Clash of the Choirs Competition Gets Intense

Posted: December 20th, 2007 at 4:14 pm  |  By: Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton on Clash of the ChoirsOk, so I am so exhausted right now. It’s Thursday, the night of the finals and I am still a little shaken from last night. What an incredible night for me and my choir. I am a competitive person, but I just have never felt this way. I cannot believe that we beat out Michael Bolton’s choir last night. I was shocked and relieved. I honestly can barely remember anything after they announced that we are staying. I just had knots inside my stomach. Right after Maria said that we were safe, I turned around to congratulate the choir, and then I looked over at my mom and she was crying. I was thinking she just looked so proud of me and I feel the same way about my choir. They are awesome.

Today, it feels like a ghost town around here. Usually backstage, in the dressing rooms and everything, people are walking around talking, cutting up. But, today it just feels like a funeral. It’s amazing how intense everything got in such a short period. I know I have been talking big. But I am really nervous about tonight. I can’t believe that I have made it this far. Patti LaBelle’s choir is just so good and Nick Lachey really has pulled out all the stops. It’s going to be a weird night. I just hope that my choir can relax and have a good time. I mean, this has been one great experience. Thanks for voting, guys. Hopefully it will pay off tonight.

oh my gosh, you took the words right out of my mouth, my sentiments exactly! Could you imagine, how many MORE votes TEAM SHELTON would have had if ALL the Oklahoma residents actually had power?? We still have friends in Oklahoma and their family are still without power..I know when they can finally see TEAM SHELTON on tape or someone’s TIVO, they will be sooo very proud of “their” Oklahoma pride and joy and “his” choir…you go Blake..no matter what happens, you are a winner and so is your choir. you did a phenomenal job! I can’t wait to see the show tonight!!

    Mister Shelton,
Just wanted to let you know that I caught the show tonight,”Clash of The Choirs” and thought that your choir and you had doe a superb and outstanding job. You have such
an amazing talent and I believe that GOD was with you all all the way. It didn’t matter whether you had won or lost. What mattered the most was that you gave it your all and that GOD was with you. I pray that GOD will continue using that great gift that HE gave you from the get go and continue to continue. Keep it up my friend and HE will see you through all the way.

I ditto that Alisha. Or any of the songs that Team Shelton had performed.

    Dear Mr. Shelton,
I must admit, that I had only heard a few of your songs until the “Clash of The Choirs” competition. I am now going out to buy your latest CD! You have an amazing voice! And a great personality.
My only Christmas wish; would be for you record a Christmas CD. I love Christmas music, and could listen to your voice for days on end.
Perhaps you could record a Christmas CD for Christmas 2008. Include your choir on a couple, and then donate part of the proceeds to your charity in Oklahoma……that would be the perfect Christmas gift for 2008!! I know I would definately pre-order a couple for gifts, and one for myself, of course.
    All the best to you!

I am so proud of you and your fabulous choir was representing Oklahoma. Unfortunately I missed the first two episodes because I had no power but Wednesday nights performance blew me away.
For the first time I actually voted in a TV competition show:D
I was disappointed that your choir did not win first place but all of you will be first place in my heart.
You’ve represented our state well and I really am so proud of you.

    Merry Christmas,
    a fellow Okie

    Blake,

Your choir was awesome and you added so much fun to the show. It was so great to see a country music entertainer represented in this kind of show - and in New York city! I could tell you were genuinely proud of your choir - and you should be - they showed so much heart.

Great job. Now go on home and enjoy Christmas with Miranda and your family!

Congratulations on a wonderful choir Blake. I voted all my votes for Team Shelton, you are the only reason my family watched. We love you. Merry Christmas to you and Miranda and the rest of the Shelton family.

    Hi Blake,

You and your choir did an awesome job! I watched every minute. Thanks for being yourself and representing country music in the big apple! I met you at a festival in Pigeon Forge, TN a couple of years ago and I love your music. Keep up the good work! Hope to see you in Tennessee sometime soon!

Congratulations on making it to the finals. You wuz robbed, but you stole the show with your wit and charisma.

Hope you and Miranda have a wonderful time over Christmas, but watch out you don’t do a “more you drink”.

I cannot wait to see you and Nan for 5 whole days! You 2 have some special connection and we love to see you together. My husband and I voted for you each day through the 7th and I’m certain you’ll be in the top 50 with at least one song …

Love you Blake: your personality is adorable and so are you!

Congratulations to the whole state of Oklahoma. You and your choir did them proud. I hope you are considering making a CD of the choir. It would add to your charity pot, which is a wonderful idea, by the way. Your arrangement of Joy to the World blew my mind. My daughter and I sat there with our mouths hanging open. We are both music majors and know that arrangement was top of its class. Again, congrats.

What a great job you and your amazing choir did throughout the show!! Congratulations on such splendid performances!! I thought Team Shelton outshone all the others ALWAYS! Their voices and movements blended more seamlessly than any of the other choirs! Blake, please, please, please plan on recording an album utilizing Team Shelton and donating the proceeds to your charity. I can assure you that the copies will fly off the shelves!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. Congratulations, again, to putting together the finest choir for “Clash of the Choirs”.

Blake: Met you through Brent R. Watched the show because of you and M. Bolton. I must say, for someone who knows NOTHING about choirs - you and your choir did an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME job. I was proud for you, Oklahoma, and most of all, country music and us “hillbillies”. I kept the shows on my PVR and will protect them with my life. Thank you for donating your time and talent for the wonderful cause. Brent told me you were a “great human” and now I truly believe. This show made my holiday even better.

Happy New Year, and here’s seeing you on the road in 2008!

    Kay, GA
