YOU are what is “wrong with America”. Rude,Happiness-Shattering,Better-than-Thou,Sh*theads! I advise you both to go to church this Sunday and have a little talk with Jesus about why you’re both such A-Holes. For the sake of my beloved country, maybe the bloodlines of people like you should cease this instant! Heaven knows, the last thing we need is more little “Hate-Spreaders” like the two of you. God Bless You All…(Even You MEANIES)

I thought that Geneva and Kyles wedding was very beautiful and didnt depict anything that was harmful to anyone, or showed ruthless acts that made them look dumb. so they live in the mountains and have a accent, and they dont have alot of money, get over it they are apparently happy and in love. i honestly hope that people that comment rude like some of you dont raise your kids to act like you do, it seems that you are just jealous. im sorry that people have the time to get on here and comment with bad spelling just to make fun of someone who has a accent like everyone else in the world.. we are all different. by the way i know Kyle and his dad FOUGHT PROUDLY IN VIETAM WAR and im sure it werent for people like him a**holes would not be here like them. by the way i believe Geneva is more of a lady at 19 then some will ever be. hint hint. i truly give respect for KCMustangKid because apparently them other two need God in their lives. and excuse my rudeness but i hope Geneva and Kyle have kids …”that that there grows up to gives peoples like’n that a goo ole asshawhoppin.” go boob!.. God bless

It really shows that you two are from Tennessee. Only in Tennessee, a state that allows cousins to marry, something like this would go on. It was stupid how you go on tv making country folks look dumb. Well, you are from Tennessee. It shows. Also, another thing that showed was your similar appearance. You Tennessee hillbillies must be related. Cousins shouldn’t marry.

I thought their wedding looked like a lot of fun and was a nice change from the “regular” wedding we see all of the time. People like you three are what makes this world a miserable place at times, you should be ashamed of yourselves!! I hope this couple has a long and happy marriage!

Oh all of you inbred fucks like becca, vicki, and southern_tn_darlin go fuck your horses, sheep, and cousins. It is no wonder why all of you love Tennessee since your family trees don’t branch out. You all are a damn disgrace to society. It really shows your ignorance when you support a wedding that only sheep and sister fuckers would have. Get the hell out of America you inbred motherfuckers!!!

  • Pattie says:

Hey guys, I couldnt believe when I saw your wedding on TV. My fiance’ Ronnie just happened to look over at me and said, “I wonder who else wants a pink gun?” I always joked about having a pink gun, I think they’re great! It was just like watching us getting hitched before it actually happened. Also I just want to say congrats and wish you guys the best, I wish I coulda been there!!!

  • Southern_TN_Darlin says:

evidently nunya you need to get out of america since you dont understand the southern way of life. we dont screw sheep, cuzs or our sisters. you are the one that is ignorant if you believe all of that crap. people like you are the reason the whole dagum world is so mean because of the way you think. you really need to get out and figure so more out about the world. maybe you need to come to tennessee so somebody can show you what happens to folks that run their mouths about our kin.

Oh, I think I know the southern way of life better than you, you cunt. I am southern by blood and by the grace of God. The thing is all of you stupid people out there that think this shit is cool. This makes ALL southerners look stupid. If you like looking stupid to America, keep supporting these motherfuckers and telling the couple it was nice. That shit wasnt nice, it was fucking stupid. And all of you people who liked it well, you must be inbred too.

So fuck you Kyle & Geneva and all of you inbred fucks.

KYLE & GENEVA, GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES. I LOVED YOUR WEDDING. IT ALWAYS NICE TO HAVE FUN ON YOUR BIG DAY. THE MEMORIES ARE BETTER THAN HAVING A STUFFY EVENT.

    Posted: February 10th, 2008 at 11:23 am

I’m sorry nunya that you feel that way about people in Tennessee, and I’m sorry that your parents raised you to act so immature. If you are so “southern by blood and the grace of God” you may need to start acting like it and go to church, and learn a few more words then curse words. If you don’t like the show..don’t watch it. Also, if all you wanna do all day is trash people, then find a new hobby because apparently you have no life. It was a tv show for goodness sakes. It sounds like you are jealous, and personally you make southerns look stupid. If you know me I could care less what you say about us, but you don’t. We feel really sorry for you, and we will ask everyone to pray for you. You need prayers. It is horrible to say that a lot of people from our area (including us) sent over $1,000, food, clothes, and prayers to Louisanna in your crisis and it goes to people that trash talk us and don’even know us. -YOU SERIOUSLY NEED THE PRAYERS THOUGH- We are just glad they’re still some good hearted people out there, unlike you. Honestly you are the one talking crap..so why don’t you come up here and talk like that.. im sure we can arrange a good ole “a**awhopin”. You need to learn manners, and not to talk about something or someone you didn’t attend or know. You don’t hurt our feelings and we know that we are not cousins. By the way you need to check out the count on inbred in Tennessee AND in Lousianna you might find that your assumptions are wrong. Do us all a favor shutup and go to church. -God Bless

Go to Ober Gatlingburg, shop downtown, and rent a cabin instead of a hotel.. get one outside of town, VISIT CADES COVE that is the best part! Dollywood is great, and Dixie Stampede! Kyle and Geneva, my fiance and I loved your wedding. We are from northwestern Pennsylvania and are getting married in August. Congratulations on a beautiful redneck wedding! My fiance loved the camo and has told me he wants a camo tux for his wedding since we started dating. We even found a website that sells full camo tuxes in a few different styles of camo. The most popular one is Mossy Oak. We are getting married young, like you. I am 21 and he will be 20 when we get married. My parents are planning a lot of our wedding and want it to be pretty fancy, but we are trying to keep it simple like us. We aren’t exactly traditional, for example, my engagement ring is an aquamarine past present & future ring and I love it. Geneva, how did you convince your parents to go along with your plans? We can’t even talk my mom into the tux that my fiance wants, and I wanted a blue wedding gown, but I finally found one that was white with little blue flowers. My fiance also wanted to ride out of the church parking lot on a tractor, but that isn’t happening either.
I think if we could do it again, by planning everything ourselves, we would do a wedding similar to yours. We loved the show and so did all of our friends. Our lifestyle here is similar to yours, where people hunt both for sport and to fill the freezer. By the way, your wedding dress was gorgeous! The color went great with the camo and I admire that you got a dress to match the camo, instead of making the guys match you.
Ignore the negative comments. Your wedding should be what you want it to be and people should respect your thoughts and wishes. God bless you and I wish you both happiness for years to come.

I LOVED THE WEDDING. IT IS NICE TO SEE YOUNG PEOPLE IN LOVE.
THE PINK GUN WAS GREAT. SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND UNUSUAL FOR A WEDDING PRESENT.
THE CAMO WAS GREAT, MY SON LOVES CAMO, I RECENTLY GOT MARRIED AND HE WANTED ME TO DO MY WEDDING IN CAMO.BUT WITH ME LIVING IN OHIO, I DO NOT THINK THAT PEOPLE WOULD UNDERSTAND WHY I WOULD HAVE DONE IT.
I WISH YOU BOTH THE BEST OF LUCK, JOY, HAPPINESS AND LOVE THAT CAN BE POSSIBLE BY THE GRACE OF GOD.

    Kyle and Geneva,
Enjoyed watching your wedding on cmt. Especially enjoyed the bachelor party fireworks display (lol). Don’t pay no attention to those ignorant trash talkers, they are just jealous haters of our great southern way of life. Southern by the grace of God. If a person(s) were so disgusted on another person’s wedding, why bother watching the show or even commenting on the web site? Because of my line of work I see all walks of life wanting to get married. Some I see as sad, gross, and how could they even consider??? G&K’s wedding was different, but it wasn’t the wedding that matters. it is the vows and them standing in front of God.
My sister is getting married in June. Her wedding is going to be the largest most expensive wedding I have ever gone to. My mom complains constintly. I always tell my mother, it is her wedding, she is paying for it, let her do what she wants. It was G&K wedding, and they did what they wanted. I loved her dress, and they looked like they had the time of their lives.
Congrats G&K! And I hope you have a fruitful life together. There are worse things than redneck children. They could be snobs… :-)

I really like watching the show and seeing all the different ways couples do their wedding “their way”.Some have been a little out there but if that’s your thing,do it and don’t worry about what other people have to say!!It doesn’t matter if you get married in camo,on horseback,at a flea market…what matters is the couples’ happiness and their comittment to each other!!
I loved Geneva and Kyle’s wedding! They are such an adorable couple!!!Kyle, I love listening to your laugh! You both to me just seem like “down home good country people.”Have a wonderful life together and when you start your family, dress them babies in camo onesies!!They will be as adorable as the two of you are!!!

    Hey Geneva and Kyle:

I absouletely loved the wedding. Im from South Carolina and when I got married I was 8 months pregnant so we had a small (very small) wedding. It was me, my husband, our unborn child, my parents, my brother, one of my many cousins, my husbands uncle and our pastor and his wife. We were married at the pastors house. I just wanted to let you know we loved the wedding and I hope you dont mind but I wanna borrow a few of your iders for a vow renewel in a few years. Oh I LOVE THE PING GUN!!!!! Im so obsessed with it that every time we see a commercial for a new wedding I tell him I want a pink gun. Well I wish you two the best of luck and hope that all is going well. God Bless yall and have a wonderful life with at least 2 redneck youngins.

I understand that the terms “redneck and inbred” give the south a bad name, but not everyone around here is married to their cousin or family. I do wish these two a life of happiness and may all the nay sayers, please reconsider the cursing and name calling in their comments. I live in the same area this took place and We are very decent people here and hard working at that.So if you are going to post vulgar comments just do everyone a favor and keep your stupidity to yourself. When in the end all you are doing is showing how igornant you truly are. May God richly bless these newlyweds, may the wind be at their backs and the road always rise to meet them. GiGi

I have to say the most memorable part of your wedding is Kyle’s laugh. “How can you not hear it”. The theme was awesome and I wish you the best of luck. I am in shock that this network did not catch the fact that Kyle and the firearms dealer broke a federal law when he allowed Kyle to purchase your pink rifle for you. On the form 4473 that all federal firearms dealers must have the purchaser fill out for a background check the very first question is “is this purchase for you” and well with Kyle stating it is a wedding present, he lied on this form, and the ffl dealer allowed him to. It is considered a straw purchase, and very illegal. As a ffl dealer myself, I know that atf distributes information about “don’t lie for the other guy.” I just hope no one from atf watches this show, Kyle and the dealer would be in serious trouble. It is not a state law, so no matter where you are from, the federal law supercedes all state laws.

  • kyle says:

    Posted: February 28th, 2008 at 5:10 pm

Sorry about the confusion, but there were parts to this transaction that were not chosen for the show such as the background check. I understand the firearm laws, and in a legal way I purchased the gun in my name. Also there may have been a little bit of confusion caused by me saying “its Geneva’s gun”. By saying that, I didnt mean I was buying for anothers ownership, but instead for acasional use. Since she will only be going hunting with me, the gun never leaves “me” being the owner. I am glad you liked the show “Just Me” and just wanted you to rest assured that everything was legal. Thanks for watching and laughing with me lol.

I could just about watch this wedding over and over and never get tired of it. I don’t exactly know why, but something about you two, and the way this wedding turned out, is just the sweetest thing I have seen in a while. I guess you two just seem like good people, and from what you said in this blog, it seems like your way of planning your wedding is about the same as my way of planning mine. The only difference is that yours was camo themed and mine was patriotic themed.

Geneva, girl, let me just say, I LOVED your flowers! I was kicking myself for not being more creative with the bouquets and arrangements for my wedding when I saw how yours turned out! I also loved your dress. I think it’s awesome that you didn’t feel compelled to limit yourself to white or ivory. That green dress was so pretty, and it fit your theme perfectly.

One last thing before I get off here. I am always happy to see another couple who’s getting married young, and seems to really be doing it for good reasons (that meaning love and nothing else.) I, too, got married young (but my husband is older.) I am so happy that I got married young because I get to spend all that much more time as his wife! I wish you two many many happy years as well. :)

Kyle and Geneva-do not despair! People who are leaving negative comments need a life! My son is 17 and deeply in love. I expect he will get married when he is 18 or 19, and I think it is awesome for people to know they are in love and get married and stay married. I am an RN, divorced, and would prefer to have been a stay-at-home mom with a great marriage. I have faith that y’all will be a great couple and someday be really good parents. For some reason, I really liked you two. Best of luck, Angela (Arkansawyer living in Texas)

Hay Yall! lol. We are doing wonderful! Kyle got his assistant vet degree, and I am still in school. We have a yard full of dogs that we love like our kids untill we decide it is the right time for kids. The dress is simply a prom dress that had some material added to the back (to make it look more like a wedding dress). We actually got it online. The club is The Copper Basin Golf Course’s Lodge. It is located in Copperhill, Tennessee on Highway 64 north towards Murphy, North Carolina. Advise for anyone getting married… simply make it your own, and include your future spouse. We are excited about this hunting season.. I got a few more new guns (they are a lot bigger hehe) and we are ready to hunt! My hat that was asked about actually was stolen by a good friend of ours a few weeks ago. I got it at a gas station that I worked at when I was about 15. I have never found another one like it. :(
Everyone find us on myspace and facebook and we will talk! Good luck on all of your weddings! Happy Hunting! Love, Geneva and Kyle****
