Garth Brooks Tickets? Oh. My. God.

Posted: August 31st, 2007 at 2:50 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Garth BrooksFourteen heartfelt “oh-my-Gods” in one 90-second phone call. It must mean Garth Brooks is touring again.

When Chicago’s US99 listener Joe Rampick won tickets to a Garth Brooks concert on Monday night (August 27), his response was overwhelming. As it should be. Too many times, callers win tickets and barely even muster a thank you. I find myself screaming at my radio and wishing the DJs would declare the winner unfit for of a lack of enthusiasm. But this Joe guy? He deserves those tickets.

According to the breathless dialog from his call to radio DJ Drew Walker on Monday night, Rampick got up at 5 a.m. to listen to Brooks’ new single “More than a Memory.” He counted the number of times the station played the song between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. (ironically, 14 times, as it turned out) and then was the 100th caller. For those of you who won’t take the time to play the podcast, this is the basic script: “Oh, my god. Are you serious? Oh, my god. Are you serious? Oh. My. God. You have to be kidding me. Oh, my god.”

Rampick and a guest will be flown to the private show, which a few Internet sites have reported will take place in Kansas City. No dates have been announced, though. And that’s one of things I love most about Rampick’s reaction. Everyone in this world claims to be so super crazy busy. So it would’ve been easy for him to say “OK, wait. When’s the show? Because Thursdays are bad for me, and if it’s on a Saturday, I’m going to need some advance notice to get off work. And if it’s out of town, I’ll have to get a sitter. You know what? I just don’t think I can do this. I’m so, so busy.”

So to hear Rampick’s complete acceptance of undisclosed details was refreshing. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth and all that. These are Garth Brooks tickets, for God’s sake. A man who hasn’t played an arena show in years. A man who said he isn’t going to tour again until his youngest daughter is grown. A man who you should drop everything for. I know I would. So Joe, if you’re reading this, I’m available.

And Garth, if you’re reading this, stop. Don’t you have a show to get ready for?

The guy won tickets to a concert, not the lottery. Its just a concert. Its not worth acting like a crazed lunatic over Garth Brooks. Or any country singer.

I’d react this way too. does anyone have details on when it is? i live 3 hours from kc so i am going to try to go. never to busy or broke for garth. and p.s. this is way better than the lottery! :)

Iondon i saw garth in 1998 and he was amazing. But I’d still rather win the lottery. Garth is great though.

It is nice to hear someone still gets excited, over winning something! I have seen Garth 3 times live, it will be the BEST DANG SHOW you’ve ever seen! The man knows how to ENTERTAIN!!!! He makes sure that every person at his shows, not only enjoys themselves, but that they get their money’s worth!! I for one and incredibly excited that he is back!! I have seen a lot of concerts in my time and I can honestly say, I never enjoyed one more than the Garth shows I’ve seen!! One thing that makes him the total entertainer is that my husband enjoyed his showes every bit as much as I did! Not every artist does a good job at that. Some impress the ladies more or the guys more. Garth entertains everyone in that building!! I say Thank God he is back!! I have missed getting to see him live and hearing new songs by him. Even though I do respect his decision to take time with his kids, that just shows that he is a good father too! The total package! If you have never seen Garth in person, take this opportunity, I can almost guarantee you will not regret it!

I’m with Cathy. I would never ever ever turn down a chance to see Garth live. He says he’ll tour when his daughters are grown, but I may not live that long. Must see Garth while I’m able!

I used to be a big fan of Garth Brooks but when it came out how long he has been in love with Trisha Yearwood, it turned me against him. He always spoke about family and what it means to him. What a laugh. His first wife meant nothing to him all those years he was in love with Trisha. If he had divorced Sandy then it would have been a different story. I am no longer a fan of his or Trisha’s. Don’t speak about family values when you yourself don’t practice family values.

I’d react the same way I’m sure! It isn’t fair the the concert is private! I haven’t been fortunate enough to ever see Garth live. I have the DVD collection and it’s yet to be opened because I can’t even watch him on stage without tearing up! Knowing that I won’t have the chance to ever experience that myself is too much for me. I’m such a sap for Garth! I tried to get tickets in the past but I suppose I wasn’t ever fast enough. They were sold out so quickly.
Winning Garth tickets would be the equivalent of hitting the lotto to me!
    Enjoy the show Joe!

A long time ago when garth brooks was on tour,i did have two tickets to the show..my brother was a big fan,and also wanted to go the show with his wife.because i only had 2 tickets,i gave them to my brother to use.i will always remember the look on his face when i gave them to him,he was so happy.he had tried for weeks to get tickets but to no avail.during the show he called me to thank me,then when the show was over,he thanked me again..he told me that it was the best show he’d seen..and again the happiness in his face said it all…2 months later he died of a heart attack.i still miss him.

One thing I would love to have a copy of, as I understand Garth went down on one knee and proposed to Trish during a tribute to Buck Owens. Is there a video of THAT? That would be just so-o-o-o ROMANTIC. Does anyone know why Garth’s and Trisha’s message boards are both closed?

Okay so when I heard the announcement about the concert I almost drove my car into the ditch I was that excited. My mom went to see Garth when I was like 10 and she didn’t take me with her even though I was a mega fan and I swore if he EVER graced the stage again I was going to go come hell or high water. I live 6 hours away from KC but you better believe I will be THRILLED to make the drive to see the one and only Garth!!!!

  • tknogk says:

    Posted: October 3rd, 2007 at 6:56 am

So if the tickets have not gone on sale, and the announcement is not even for 6 hours, and Garth hates scalpers, then where did these tickets that already on the Internet being sold come from?

  • garthsfan says:

    Posted: October 3rd, 2007 at 8:39 am

I’m with you. I saw tickets from about $500 up to almost $2000. And theres a bunch on craigslist to.Maybe season ticket holders give them to those scalpers but shouldnt their be a rule against that. The facts that Garth priced them at just $25 is irrelevant if scalpers charge a fortune. Thanks anyway, Garth.

The sprint center keeps on selling out within seconds. Its going to be impossible for just about anyone to get tickets to that show and I live only 20 minutes from there. But Garth’s people are trying the best they can to keep it fair.

How did he win when the tickets that haven’t even been released to anyone, anywhere? And won’t be until Sat Oct.6. This is according to the promoter who is in possession of ALL the tickets.
Checking the internet, I wonder how many poor smoes are gonna get gigged for the $399 up to $9999.00 being listed as available? Hopefully, people will be smart enough not to fall for the internet hype & deal directly with reputable outlets.

tknogk I’m sure your money is good in Kansas. According to reliable sources, here in KC, MO, you can order tickets on line Sat through Ticketmaster as long as they are available. BUT they are suggesting you get signed up,thru TM, before hand.

  • Texas Too says:

Nope. They’ll cancel any order from Texas. You can sign up at TM all you want, if you have a billing or mailing addy outside of MO/KA/IA/OK your order will be null and void. Me and tknogk need to find some friends in Kansas fast!!! :)

I would love to see Garth live, I have never had the opportunity, it’s not really fair if you do not have a Kansas, or MO address you can’t buy tickets. I would certainly fly to Kansas to see Garth’s concert. He and Tricia are the reason I started to listen to country music. I still always have a Garth and Tricia CD in my player.

According to Garth Brooks in a phone call/interview to Q104 KC radio station(www.q104kc.com/)this morning @ 745am, his promotional people are going to do their best to be sure tickets are available to everyone wanting to come to the KC concert. Nobody will be locked out just because they don’t live in MO or KS. He outlined alot of information regarding how to get tickets in the conversation & the reasons for how things are done.

Go to the Q104 website & listen online as they will be playing the interview off & on all day. 1st scheduled replay will be shortly after 9am this morning. Tickets will be made available thru Ticket Master Saturday. (10am? I forgot what time for sure)

I got tickets! Two Nights! I live in the KC area and I was skeptical that we would get tickets (the Sprint Center ticket procedure was controversial)…But leave it to Garth to get it right for the fans! It is his “Thank You” concert but it is all of us who should say thank you to him! Because of his involvement and forethought normal everyday fans had a shot without selling their souls! Thanks Garth! I’ve waited 10 years for this and I love you for all you do for us! And we get to see Trisha too! This is sooooo cool!

  • Rhonda says:

    Posted: October 6th, 2007 at 4:04 pm

Kuddos to Garth! I was shocked to find that the 1st show was sold out as soon as I hit the enter key on my computer at 10AM. But Garth promised in a Friday interview that he would take care of us and to have faith in him. I did have the faith and patiently retried for 2 hours online. I ended up with 4 lower level tickets and am thrilled. I will be interested to see what happens with the hundreds of tickets that are listed on ebay and through the brokers. Garth gets an A+ for class and for trying. Sad to say that no matter how much he cares and how hard he tries, he can’t please everyone.

If you need a ticket or two to the upcoming concerts…go to ticketmaster.com and search away. Tickets are slowly becoming available due to “over-purchasing” or “out-of-state”. I was able to get 2 tickets, Section 108, Row 7 mid-row. I was breathless in seeing these two pop up…WOW…it’s kinda like playing the lottery, if you put the dollar on the counter to purchase the quick pick lottery ticket..you have just gotten that much closer to a win (although odds are a very long shot, they increase by playing, right?) Same goes here, if you spend the time to learn how to get what you want…you in the end can do what you want with what you got…I’m not selling mine…I bought mine for the experience it holds…living is about experiencing life once in awhile. Garth doesn’t care that folks may make some funds off of his name, he just wanted to reach out his hand and give as many as possible to put their “dollar on the counter”. God Bless this Superstar…not a Jesuse Christ SuperStar…But a FAN SUPERSTAR Respectively!

Just wanted to say, I live in Missouri and managed to get tickets to see Garth on his 8th show! Lucky? Crazy? You can call it whatever you want, but I am just feeling blessed! I have watched Garth from the very beginning, the first time I saw him he was with Reba in Denison Tx doing a show to raise money for their hospital, and now look at him. Someone that has been gone for 9+years can sell 9 shows out in what? A few hours? OMG! You totally rock Garth! Can’t wait for November 8th!!

I got my tickets on the day they became available, and was thrilled! My husband and I have never been able to see him in concert, but have always wanted to. Unfortunately, we have to go out of town for a family emergency and won’t be back until AFTER the concert. Of course I listed our two tickets on e-bay, but they were for $15 less then what I paid. I don’t feel that someone should have to pay all that money to see a great performer. Hope everyone who gets to go has a blast!!!

How to decribe Garth, WOW, amazing, incredible, fantastic, exciting, energetic, Garth Welcome Back!!! YOU have been missed by the fans that love you! I was very fortunate to see Garth in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1997, what a fantastic, show stopping, heartpounding performance he gave you couldn’t keep your eye on him as he was moving all over the stage. I was so excited to hear of the Kansas City concert, but I was not able to get tickets I wanted to surprise my husband with a trip to KC and the concert for his birthday on Nov 4, well two weeks ago a friend of ours called one evening saying she had two extra tickets for the November 5th show I have know idea where our seats are but that’s okay I have binoculars got to see the MAN! SO Kansas City, here we come. Garth see you on the 5th……….

It’s me the 13 yr.old again. I think what Garth did 4 the fire victims was GREAT!!!! I watched the performance at my dad’s house. I want to be a country singer or a vet when i grow up.

Garth sure did a very wonderful thing for the fire victims, Those 5 concerts were all sold out in less then 1 hour. Garth didn’t make a penny, thats a very special man that would do something like that!!
He called a young firefighter up to the stage and gave her his guitar, she was speachless..

I hopr Trish and Garth are very happy with each other after being in a similar situation I know how hard and hurtful it can be for all involved, Bur no one should have to stay in a nonloving relationship.

Garth is an amazing entertainer…he insists on his tickets being reasonable priced unless it is for a fundraiser..He is the best country singer ever..and these new guys can learn a thing or two or three from him..He has broken all records for concert attendance..but not money making cause his tickets were so cheap..I would love to see him in concert again..he is always amazed at the reaction of the audiences at his concerts..and the fact that they always sang his songs back to him..and BTW Garth WAS in love with Trisha forever but he fought it to try to save his marriage to Sandy…until he realized they had nothing to save..He is a devoted family man…
