More Applause for Jennifer Nettles’ “Stay”
I was in the middle of writing my blog entry for this week when I discovered that fellow scribe Whitney Self had already beaten me to the subject. It turns out that both of us are swept away by Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles’ masterful video performance in “Stay.” Because her acting is so good in a role so unlike the one we’ve come to expect from her, I predict the video will win her a legion of new fans.
Until I saw her in “Stay” (she also wrote the song), I viewed Nettles as little more than a cute, feisty, take-charge type who clicked around the stage on high heels like a delegate at a dominatrix convention. Sure, her voice was always forceful and her posturings eye-catching, but I kept wondering if she had anything arresting to say. It’s obvious now that she does.
Sometimes an artist’s first video establishes his or her ideal image, one that instantly conveys the desired identity and stature. That’s what happened to Billy Ray Cyrus with “Achy Breaky Heart.” It presented him right out of the box as a sexy, fully realized rock star, a concept that still serves him well. It was different with Garth Brooks. His first video, “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” introduced him simply as a sensitive family man. While that was an important part of his persona — and still is — it wasn’t the element that rocketed him toward superstardom. That came with “The Dance,” his second video. It portrayed him as a sort of cowboy philosopher who concluded — after mulling over the tragedies that befell Martin Luther King Jr., John Wayne, John F. Kennedy, the Challenger spacecraft crew, Keith Whitley and rodeo star Lane Frost — that taking risks is essential to living a meaningful life. From that point on, young fans embraced Brooks as the man who had something important to say about the nature of existence, a concern that hits especially hard during the adolescent years.
“Stay,” of course, is aimed at a different and older audience. But it’s a vast one: women who’ve been badly used by men who supposedly love them. Such women will now see in Nettles a sympathetic sister instead of the encroaching femme fatale she has heretofore represented. Men who’ve watched as one affair after another escalates from no-strings recreation to a state of desperate possessiveness will be wise to avoid the video altogether. It stings.

Ham says:
oh,man!!! I’m a loving this. Finally the world is figuring out what a talent and gift to country music Sugarland is. Someone please explain the problem with the CMA nominations now……
bballmom says:
Sugarland keeps you on the edge of your seat! And Stay has given many people a “wake-up call”. Good for you Jennifer and Kristian and good luck with the new tour. May every seat be filled and the Change container full!!!
Jez says:
About time the group is seen as the powerhouse they really are!
OutlawSteph says:
“Such women will now see in Nettles a sympathetic sister”
No offense, but can’t women who are looking for this sort of thing just watch Oprah or the Lifetime Channel. To me the song is just a bland, strummy, easy listening song.
When I think of a country song, I think of a twangy Telecaster and pedal steel guitar played by professionals and singers in Nudie suits who are tough as nails. Emmylou Harris is a woman I really look up to. That’s what made me a country fan, and I’m thirty-something year old woman.

Claire says:
I tend to agree with Edward Morris - the “Stay” video could be a defining moment in Sugarland’s career - and in shaping Jennifer’s image. Of course, not everyone will think so - greatness, by its very nature, is fraught with conflict and controversy.
So, keep going, Sugarland. Keep being great and making history and keep making us think, and feel, and cry, and take action in our lives. It’s why we love you.
Ann says:
Is it just me or does the tears and sadness seem very put on. I don’t buy it.
Cat says:
Love this song & video. Sugarland captures the real life emotions of those is an affair. You can feel the pain, deep love and conflict as Jennifer Nettles sings this awesome ballad. There is even greeting cards that express these feelings called the Secret Lover Collection. I am so glad to see that Jennifer truly expresses the raw emotion & conflict of this type of relationship in this video. Thanks Sugarland for giving us a song with such passion about a taboo subject. I hope they win “Country Song and Video of the Year”!
stafford collinsworth says:
i saw the video ’stay’ and i reacted like i would if my daughter was crying. i wanted to tell jennifer that everything would be alright. i was not accustomed to see her crying … and i wanted to fix whatever was wrong. i imagined what it would be like if i (63 years old) had a daughter who was crying… i would want to help (if i could) the emotions projected in that video are real and terrifying to an old man … i was impressed with jennifer’s delivery and i could feel her pain. seeing jernnifer like that made me very sad … what an actress.
i hope that her next song will be bright and cheerful
come on jennifer, you can do it…
sincerely,
xstafford collinsworth
Kevnn4 says:
Is it just me or are people not realizing she is the ‘other woman’ in the song. The guy she’s talking about is married and she (jennifer) is the mistress. Listen to the first few lines in the song… especially the line “it’s just another call from home… you’ll get it and be gone and I’ll be crying.” For me it sets the whole mood for the song.
Your thoughs would be appreciated.
Thanks all! =-)
jack says:
I recently became disable so i have alot of time on my hands.i bought ur CD enjoy the ride and it kicks butt, from stay to settlen its a real insperation.peace
B says:
I DONT KNOW ABOUT ALL OF YOU … BUT WHERE IM FROM… I WAS TOLD TO NEVER CHEAT, STEAL OR LIE. THIS SONG IS ABOUT HER HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH A MAN WHO CHEATED ON HIS WIFE WITH HER AND SHES CRYING WHEN HE LEAVES???? WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER WOMAN? DID SHE NOT CARE OR THINK TWICE WHEN HE TOLD HER HE WAS MARRIED. I DONT GET IT!!!!!!!!!!
B says:
AND WE’RE ALL PRAISING HER FOR A “GREAT” SONG. THERES OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING IM NOT UNDERSTANDING HERE ….
Jordyn says:
I love the song “Stay” I would say that its your best song EVER!!
Kimmie says:
To B, I don’t think anyone is condoning having affairs. That is not what this is about. But for whatever events led to being in this horrible position (woman on the side) her heart is aching. Even if it is her own making, we don’t want to see this pain in anyone do we? By the end of the song, she has accepted that she is in a no win situation, that she deserves better,(and so does the wife) so she,(Jennifer) hopes that when he is with his wife, that he should “stay with her”.
Angela says:
Having been the wife on the other side of this coin I have felt the exact same emotions (bawled like a baby the first time I saw the video)!! Even my husband teared up and wouldn’t stop saying how sorry he was all day. He didn’t realize until I told him that it was from the other woman’s point of view (dumdum). I thought it strange that the person who probably best understands my pain and hurt is the other woman. We both suffer from the same affliction: loving a man who you’ll never be enough for. Now, do I feel sorry for her? Nah. She knew what she was getting into and had a choice in the matter-what did she expect!?!? I love Jennifer Nettles. I’ve been a HUGE fan for over 10 years. My Soul Miner’s Daughter CD is still in regular rotation (and damn near WORE OUT)…but if this is from personal experience…well, shame on you.
Rose says:
I just wonder who the man was…was it bon zovi, I thought wow when they did that video together?? just wondering
Mike says:
Why is it not possible to recognize, and give credit for an outstanding, soul stirring performance. I agree with Stafford. The first time I saw this video, I wanted to run to her and protect her and help her through the situation she was in. I am 43 and have a daughter. I hope that she never finds herself in this situation. I never want to see the pain in her eyes that Jennifer showed in her performance. You people act like she is bragging about it. IT IS A SONG, A STORY. There are acts of adultry in the bible. I don’t think the intention of the song is to in anyway condone infidelity. On the contrary, if anything it is an all too real look at the pain that an adultrous affair can cause. And a very realistic take on how those things usually end. Very seldom does the man leave his wife and stay with the other woman.
Awesome job Sugarland!!!!!! I am a fan for life!!
M says:
Like Mike says, it is a SONG…but what is mind boggling to me is the reluctance of the public to acknowledge the occurence of extra-marital affairs. Why do you think over 50% of couples get divorced? Not because of affairs, because over 75% of people cheat…but the husband almost NEVER leaves-the wife does only once she finds someone else herself. I was the “other woman” once, and yes I am ashamed of it…it was horrible and certainly not something I planned…but I believed the husband when he said “he couldn’t live without me” and almost ruined my life. Thank you, Jennifer, for the eye opening performance of a lifetime…had I seen this before I got involved in my mistake, I think I would have been smarter.
M says:
One more comment. I’ve done years of research on this subject. Over 75% of people cheat. That means that 3 out of 4 comments on this page have cheated, are cheating or will cheat in the future. Most never admit it, even to their best friend, but they’ll publicly ridicule anyone they know to be in the same situation. The only thing more disgusting than having an affair is forever denying it. Anyone willing to openly sing about it and possibly help prevent it deserves to go straight to #1. And I’ve never even been a Jennifer Nettles fan before this, but I am now!
Mark J says:
*quote*: Of course, not everyone will think so - greatness, by its very nature, is fraught with conflict and controversy.
What a profound statement … nothing else needs to be said on this subject.
TB says:
I hadn’t listened completely to this song and at first identified with it. You see, my husband had an affair with his secretary who still works with him. She was completely unremorseful as it was just a fun daliance to her, when confronted. She knows my teenage daughter. This affair has broken our home. When my daughter and I were listening during a car ride, I was singing to this song and she said, “mom, this song is from the “other womans” point of view”. I think it’s a powerful voice and the video is powerful but it made me think differently as I have no sympathy for the other woman. Infidelity destroys more than just marriages.
Rabboni says:
All of you…get a freaking life….No wonder you’re all having affairs with one another….YOU’RE ALL LOSERS!
You can’t make this crap up…..the world is going to hell in a hand basket…and this is the subject matter you mental midgets decide to debate?
Peace be with you,
Rabboni T ReVealer
HUMBERTO says:
love the video and how it is acted. keep up the good work sugarland that is real talent and feelings. jennifer is so beautiful with and with out make up, thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Crystal says:
I love this song. At first i hated it coming from a family where cheating tore us all apart it was hard for me to even think someone would write this about being the other girl. But the song has for sure grown on me. No matter what you are sad about you can listen to it and feel like someon is sad with you. My husband is deployed to Iraq right not and when I feel like crying i can just watch the video and cry with her. haha. Its so emoitional and i think it takes a big person to put all their emotions out on the table, especially when they are so controversial. I love sugarland and think this is one of their best songs yet.
DARLENE says:
I was told about this song by a close friend, she stated: you have got to watch this video, since then I have watched it 3 or 4 times. My first thought, since she wrote the song, was WHO is the married man in this video?. I got the impression from the very second I started listening and watching that someone has hurt her badly. Yes, she is the other woman, but pain is pain. And I don’t think you can write these words unless you have had this kind of pain.As far as the tears, they are certainly look real to me, you have to be crying pretty hard to have your nose run also. Being the “other” woman may not be right, but again pain is pain and I could feel her pain with every tear I cryed. A renewed fan from North Carolina.
CM says:
My boyfriend broke up with me about a month ago after 8 months of happiness and bliss. It’s been a hard month, but it’s getting better, and I realize that I’m better off without the selfish bastard. But when watching this video it brought me back to that very day that he said he didn’t love me anymore. I cry every time I see this video. What did I do wrong? What changed for him? All these questions come flooding back. I know this song is about the mistress of the affair, but really it can relate to any person that has been in a relationship that has had the love of their life just go away forever. Some days are easy, some days are so very hard. This song is my “cry time” for the day and then I stay strong the rest of the day… just keep truckin’ along.
MR. MAC says:
Forget the affair, forget which woman is which and just give Jennifer a pat on the back for a job well done.
I loved it Jennifer, from the first time I heard you sing it at the Opry.
Ms. C says:
I find it amazing that anything other than Jennifer’s powerful and heart-wrenching performance is being discussed..as if the “cheating song” was somehow a reflection on her, or as a genre, a reflection on any performer that dares to sing on the subject. Would the subject be discussed with such vehemence if this strong a performance came from a male singer? Think about the cheating songs from male singers that did not stir this sort of controversy. Perhaps what is causing the uproar is the depth of feeling that this song is inspiring..and people don’t realize what exactly they are feeling. Thanx Jennifer for the cry it inspired. Helps wash clean the soul.
EVA says:
I just want to say Jennifer this is the best song you have ever sang. I could tell you were in so much pain . Keep up the good work. You will have this song hit #1 in no time. “Stay” hit home for me. I am 39yrs old now. But when I was 26ys old I fell in love with a married man. Who promised me the world. I believed every word Garret told me. Only a women with a broken heart could sing the song the way you sang ‘Stay”. My heart goes out to you. I will pray for you to get threw this. The pain you had in your eyes just mad me remember of the biggest mistake I myself had made. You will get threw this. I am now married to a wonderful man.(9yrs) You will get threw this. Take care and god bless. Eva
Steve says:
Nowhere in the song is the man identified as being married.
Doug says:
I have followed Sugarland and Jennifer Nettles for quite a while and believe me, those tears are real…I think that even if she hasn’t gone through it, Jennifer Nettles is really feeling the impact of what the song is all about, you’d better believe those are real tears, that woman is no robot, she has a very kind heart that “feels”.
I told someone recently, and I stick by it, that to my mind, Sugarland is becoming to country music what the Beatles became to rock music, a band that is transcending the “country music” stamp, they are a band that has great harmonies, great songs, songs that are spreading out in their range and impact and they are sincere and talented performers who work very well together. They appeal to a wide range of people and they aren’t afraid to try songs from other performers (i.e., “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce).
I firmly believe that Sugarland is forging a very special place in country music, and that’s no slight to all of those who came before them. Their music has very wide appeal. It’s the right performers in the right place at the right time.
Christine says:
Has anyone thought that the song could be from both points of view - the mistress AND the wife? There’s a point in the song where she sings “It’s too much pain to have to bear, To love a man you have to share” after that, she talks about how she can’t take it any longer and she knows what she has to do. At the end of the song, she sings, “When she begs you not to go, There is one thing you should know, I don’t have to live this way.” Seems to me like the song is written in third person, an observer looking at both sides of the situation. I give her credit for writing such a touching song.
Seth says:
This song is about her husband. Their divorce was finalized in March and, from what I have read, he was not happy with her touring and he became unfaithful. After acquiring that information, I think she did sing it from both sides…but she is the woman who is being cheated on. Great song…love Sugarland….love Jennifer Nettles.
BEAVER says:
THIS SONG IS VERY POWERFUL, AND EMOTIONAL, AND SHOWS THE HURT OF CHEATING FROM ANY SIDE.
WHAT SETS A SINGER ABOVE THE REST, IS WHEN THEY CAN FEEL EVERY SONG THEY SING, AND THAT IS WHAT JENNIFER DOES.
SETH: I DO BELIEVE JENNIFER WROTE THIS SONG WHEN SHE WAS STILL ON HER OWN. ( IF I’M WRONG, SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME)
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF SUGARLAND’S SO FAR, BUT THERE IS A NEW ONE, NOT YET RECORDED, BUT THEY ARE DOING IT AT THEIR CONCERTS CALLED ” FALL INTO ME” THAT IS I’M SURE GOING TO BE MY FAVORITE. IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD IT, PLEASE TRY TO FIND IT, IT IS FANTASTIC.
Pat says:
I left a post o=n the other reading of this song…it is really sad how people can judge others when they have never probably been in that situation. She really captures you and makes you feel she has been there done that because if you have you what she is saying….I am not sure why people are getting mad at her…she is singing its her job to captivate you with her song and she did that….no difference then Hank williams and his drinking and I (believe me) can give you hundreds of cheating songs…so why is everyone making a big deal of this one….because she did her job with great emotions and delivered in a way no one else has…..BRAVO to sugerland….and for those that haven’t been on either side or only on why, you should let the right person judge them.
KFray says:
I saw Jen preform this song live on thursday night and it was heart breaking to watch the tears well up in her eyes. I think that it definately has someting to do with the divorce that she just went through. For all we know, she was cheated on, and she could have wrote the song from the point of view of the “other woman” because she realized that both women were hurt in the situation. Either way, its an amazing song.
DFraz says:
All I have to say is that Jen is simple an AMAZING artist/person and if she has to ball her eyes out for some people to see after this long thats really sad. And I have seen so many people who criticize this song, and I think they are wrong. I dont condone cheating but lets be humane in saying both women suffer when men do this to them. This song has given some women strength to get out of situations like this, with all the negative things in our society lets focus on that positive aspect. And this isnt the first song about cheating, I mean seriously… And I also saw Jen perform this song last week and she does an AWESOME job, naturally, but it is heartbreaking and it almost made me cry and want to go give her a hug! For whatever reasons I think this song has a personal meaning to her and its a form of therapy for her so back off people and stop judging! GEEZ!
So,I say this to Jen, PRESS ON SISTER! Do what you have to do and keep pressing on singing and writing what you believe in and what comes from your heart cause you are AMAZING! And no one can take you down!
jenny says:
SETH….YOU ARE RIGHT ON!!!! FROM THE VERY 1ST TIME I HEARD “STAY” I THOUGHT SHE WAS THE ONE BEING CHEATED ON, NOT HER DOING THE CHEATING!!! WHAT MADE ME THINK THAT WAS IN THE SONG, SHE SAYS..”WHY DOES SHE GET THE BEST OF YOU” AND IF HE IS CHEATING, HE’S GOING TO GIVE THE OTHER WOMAN THE BEST HE’S GOT!! THATS JUST MY THOUGHTS!!!
Shelly says:
UM, HELLO - GARTH AND TRISHA, 1997′S “IN ANOTHER’S EYES” RING A BELL??? ANYONE THAT DOES NOT THINK THESE TWO HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE ON THE ROAD TOGETHER, AND THAT THIS SONG ISN’T ABOUT JENNIFER’S PAIN - IS NAIVE! WATCH THE CMA’S AWARDS - LOOK HOW HE SQUEEZES JENNIFER AS HE KISSES HER AND BARELY “PECK” KISSES HIS WIFE. I FEEL SO SORRY FOR HIS WIFE - SHE MUST BE IN THE WORST PAIN OF ALL.
JoAnn Mullen says:
Jennifer Nettles singing Stay…… AWESOME. What a
great talent.
frank says:
i was blown away when i saw sugerland on the CMA’s never heard of them and i couldnt get over their performance of stay. if you ever had a love like that you can relate (male or female) WOW, i watched the video a dozen times today. i am a fan now.
“Bentley” says:
I never realized until reading the posts on this site that it is a song from the “other woman’s” point of view. I can relate on some level… My husband was very seriously dating someone else when we started dating, and he left her when I realized how unfair it was to her for me to be with him… I told him he would have to choose which woman he really wanted, because I didn’t want to share anymore, nor did I want to hurt the first girlfriend anymore than had already been done. Everyone says that cheaters are despicable, and while I agree that cheating is downright wrong, sometimes emotions get in the way and reason goes out the window. Learning from your mistakes and admitting you’ve done wrong… that’s what separates good people that made a bad decision from the rest of the pack.
Jennifer - No matter what point of view you were on, I feel for you. You’re a great vocalist, and life does go on.
Rich Winter says:
Would love to hear her do a remake of Janis Joplin’ssong little girl blue her voice would be perfect and she could add a country twist to it. Would be a smash hit!!!!!
Adrianna says:
I love this song “Stay” and I think Jennifer Nettles is awesome! When she sang this on the CMA Awards on Wednesday, I knew I had to go out and get the CD “Enjoy the Ride”. I can really relate to this song as I was the other woman about 30 years ago,..and happy to say that 27+ years later, I am still happily married to the man,..so yes,..he “Stayed”.
Jennifer Nettles is a wonderful singer and songwriter. I’m a fan for sure….
Lisa says:
I have walked in those shoes—but he was NOT married. “Stay” came out just as I was ending that unhealthy, desperate situation, and I nearly ran off the road when I heard it the first time. It hit EXACTLY where I lived at that moment.
If you never have dated someone who was also involved in another relationship, God bless you, but for those of us who have, it’s a sensitive, intelligent portrayal of a woman reclaiming her self esteem and her choice to do the right thing. BRAVA Jennifer!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joanne says:
I heard this for the first time while working outside I had the country music station on and this song just bellowed accross the field while I was tying up my horse I stopped dead in my tracks….I have never heard so much emotion or pain in a song. I too was in a going no where relationship when I was younger and the pain was debilitating. I just stopped and listened and cried. when I saw her at the CMA’s her performance was incredible and the emotions undeniably real. Kudos Jen you brave girl I wish you all the best. Every negative has a positive and you will reap the postive rewards by revealing your pain with us take it all the way Jen.
Marta Linch says:
While I was very moved by the lyrics of “Stay” – I find it impossible to sympathize with the “other woman”. The wife GIVES her best then “she” gets the best of him. The wife gets the marital headaches, money disputes, and dirty underwear on the floor…”she” gets the best of him because “she” only knows Mr. Nice Guy. “She” sees only his best side. The call from home is where he belongs. If “she” is down on her knees begging him to stay…she chose to live that way – while the wife has most likely begged him to stay at some point, even through his lies and deceit
Donna P. says:
i love Sugarland!!! i love All their songs.”Stay” is an awesome song. i cried the first time i heard it & still do now & then. she sings great(look at”Stay” her singing with just Christian playing the guitar)tell me that’s not talent!!! Jennifer & Christian go together. their stage performance is great, their videos–whether they are upbeats which they look like they have so much fun, or if it’s a slow song with so much feeling it shows. Yes!! i do believe that Jennifer crying was for REAL.congrats on winning duo of the year–you deserve it. i Love Sugarland & a Huge fan.& I LOVE “Stay”!!!!!!!!!!
christy says:
He gets a call from home which definately points to the other woman theory. Besides, how many people do you know that would tell their wife that they’re cheating, but that someday they’ll “leave” their lovers “arms and forever be in mine”? More like the other way around.
Another thought though, I heard the somng started out as being in the third person, and then ended up being first person. The power and raw emotion that makes the song great comes from the pain. The effect wouldn’t have been the same if she were telling someone else’s story. Not all songs are biographies.
Al says:
“Stay” wil go on to be a Sugarland “signautre” song.
What makes the song and video so good is in the simplicity of the presentation. “Stay” is so different from everything else that’s out there, you can’t help but notice - it stands out!
If Jennifer is “acting” in the video, then she’s a damn good actress! Kristian says that during the filming of the video he almost halted production because Jennifer was becomming emotional during the play-back.
I’ve heard that Jennifer wrote “Stay”. I would like to know more about the story behind the song. Most songs extend from paying attention to the world around us and do not necessarily reflect one’s personal experience.
Brian says:
It sounds like a song of a broken heart during a divorce, and thats what she went through….
great song
Elizabeth says:
For all of you who THINK this song is about someone being cheated on, you’re wrong!!
This is about a woman sleeping with another woman’s husband and how heart breaking it is. I use to be a BIG Sugarland fan but this song is horrible. She shouldn’t have slept with another woman’s husband and she wouldn’t be crying about it.
Sue says:
Was Jennifer Nettles the sole composer of “Stay”? I saw a female songwriter (didn’t catch her name) at Douglas Corner Cafe in Nashville last week. I could have sworn she said she wrote the song.
Marco says:
i think Jennifer’s performance on the country music awards was so great, i taped the show and i watched her sing countless times. to sing a song like that with all the emotion she put in it, and in front of all her peers and America was beautiful
Scott says:
First off, my wife and I LOVE Jennifer and Sugarland. This video is absolutely wrenching when you watch it and we have over and over. But there are a couple of things that seem interesting. Nobody has mentioned her holding the silver necklace in her right hand through the video. Sure, for video purposes it could be a prop, but my wife and I thought that she really has gone through this and that is “his” necklace. I don’t believe it is a song about her divorce, but that is definitely a theory. Just one note however, that necklace sure looks a lot like the one that Bon Jovi wore in the CMT Crossroads show….Check out the pictures.
Tom N,J, says:
To All Who Speculate,
When I first heard Jennifer sing Baby Girl with Sugarland I was taken in by her powerful vocals and twang, I researched her and found she had been performing for 10 or more years and had 2 previous bands. The last was the Jennifer Nettle’s Band. I went to her web site bought her CD Acoustic Evening with Jennifer Nettle’s. On that Cd she sings Stay, Since this was live she clearly states before she sings it that she was listing to the radio and heard Reba sing Whosever In New England and this prompted her to write the song from the other womans perspective. This is not a recent song but years old nor does it have anything to do with her recent divorce, although the emotion may be from that experiance that is for sure. CHECK ME OUT
K says:
Did you ever think that maybe it is just a song. Not every song that is written needs to come from a personal experience. Maybe someone really close to her was hurt like this….then maybe she was the other woman…no one knows. Why are you ridiculing her for a song, a damn good song and a fantastic performance. She is a performer by trade and she is good at what she does. If you do not like it, that is fine, but don’t attack someones character without knowing the truth.
Steven says:
I think the song is a piece of crap and she looks like and idiot in the video. I lost it for Sugarland after this song. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sugarland will “STAY” away from my tv and radio for a long time.
The Dster says:
I have watched the video a few times and believe she is hurting, and since I’m not married I think I can help her out.. I am a nice and caring guy that will out of the kindness of my heart (and to help her out)offer to “stay” and not mess around so she will stop crying and have a renewed outlook on how not all men will lead her on.. I know it is a tall order to renew her faith in men but I do what I can for gals in a bind.. Great song with passion but she needs to run a brush thru that hair..
The Dster says:
Oh also I have to add she will have to learn to cook buscuits good and does anyone know if she has a pool at her place? If I’m gonna “stay” may as well be comfortable and have a good tan.. Yall be nice to each other.
rd says:
see 11/25/07 parade magazine.she say’s she wanted to tell the “other woman’s side of the story”
her words, not mine.
BVA says:
First let me say this is a song - very well written and the video was awsome. As far as the content - easy for some of you bimbo’s to judge. If you have ever had a relationship with someone you really came to care about you would realize sometimes it just happens and you don’t see it coming. Friendships can go all directions. Blame on who? The spouse that ignores you or is abusive? The friend/lover that wants some one to care about and be cared about. The song tells it all - right or wrong if you don’t know both sides don’t pass judgement.
Angel says:
Sugarland is my all time favorite band. I love jennifer nettles. She is from my hometown Douglas, Ga. I can’t believe she has made it. I can’t get enough of her music. She was so great in the “Stay” video. You can feel the emotion. I cry everytime I see her. There is no way those tears were fake. She put her heart in it.
Jim says:
Saw Sugarland at Gillette Stadium in July with Kenny Chesney and Jennifer came out and sang a song with Brooks and Dunn Incredible!!! Saw Sugarland last night with Little Big Town UNBELEIVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
TIM says:
I THINK STAY MY BE ONE OF THE BEST SONGS IVE HEARD IN YEARS. IT RATES UP THERE WITH FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES BY GRATH. THEY’VE GOT A HIT ON THEIR HANDS. WHEN SHE SINGS IT SORT OF REMINDS ME OF JANICE JOPLIN. IVE NEVER BEEN A SUGARLAND FAN BUT I AM NOW. ALSO EVERYONE ELSE I’VE TURN ON TO THIS SONG FEELS THE SAME WAY.
TIM says:
TO STEVEN YOU NEED HELP MAN
Jennifer says:
Go Rabboni!
Heather says:
When I first heard this song, I couldn’t quite figure out why I liked this song so much. Obviously, Jennifer is an amazing singer and that had something to do with it, but specifically, the message of the song got to me. I am happily married to a wonderful man, we have a great relationship. This song really hit home, but in a totally different way. See, my husband is in the military and gone all the time. In my life, his “mistress” is his job. There are so many times when I just want to tell him to “Stay”, but I can’t. There are times when I cry because he has to leave. I’m sure many military spouses act out the last verse of the song and eventually leave, but I won’t. I am totally committed to my husband and support what he does. The message of strength in the song can be interpreted different ways and the message of the song means something just a little different to me. I really love this song. Thank you Jennifer & Kristian for putting out such a powerful song.

Jennifer wrote this after pondering Reba McEntire’s Whoevers in New England. She thought about the mistress side and how co-dependent that woman would be with no future. So the song starts out with the mistress wanting to be number one and only and ends with the realization that this is a no-win relationship and she doesn’t need it.
The story comes from her performance at Eddie’s Attic in 2003.
F-Bomb says:
Jon Bon Jovi is the man who she sings about in this song. Anyone agree ? Jon cheated with her and then broke her heart. Jon you give love a bad name.
Sabrina says:
I am so excited that Sugarland will be headlining Craven Country Fest in 2008. I have been waiting for them to come to Canada, for what seems like forever and now their coming to my home province of Saskatchewan (you know the one…where the Saskatchewan Roughriders brought home The Grey Cup)hehe just thought I’d add that. But for real though, I’m excited, I can’t wait to see them on the big stage.
Jessica Sperling says:
Hello, my name is Jessica Sperling and ive been wanting to find someoplace on here to tell you that the song “stay” that you made is one of the best youve writen yet! it touched my heart so much and the first time i watch that music video i was with a few friends and i had to leave outta the living room because i was baling! I love surgarland so much. I am a major country girl, all i listen to is country! I live in Michigan in a little town called Marion Springs. Which im sure noones heard of, but anyways, good job on what youve acomplished and whoever the guy was that you were talking about is so dumb because you are so pretty.
love your BIGGEST fan,
Jessica
Michelle says:
This song is making me crazy…it sounds just like another song to me, and I can’t figure it out. I’m told that it’s not a remake, but upon hearing it for the first time, it seemed as though I knew all the words already…I KNOW I’ve heard it or something almost exactly like it before. HELP! I want to say it’s Trisha Yearwood or Reba, but I can be wrong.
Lorna says:
Well I happen to think this is one of Sugarland’s best songs yet. And I have to admit that I too from the very first time I heard this song, thought that she was singing about Bon Jovi. I have always been a fan of his and when my favorite country band was teaming up with Bon Jovi I took every opportunity to watch them. I noticed early on that they have alot of chemistry. Now I’m not saying this is fact, but I think there was way too many looks and too much chemistry for “nothing” to be going on. Besides you can’t blame either one if something was going on. It is my opinion that something did go on and this is her way of getting over it and letting the world know (without coming right out and saying it).
Lanie says:
no offence but i hate ur song it drives me up the walls !!!
and it makes a good point but it sticks in my head and it drives me insane!!! not kidding!
CntryFan says:
Wow! Amazing performance by Jennifer in this video. I can’t stop watching it even though I am fighting back not so distant memories and emotions. She is so genuine and it comes across in “Stay.” She is so involved in this song and broken down and yet still beautiful as she cries. It sounds weird but I don’t think she has ever looked so good. I have always liked their music but now I am BIG FAN. Great Video!
chuck says:
stay was well written and beautifullu sung no doubt her voice is some kinda bitchen lovin it always she will go far aaaaaaaamen
STACY says:
What is the story behind Jennifer holding the necklace in her hand? I see what looks like a wedding band on it.
I LOVE the video and song.
Diane Waddell says:
Hello Jennifer,I love everthing surgarland does.Stay is a very good song.I am glad that Sugarland made duo of the year.Diane
Jim Nageotte says:
The video Stay is the very best video ever made and should win a special award!
I don’t agree with the cheatin’ part, but the performance is masterful! Way to go Jenn!
Carlton Wade says:
Thank you, Jennifer, for bringing talent back to country music. Why you continue to allow those other people in your visual marketing is astounding. You are the act. You’ve always been the act. Cut all ties now. You will fly higher than Shania or Faith or anyone else lately. No question. You ARE the real deal. But you knew that years ago. Sugarland? Pffff. Jennifer is the new name of your act.
Tom N,J, says:
Yo Carlton
Wake up she tried that for more than 10 years DID NOT WORK. I love her but this is how it will work.
tomte says:
A stunning performance which, to me a 60 year old with a lot of distance behind me, makes me believe that passion trumps showmanship. Enjoy it for what it is, a truly beautiful presentation of love which we all know can be illogical. I love the song, the video and I love Jennifer’s talent.
mandajo says:
i have never been through what this song talks about, but if i ever did it would explain it perfectly, i think sugarland is a force in country music to be watched out for everything they do comes from the heart and i thinks thats great and i love any group or person who can right there own music and make a hit with it like sugarland has done so many times already keep it up sugarland your just getting started and i cant wait to see were you LAND!!!!!
Kg says:
Thank you, Jennifer. Whatever the real story is behind this song, it is obviously emotional. Kudo’s to you for getting it out on paper and then to music and finally into this very moving video. And while it has touch you, I noticed in the video it seemed to touch Kristian as well, in a much subtler way. He seems to be feeling the pain his friend has gone through. What a great team you two are!
Thanks for sharing your talent!
DamnYankee says:
THIS IS REAL LIFE! Obviously we can’t help who we fall in love with no matter what the circumstances are. When I watched this video for the first time, I cried with her because I’m in the same situation. You know you shouldn’t be there, but can’t get the guts to say goodbye. The last verse where she changes her attitude and says “you can’t give me what I need” is exactly what we can’t say. Jennifer, you hit the nail on the head. While those of us in this situation aren’t proud of ourselves, sometimes the heart speakes louder than the head.
Cindy says:
I totally agree, that Jennifer Nettles is outstanding in the video “Stay”. I applaud her so much for showing emotion and reality, and not needing to look like the perfect “plastic Barbie” look we’re all so accustomed to seeing in videos and tv. I received the Yahoo article of “celebs without makeup” and there was only one I recognized! As far as I’m concerned, since the video “Stay”, Jennifer Nettles has my vote in every category. What a beautful woman, not needing to hide behind a mask, brave and secure enough to display how being a woman can really feel sometimes. Can’t thank her enough for that.
tulgeGaljatte says:
Make peace, not war!
Carrie says:
Jennifer is wonderful in this video. She really captures the emotion of the song. I recently picked up First Magazine (Jennifer is on the cover!) and in the article she was so positive and talks about looking at life as an experience and being thankful for all life’s lessons- good and bad- because they make you who you are. Seeing her sharing her obvious emotional depth then hearing how she still stays positive is inspiring. Bravo Jennifer!
MELISSA says:
Sugarland is my all time favorite group. And Jennifer certainly proves that she can perform. The song tells a story
whether it is her story or not, that is what it’s suppose to do.If you don’t like it move on.Why criticize,is this the FOX news channel? I love Sugarland!! where can I get a ticket?
Donald Stevens says:
Hey all I can say is Jennifer has a great future. I hope “STAY” goes to #1 and stays there for a while. She is great, and I don’t say that too ofter.
Jeri says:
This Indeed reminds me of a Bob Dylan song, where Jennifer
is writing the character’s story rather than her own. I really think this is a great song and so touching. I never
thought of what the other woman feels, not having approved of this, but it gives me a whole different perspective with this great song. Jennifer was playing a role and putting herself in the “Other Woman” role, one can see how very painful this was for her, imagine the “other Woman.”
This is not her saying she approves of this behavior. a
Great written song, Jennifer can be proud of. It really
touched me. a song of such great emotion that will “Stay.”
Just a great song! My congrats to Ms. Nettles, Good Luck!
Dusty says:
Oh man that song is sooo my life. When I heard that song i thought how does she know about my life. What a voice also she just makes you listen with a voice like that, when you hear her sing you can not turn the station.
Roy Hobbs says:
After seeing and hearing Jenifer sing “STAY” at the CMT music awards
I also was blown away. No singer has caught my attention in the past 20 years as she has singing this song.
I found myself searching the web for anything I could find out about Jennifer and Sugarland . She is as gorgeous and beautiful as he voice is strong and endearing . I just can’t wait to hear her sing and I find myself looking for her on the CMT music channel ever chance I get.
They have to play that video more.
Sugarland is now my favorite group .
Donald Stevens says:
If Sugarland Band doesn’t get an award for the song “STAY” their is something wrong with the system. This is the greatest talent in a long time. Jennifer is right up at the top with a lot of good bands and singers.
Dawn says:
I think this song is gross and repugnant. To glorify the actions of the “Other Woman” is demeaning and repulsive. I’ve been a huge fan of Sugarland’s for a long time, but no more. One song or not, this particular song turned my stomach and I find it extremely offensive. I will not be buying anymore of their albums nor will I be supporting them in any status. I doubt they’ll miss my money but coming from someone who has all their albums and been to four of their concerts, I’ll certainly be saving some.
Kaitlin says:
I think this video “stay” is awesome. They bring you into the picture with the emotions flowin like that.at least they are keeping it real and not lying to their fans like taylor swift did.Kristen isnt pregnant is she because taylor swift is. I think yall should have many more videos like this because i loved keep going yall have lots of fans behind yall
di says:
all i have to say is wonderful song, great video
DO says:
what about the women be cheated on … it kinda makes them not like her or the song because she is like the other woman that caused them so much pain. her voice is incredible though!!!
Aaron says:
As a man, I relate to this song due to it’s meaning, not the “exact” lyrics. I was in love with someone who recently lost their spouse before we got together, but that ghost of a husband was always there, “calling from home”. The point is, I too, realized one day I deserved more and was worth more. Also, sometimes we don’t plan to fall in love with people in bad situations, and before we know it, we’re in and over our heads. So all you “other women” and “home wives”, not every thing is black or white.
Good people to get into bad situations!
Aaron says:
Hey Dawn, maybe you’re missing the point of this song, not to glorify “the other woman” but to make young women, girls and all women realize those type of relationships are dead ends and they all deserve better. Who are the most insecure members of our society? Young girls and young women, this is a great song to serve as a lesson from “other women” to not get involved, be secure and KNOW you deserve better. I hope Dawn can see the glass half full…or maybe you’re just that bitter and shallow….I also agree with Cindy, Jennifer looks like a typical, real woman in this video, not a plastic, anorexic, made up Barbie.
Mike Perkins says:
I have recently got divorced ,found that i had to share her with another man.The song STAY hit home and made me realize life can hurt sometimes. But we are strong and can go on with our lives.I love Jennifer Nettles and the feeling that she put into that song. She is in my heart and my prayers.Sugerland is the best. Mike perkins
jason says:
i love you jennifer Nettles
jason says:
i what to be married to you
Pat Homan says:
I think Jennifer is the cutest thing to come along in a long time. So much talent there. I’m not that much into
country any more but I have both albums of Sugarland and
they stay on my stereo and they have not been removed for
sbout a year now. There is so much talent in Jennifer she
deserves every compliment she ever gets. You go girl, you
are the best thing in country music since Brooks and Dunn
came on the scene. Please never change.
Jami says:
Personally after seeing all the comments left I started wondering to myself. Who in this world hasn’t made a mistake, who doesn’t have something that brings them to tears??? And just like Jennifer Nettles, we too like to be consoled about our problems, but unlike her, the majority of us do not have near as good voice nor the opportunity to come out and publicly allow people into our lives, so I ask, is it really worth downing her or anyone in her situation? And is there really anyone who knows the WHOLE story…not just what is “published” in the magazines and or newspapers? I give Jennifer Nettles and the whole band of Sugarland major props for this hit and for everything that they (she) have been through. We all have our downfalls, just not as public as this. God Bless
paradise says:
I think you are really wierd.and you need to learn to sing better.
Mallory says:
Don’t mind my friend paridises comment. You are awsome i like the song stay can I meet you?
Grady says:
This song is awesome. It is her best performance and it comes from her heart and soul. That is why it is so good. I don’t know if I have ever seen any singer have a song and sing from her heart like as strong as this. Looks real to me. grady
Steve Body says:
I learned a long time ago that, anytime you let yourself become vulnerable and let your pain show itself, somebody is going to come along and call it phony. If those kinds of buttoned-up people can’t or won’t share a genuine emotion, it makes no difference to those of us who appreciate it. The world is full of cynics, just like those people who thought Kelly Pickler was faking her small-town-girl persona. (Anyone who has ever been to Albemarle, NC, will find nothing phony about Kelly Pickler. I’m from Knoxville and I know men in their fifties who have never eaten fish that didn’t come in a can.) I appreciate the gift of Jennifer Nettles’ honest, revealing, heart-wrenching performance. It ranks right up there, for me, with the best I’ve heard from Bonnie Raitt, Joan Armatrading, and Reba. The video is astounding. It’s kinda ludicrous to imagine that Jennifer Nettles has never fely pain or loss in love. She’s human, guys.
Frank Rizzo says:
I was always a one woman man, as long as that woman was Martina McBride. Strictly on the power of her voice, of course. Then, the first time I saw, and heard, Jennifer Nettles sing, that was it. Just like when Martina shoved Reba out of the way, so has Jennifer taken over the #1 spot. Sorry, Martina. Don’t waste too much time trying to analyze it, just enjoy the song!
AM says:
alas…bon jovi has been with his wife for so many years…they were off and on at the start, but it looked like they were holding on forever, maybe living on a prayer..i thought the bon jovi sugerland crossroads was excellent, good voice quality…but i too saw a lot of chemistry between them and was just hoping it was all out of fun, but when i first heard her new song Stay, i just felt that it was about him…i hope they didnt, but if they did, they each cheated because i believe she is married too, and how sad to taint something that was so beautiful in art…i just dont see her in the same way any more…i still wonder why their third parnter left sugarland
BO says:
THIS ALL STARTED OUT IN 2006. WHEN BON JOVI SOUGHT OUT JENNIFER IN NASHVILLE TO HELP ON THE SONG ” WHO SAYS YOU CANT GO HOME”. WHEN SHE KNOCKED HIS SOCKS OFF WITH HER VERSION, HE WAS BLOWN AWAY AND INTRIQUED. THEN WE HAD CROSSROADS. THIS WAS A HUGE STEPPING STONE FOR SUGARLAND, BUT IT SHOWED THE WORLD JENNIFER’S AMAZING CHARISMA AND TALENT. SHE ROCKED WITH JONA AND RITCHIE. HER CAREER HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME. YES, THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE TWO WAS DEEP. IF YOU WATCH THE SONG “BELIEVE” THEY CONNECT. NEVER HAVE YOU SEEN BON JOVI LOOK SO DEEP INTO A WOMAN’S SOUL. AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE SECOND ALBUM, JENNIFER SHOWS HER NEW TATTOO IN THE SHOWER SEEN OF HER FIRST VIDEO OFF THE ALBUM. THE NEXT TWO OR THREE AWARD SHOWS THEY SET TOGETHER. SHE SANG “STAY” BEFORE ONE THE THE AWARD SHOWS SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE THE VIDIO WAS RELEASED. SHE DID NOT SHED A TEAR. BON JOVI PERFORMED A FEW MINUTES LATER AND LOOKED LIKED A BEATEN DOG. IT WAS DOWN HILL FROM THERE. WE ALL ARE HUMAN. MANY OF US FALL IN LOVE AT VULNERABLE TIMES IN OUR LIFE. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF IT WAS PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL, THE PAIN IS THERE. THIS IS BETWEEN THEM. THEY HAVE MOVED ON. THE TEARS THAT WE SEE ARE ALL PART OF THE HEALING PROCESS. IM SORRY PEOPLE DID NOT REALIZE JENNIFER’S AMAZING TALENT UNTIL “STAY”. BUT, SHE IS HERE TO STAY!!!!!!!!! ENJOY HER RIDE.
Joy says:
FYI, she wrote this song while in college or soon thereafter. Two bands before Sugarland, before marriage. Life changes happen, give her a break!
ROBERT C says:
THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!!!! I LIVE IN TEXAS. I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF MS. NETTLES SINCE I HEARD SOME OF HER EARLY MUSIC IN 19998-2000 TIME. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHEN SHE WROTE THIS SONG!!!! LIFE DOES CHANGE AND THE WORDS TO SONGS CAN HAVE DIFFERENT MEANINGS AND FEELINGS AT DIFFERENT TIMES. ANYONE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH A DIVORCE CAN BE BROUGHT TO TEARS AT A WHIM. IT IS HARD AS HELL. LET THIS WOMEN BREATH AND ENJOY WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN US IN MS. NETTLES BEAUTY,SOUL, VOICE AND SONGWRITING ABILITIES. WE ARE BLESSED.
Molly says:
Jennifer Nettles song “Stay” is something else. I like her personality and her looks are envied. I hope she and her partner stay on top for quite a while.
Jennifer has such a cute accent and that is part of why I like her.
Diana says:
I absolultly love the song and video. This is coming from a woman who has been the other woman and the woman who was cheated on. Very seldom does the man leave his wife for the other woman. So I could feel her pain and despair. And as far as having your husband cheat on you well that feels pretty awful too. So I can identify with her. I agree PAIN is PAIN and this song reaches out to many women. It was a job well done Jennifer and all your fans see you in a different light. It took a lot of guts to put that song out and do the video. Who cares who the man was this song is all about Jennifer Nettles. Way to go girl.
MARE says:
i knew it! NO ONE SNOTS LIKE THAT ON A VIDEO WITHOUT FEELING PAIN AND RESENTFULNESS. HE IS A MAN THAT IS NOT GOING TO LEAVE HIS HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART BUT ALL THE SAME, LIVES THE LIFE OF SEX,***? AND ROCK AND ROLL. AND WHAT WAS UP WITH THE BRACELET. GOOD FOR YOU JEN. WONDER IF mRS. BON JOVI WATCHES CMT?
Dave says:
your a class act keep doin baby i know there is lots more to see and hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jc says:
To corroborate the information of some previous commenters - I heard Jenn perform this song solo in early 2005 @ Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, Ga. She did explain the background to the song’s story - that there are so many songs out there about being cheated on/cheaters and she decided to write one from the other perspective…in other words, the perspective of “the other woman.”
I admire that Sugarland stayed true to Jenn’s original song and did not engineer it any further - it’s as powerful now as it was when she original wrote it.
Elizabeth says:
I’ve been cheated on, so I know how the wife feels, but this video still gets to me. I cry everytime I watch it, because Jennifer’s heartache is obvious. My husband cheated and then left. However, he didn’t leave me for the other woman…he left us both. I don’t feel bad for the woman that ruined my marriage, but I do feel bad for Jennifer. Maybe it’s because she wasn’t sleeping with my husband.
Marcus says:
I can’t stand Jennifer Nettles singing. I like country, but she’s way too hickish sounding for me. I particularly hate “Stay”. There needs to be more music to drown out her hideous voice.
Laurie says:
Jennifer Nettles not only verbalized in this song what any woman who has found herself in this unfortunate set of circumstances but also pushes to pull yourself out of it. I fell in love with a man that told me he was married only after we were in the relationship for 8 months and I had already given my heart to him. he had told me he was divorced and his ex was just very dependant on him. when he heard this song, he called and told me how sorry he was and now he was hurting to know what he did. bottom line it is a powerful song no matter what. talent is talent and Sugarland has it.
ron nichols says:
my son is 5 years old and he knows all most all the ladies that sings country music 1st and last names. thank you cmt it very hard to live a normal life, and you people help greatly, knock, knock, who there ect. ect. ect. come in daddy won’t say no.
sunflower says:
I give Jennifer Nettles a lot more credit that I had in the past, after seeing this video. I’ve always wondered what happened to have her write/shoot a video like this. However, thats not our business as fans. I think that anyone that has been burned by a cheater can relate to the lyrics of this song, and is glad that something has been written about the experience and emotions one goes through when they’ve unfortunately been cheated on. As far as I’m concerned, every “cheater” should be made to watch this video and maybe will have some realization about how much pain they have caused the person they’ve cheated on.
Mike says:
Jennifer Nettles Has a wonderful southern voice there’s no doubt. What do you think about her playing the role of Janis Joplin.Their voices are very similar.I’m sure Jens covered “Bobby McGee” in her early days.
kaylee arvin says:
i like your voice i bet you are going to come close of winning but taylor swit is going to win the CMT music award.
ashley perry says:
i love all your songs
Kim says:
I love Sugarland, and I do like the song as far as the music and her voice, and really the video made the song. But, on the other hand, I have been cheated on and I just believe this song is morally wrong. Even though in the end she tells him to stay with his wife, she only says that because he will not leave his wife for her and she is tired of waiting. Other than my personal feelings about the lyrics, the song is good. Although, there has not been a song I have not liked that they sing!
smyers says:
I have been in Jennifer’s shoes, and for the guy who blogged above stating “it never said the man was married” who in the hell do you think she was talking about you idiot?
Keep up the wonderful work! Love every song you’ve done!!
Cornbread says:
I thought she made a very good performance, but I personally don’t care how the mistress feels or how she is hurting. Keep your hands off!
mark says:
she made wonderful perfomence. my heart goes out to her deep emotional perfomence. moving video that touchesthe heart.
Stev. says:
It’s a great song but some of you people have been totally sucked in. Jennifer herself says in an interview that she can relate to the pain in the song but it differs to her own experience.(divorce) The song was written years ago before she married and years before she met Bon Jovi. She wrote the song after being inspired by a Reba Mcintyre song not because of anything that had happened to her personally. As for the video, think Sinead O’connors tears in Nothing Compares - all for the video not because she’s heartbroken.
Rebekah says:
Why does everyone always try to justify means by action?
Nobody knows what happens, no one has lived her life. This
song was previously written years ago.
Sugarland doesn’t force judgement on you and all they ask
for you to do is love and accept them for who they are, and
it’s not like they force you to. Why can’t America do the
same?
America has gone so far to the point that they don’t reco
