Is it Miley Cyrus? Or Just a Look-Alike?
After paying hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of dollars for concert tickets, Miley Cyrus fans can’t help but feel a little disappointed by a concert video that’s making its way around the Web.
About two minutes in, Cyrus leaves the stage for a costume change. Nothing wrong with that. A girl’s gotta have privacy to change into a new outfit, right?
It’s what happens after Miley leaves the stage.
Immediately, a Miley stand-in pops onto the stage in the complete Miley uniform, right down to the white patent leather boots. And she’s singing (albeit to a recorded version of Cyrus’ voice) and dancing as if she was Miley herself. It happened Monday (Jan. 7) in Washington, D.C., but now her reps are admitting that it happens at every show. Why? Why fool fans? Why not just let the music play while Miley’s gone away to change? That’s a question her reps haven’t answered.
Now, fans are left wondering what other fast ones the tween queen might be pulling. Is she lip-syncing in other parts of the show? Does the stand-in come out at any other times? And why, exactly, does she need to change clothes so many times? If you look at the video through the eyes of someone who saved their babysitting money for months, you can see how duped they’d feel.
But for a change, I’m trying to put myself in Cyrus’ shoes. She knows people pay top dollar to see her, and that her wardrobe commitments takes her off stage for a total of about 15 minutes. Maybe she just feels bad about being gone and wants to make sure the crowd gets maximum Miley time.
Or maybe the decision isn’t hers at all. It’s one made by grown-up concert promoters who never thought a tiny video camera would capture such a big secret.

tiff says:
I didn’t notice that happen at her concert I saw but i was in the worst seats so i didnt pay much. But if i had i’d be as mad as that fan who filmed the video in the first place. Makes you wonder why she couldnt just do the show in one outfit instead of faking everyone out.
B.W. LaRoy says:
I’m thinking they think people are like so stoopid or something like we all sit around looking at each other and just wait for them to feed us and then we eat it no matter whut it is we just want food and so it’s good no matter whut it is and we can tell everbody we ate and it was good food cuz we were all there eating together so BiG Al you are like so right on having sympathy for us and I’m also thinking…like…um….I could have just said…Duh!
gabrielle says:
I think it is bad that miley has people dress up as her. I used too always want to meet her.But now i dont know what i should think about her?
JosieGail says:
I stand behind Miley. I am a fan of hers through the good and bad times and I am sure people will LOVE to push her in the mud for this. You paid, you got to see her and I think she put on the best show she could. It was a mistake and it will be fixed.
Lorry says:
I think some people will say anything negative they can. They will also find something wrong. I think they put on a great show/concert. I feel I got my money’s worth. Maybe Miley needs to take lessons from Reba on how to change so fast.
hotelmotel says:
Some people are saying “I got my money’s worth” and that may be true. But there was an attempt by Miley to deceive the audience. Maybe not a deception on an important matter, but a deception nonetheless.
I certainly understand that Miley could have had good motives for this and that it is trivial in the grand scheme of things.
But I think entertainers need to be careful. Some fans probably are going to resent this sort of thing.
gloria says:
This situation brings me to mind of Milli Vanilli! Does Miley lip-sync any of her music or is it just the person that’s filling in for her during her “change”? I guess she appeals to a lot of people, but I don’t get it! Give me the ladies of Country Music anyday before Miley Cyrus!
hotelmotel says:
gloria — I don’t know if she lip syncs. Its quite possible. I wouldn’t put it past certain country performers to lip sync as well. Some of them, at a minimum, are using all sorts of technology to make their voices sound moderately acceptable.
OutlawSteph says:
Promoting minors, and music that appeals to pre-teens, does not belong on this website at all.
JosieGail says:
OutlawSteph, what are you talking about? You have to be 13 to come on the board and I think Miley just turned 15. What “pre-teens” are you referring to? Be careful what you say, alot of teenagers LOVE country music and do post on the boards just like anyone older does.
BLonD GuRLl says:
josieGail wow thats weird cuz people are always on message boards dont matter wat web site so wat point do you have soo dont mouth off if you dont knoe wat your mouthing off about or too so p/o
hotelmotel says:
OutlawSteph has a point and its also true that Mannah Montannah really has little to do with country music (yes, I know Miley Cyrus recorded a duet with dad).
Debby says:
first she is a little girl. She is 14 years old, and she is a human being not a superwoman. How do you expect her to change from hannah to miley without either nothing going on up on the stage, or to use a body double that just wiggles and dances and lip sincs until she can change clothes. Give the kid a break.
As for paying thousands of dollars for a ticket to go see her……….well shame on the people paying that amount. It just drives the price up so other fans can not go. And do you really think that paying thousands of dollars is teaching your children a valuable lesson. Nope you are allowing GREED to consume the entire reputation of Miley and I don’t think she or her family would approve of that.
hotelmotel says:
I agree Miley Cyrus is just 14 and so maybe we should cut her some slack. I agree she is “not a superwoman.” But people aren’t asking for “Superwoman” they are asking for honesty. They are asking not to be deceived into thinking the person on stage is Miley Cyrus when it is really a body double. Miley may be only 14, but 14 is old enough to know a little about honesty.
I don’t see what paying $1,000 for a ticket has to do with Miley. Yeah, I think its silly at best to pay $1,000 for a Hannah Montana show. That money could go to much better use. But that doesn’t somehow excuse Miley.
In any case, this is a relatively small thing. Miley may have mislead her fans a bit, but nobody was hurt in any serious way. At the end of the day, this isn’t that big of a deal. But it is still wrong, even if just a little.
Paula says:
What is wrong with all of you people… at 14 or 15, whatever her age at the moment, Miss. Cyrus doesn’t have the choice in most decisions made in such a big buck arena, that is also controlled by DISNEY…. not only that, if any of you had seen her and Billy Ray on any of the talk shows you would know how upset that little girl was that scalpers were buying up the tickets and charging so much for the them so that her fans weren’t paying such prices, and had attempted in every way to stop it… so don’t talk about the honesty of the little girl, it’s a SHOW, you go to any show today and there are always tricks to help with the show running the way a SHOW production is supposed to, it isn’t a ‘concert’ in the traditional sense it is a SHOW production…. either way I’m sure she had little to do with all the final decisions of how that show would be…. and as for the stupid comment on her not being on this blog or associated with country music, many thing on CMT have crossover artists, and I dare say a lot of what’s on top 20 right now (and in the past) is cross over into pop and other genre’s of music (Kidd Rock and Cheryl Crow, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, etc.) Have any of you listend to the talented Miss Cyrus?? You might want to listen to the song SHE wrote about her grandfather Cyrus?? Miss Cyrus should be applauded for being a sweet, well mannered, good hearted kid, with poise beyond her years, who is a POSITIVE rold model for girls and women of all ages on how to handle stress and fame with such grace and poise and appreciation. How would any of you adults who have such negative comments about her feel if your own child was being trashed for such a stupid reason?? The supposed adults on here should be ashamed of such behavior, and should take a cue from Miss Cyrus on how to behave.
monkeypants says:
Paulas right about that grandfather Cyrus song. she did right it and it is AMAZING! There’s a nother story on the main cmt page about her singing that song at her last concert and its all good. Doesnt say nothing bad about the body double.
hotelmotel says:
Paula — It is perhaps a mitigating circumstance that Miley lacks total control over her show. The dishonesty was probably someone elses idea. But “I lied because someone told me to lie” is not a full excuse.
Nor is the fact that this is a “show” and not a typical “concert” some sort of excuse, either. Obviously, shows include various illusions. But that doesn’t make all illusions honest or acceptable. Some probably are and some probably aren’t.
JosieGail says:
Blondgirl, I did not even understand what you are trying to say. Board rules on CMT are that you have to be 13 years of age to post. I am not mad, I just know that there are alot of teens that post on the board. And good for them!
miley fan. says:
you have to understand that she just have to get chnaged into miley for her solo. would you rather her have a double body to appear for two minutes or two minutes of no music at all? its just two mintues and to have it all over the web because she had to change is just ridiculous.
hayley22 says:
i think that pix is a look alike! thats not actually her! besides my best friend looks exactly like miley heck she might even be her!!!
Dad says:
I hold the Cyrus’s responsible for allowing Disney to get carried away with greed. Someone wiser than us all said “the love of money is the root of all evil”. Sorry, but my daughter is too precious to be influenced and manipulated by these people. I wish the Cyrus’s felt the same way.
Bigest_MIley_Fan_youll_Meet says:
Ok so what if some one replaced her and just like at a photo shoot they use a fake miley sometrimes to get away so REAL Miley dont get beat up would you rather have her jumped. So what! Its a concert maybe that person will make it big now…you people are selfish
abby says:
that didn’t happen when i went
sarah says:
Oh, who cares. She just needed some time to change, especially since that was the concert in her movie.
shana17 says:
