Taylor Swift Makes History

Posted: December 11th, 2007 at 1:34 pm  |  By: Ryan Kaldari

Taylor SwiftOur Song” just rocketed to No. 1 on the country chart, which means Taylor Swift is now the youngest person ever to write and record a No. 1 country single. This just proves that I know absolutely nothing about music marketing! So let’s see: Her album just went double platinum, she was just nominated for a Grammy, and she just became the most popular country artist on Facebook (a title she already secured on MySpace). What’s left? Oh yeah, she still has to finish high school!

In case you were wondering just what this song is all about, you can now read the lyrics on CMT.com. Don’t tell anyone, though, as we haven’t officially launched our lyrics content yet. Just consider it a sneak peek until we get the last few bugs worked out.

I just love her. She is a real person. A real singer. That’s what works. Real stuff. Get it? Get real. That’s the plan.

Taylor is a good song writer. But vocally she is boring. I’m not clear on the fame she is receiving. It just shows you it is about the looks because vocally she’s not in league with Martina, Carrie, Faith, and Reba. Let’s get real people.

I don’t see what the hype is either Jeff, she always seems boring and awkward on stage. I don’t think her vocals were ever good enough for Nashville. I was wondering if maybe she just knew someone in the biz that helped her get going. The recording studios can make anyone sound good with all the mix that is put in.

Taylor gives country music a bad name. She is a bad singer and she is ugly too.

Taylor is an “average” songwriter and a “mediocre” singer on her best day. She is the product of NASHVILLE MARKETING at its finest. Tell the people what they want and they will follow, just like a herd of sheep. The shame of it all is that there are actually talented singers that have had to work their butts of to get where they are…and then comes along this joke, you saturate the airwaves with her crap and people take notice. You could sell boxed poop with the right ad agency…just like they did with Taylor Swift.

I do not mind Taylor as a person, but i dont think she belongs in the music industry. Shes an OKAY song writer, but a terrible singer. The only place she might belong in music is as a songwriter. the reason all of these people bought her CD is for the same reason I did, i was expecting better. When i first heard her it was like “oh, okay? well maybe the rest of the record is better.” it wasnt. I doubt her next album will sell. I was especially dissappointed when I heard her live on Brad Paisley’s tour. I actually left and wandered the building which the concers was in until she was over. The whole “innocent cutesy” act is really getting old too. Its good to see someone trying to be a good role-model, but i think she needs to show an ounce of maturity sometime too. Sorry guys, shes not quite there for me.

I think Taylor Swift is gorgeous, her eyes are really unique and pretty and her hair is awesome, i thinks he looks great with her big curly hair than straight, yeah shes not a good singer especially to be in the country industry but she has amazing songwriting abilities, she also has a great personality to go along with it,
she wrote every song on her album, not a lot of ppl do that today!

    I love you Taylor!!!

I think Taylor Swift is very pretty and apparently a decent song writer, but she is absolutely the most over-rated singer out there these days. I’ve yet to see a live performance where her vocals were any where close to being on key. She’s obviously being pushed by the industry to draw in the young country music fans.

Thanks Mystified…I agree with you, Taylor is over-rated as a singer or maybe she has not learned how to master singing in front of an audience. What is going on with the industry? They put her up there with Carrie Underwood, don’t think so! Maybe as a songwriter, but as a singer, she has to grow up.

She is a talented songwriter and uses the voice of someone her age and doesn’t try to write older or sing older than she is. I have heard from several people that have met her backstage or at an appearance that she is quite snooty with her fans that are her peers. She needs to remember that these kids are the ones who will buy her next album and remember the golden rule.

I have both of taylor’s cd’s and they are great! I think t.s is a great singer on her cd’s but when it comes to live performances, she is not that great. Its really disappointing. Yes, I know she’s only 19 and I give her snaps for what she is doing, but I think she could use some voice lessons to strengthen her vocal abilities. She is a very pretty girl and anyone who says she’s “ugly” is obviously jealous.
